                             Notes from the arena champ.

What's better than being Duelmaster, I ask??? The answer is being Duelmaster
for two turns in a row!!
It would be irresponsible of me to not thank Dust Devil for letting me bite that
dust for another turn... you rock! If you keep that up I might just leave this fair
arena for ADM sooner rather than later! It also looks like The Plague would rather
go inactive for several turns than to have Ubba-Sathla fight me for the throne...
talk about your avoids!!!
No challenges or avoids for me this turn as nobody is within reach of them... if
I was a betting person I'd guess I'm going to run into a Storm of some kind next turn
even though the skies are sunny and clear.

Until next turn....
     Same doggy time,
          Same doggy place,
               Same doggy channel,
Your Duelmaster,
     Hand of Dog

                                      SPY REPORT

Thankyouthankyou. It's great for me, The Unknown Spymaster to be back in
KATI-TEI. Hope you enjoy the show. Oh, who am I kidding? I already got paid! Say
good-bye to THE STORM FRONT, as they are pushed from the coveted top team spot by the
DA DOG POWNDAZ stable. Advancing in the rankings was I C DRUNK PEOPLE who went from
last turn's 7-11-0, to this week's record of 10-11-0. Hey everybody, watch out for
DUST DEVIL, who flew up 15 points in the rankings after mashing M. CHARDINEE like a
melon. Keep your eye on this guy. And falling like a basher in the top ten was
APPLESLICE, who dropped 8 points after a disappointing (to say the least) bout with
BEER GOGGLES. Well, everybody's pal THE HAND OF DOG moved his record to 19-12-1 by
defeating TORE NAYDO in the Duelmaster's Title Bout and gaining 7 recognition points.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but an onion a day keeps T.P.s at bay.
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the KATI-TEI arena. Did you
hear that THE STORM FRONT was most avoided team this week? Well, knowing the
personal hygiene of THE STORM FRONT's warriors, I'm not surprised! For those of you
who like math, try this one: THE STORM FRONT + Weapons That go Boom = DA DOG POWNDAZ
+ Avoid City. Well dang howdy, but if challenges were votes, NATION would be
president. Although it may be a contest he doesn't want to win. Well, it looks like
TRIPLE DAWG DARE wasn't happy with last turn's rank, so he went for broke by
challenging up 26 points. No guts, no glory. To the crowd's chants of 'Bo-zo bo-zo
bo-zo', WHYTE SQUALL was taken out by the lower-ranked TRIPLE DAWG DARE. (Maybe it's
time to think Dark Arena?).
Remember that an arena is not always a safe place to be, but it is one of the
most interesting, though! Remember: alliances are great, but try and take your ally
in the arena with you and see what happens.
Well, there's the manager of the KATI-TEI giving me the 'cut' sign (or is that
'They're going to strangle you in the alley?). Okay, so I may not be the world's
best comedian, but then you guys aren't the world's best warriors. See ya next time
I'm on this circuit!-- The Unknown Spymaster

                              "DARK ARENA" -- The Novel

For centuries, the Shagornan Elves have been forced to live underground.
Human invaders, the Delarquans, burned their forests, sparking a war of elven
annihilation. The elders told tales that when the Delarquans marched to war
against the elves, the land itself bled as they passed. Since the war, the
elves have dwindled with every passing year, while the humans multiply like
rodents across the land of Alastari.

Now, the Delarquans have disappeared. Some say they departed, others indicate
it.s a ruse, but there have been whispered rumors of another greater threat
looming in the region. Khyron of the Shagornan Elves has been tasked to
determine the cause, realizing that failure is probable and at the end of the
road death could be the only reward.

Khyron has known only the safety of the caves, but now he must journey to the
world above...the World with No Ceiling.

Throughout the years, many fine writers have played Duelmasters/Duel II and have
contributed greatly to the history and background of the world of Alastari. One very
intense period, during the early '90's, was during the Rocanis War, when authors from
both the Delarquan and Free Blades arenas collaborated on writing the history of the
invasion of the arena-city of Rocanis. Mark Manley (aka Grimwood) is a long-time
manager in Rocanis, and was one of the writers who contributed so much to this
history. Over the subsequent years, he has worked to bring his novelization to life
and make the story of the War and the preceding events which led to it available to
the greater public. Many Rocanis legends appear in the book: Itoz Trollbane,
Sandstorm, and others. The novel is a treat to read--even more so if you are familiar
with the game!
