The man doing the dragging was Doone. He had brought Flagg to this series of caves, mines, and tunnels for his own protection. Apparently, someone was trying to kill him. Doone had came back from the Isle, just in time, to save his manager's life. An Aruaki Werecat had tracked him down and tried to poison him with a poison dart. Fortunately for Flagg he had grown some resistance to the tracker's choice of poison. Now here they were, winding their way around and through caves and mine shafts, Flagg absent mindedly reaching out every now and again to mark the cave walls with an invisible mark only he could see. "Really, I don't understand why we have to go running down here. I would have been fine back at the guild house." Flagg complained. "You are a marked man now. You're not safe anywhere." Doone stated simply. Doone caught the faint glow of light ahead in the tunnel they were traversing and motioned for Flagg to stay still while he went ahead to check it out. He cautiously crept forward, slowly, ensuring silence. His manager didn't do as he was told and made his own way forward, keeping the warrior in eyesight. There appeared to be another path or hole in the wall where the light was coming from. Doone moved himself into a position to where he could observe the area without himself being seen. The warrior shook his head and motioned for the manager to move forward to him. Flagg did so and when he got alongside Doone he looked at what had caused the warrior to shake his head. Flagg scratched his head in amazement. There was SUAVE! Pen clutched in one hand, sweat dripping from his forehead as he scribbled feverishly on some thick parchment. Soon his work increased to a frantic pace and smoke began to rise from the parchment. Quickly he grabbed some dark powder from next to his work area and threw it on the parchment. An even blacker smoke arose and an eerie green fire erupted on the parchment. Suave grabbed the parchment and threw it on the floor of the cave. The green fire rose in height and width and unbelievably began to take the form of a man! Flagg decided they had seen enough of Suave's secret creation process and tugged at Doone in order to back track down the tunnel and find an alternate path. As they walked away they heard Suave intone, "You're my newest warrior! I shall name you..." and his voice faded as they gained distance from Suave's creation lair. They had wandered seemingly aimless for another hour or so when Doone grabbed Flagg and tugged him up next to him. "We are here" the warrior announced. "Here" was a cave wall that blocked their path. To the manager's amazement Doone touched the wall and a hidden portion slid away to reveal a brightly lit inner chamber. Flagg had to shield his eyes to keep from being blinded by the brilliance of the light coming from within. When his eyes had adjusted he stepped back in shock. In a room filled with gold and jewel-encrusted treasure sat a beast he had met before. The green and black dragon he thought he had destroyed and recently saw flying over Rodeki. It beckoned the pair into chamber. "Would-be slayer, you would not be here if not for a greater evil threatening us both," the green dragon with black spikes declared. Then another shock came for Flagg, something that would make him wonder if anyone in this cursed land stayed dead and if he truly was a crazy mad man. A familiar voice and a turn to see who had spoken it caused Flagg to promptly fall back on his haunches. "My friend, Gazrek, the dragon is correct Flagg. There is indeed danger that threatens us all," the man spoke. All Flagg could do was stare in disbelief. His mentor, the man who tried to kill him after his arrival in Rodeki, the man Flagg had killed in his early delusional years, the man who had never really existed stood across from him. Lukthane had returned. (*===*===*) (*===*===*) (*===*===*) "I'm in charge here!" the Dwarf known as Adabemis & Balmador said dismissing the creaking suggestions from the Iron Golem. "Take your White Wyrm and head to the crest of this mountain. There you will find a large hole descending into the mountain. Wait there and have your Wyrm ready to do battle. When we flush them out, strike with your beast!" the Dwarf commanded. The Iron Golem raised itslef onto the back of the Wyrm and with a great gust of wind caused by the flapping of its wings, the pair lifted into the air and began to fly up, towards their intended position. Adabemis & Balmador turned towards the group of militia men flanking him. "You're all gladiators and we're going after a warrior and his manager. Don't think this will be an easy fight," and with that the Dwarf began to lead them into the caves. When he came to the first intersection he reached into a bag that had been given to him from the Lady in Black. He retrieved a small pouch of dust. Placing a small amount in his palm he blew it at each wall until he found what he was looking for. In front of him was the palm print of Flagg, glowing with magical energy as the dust coated it. "This is going to be easier than I thought," the Dwarf said and then motioned for the gladiators to follow. * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * ---===DELARQUAN REGIONAL NEWS===--- Duelmasters ----------- DM 1 MORDANT (turn 495): SMEDS of THE BLACK COMPANY (Darkfist, mgr.) Yankee Dan, my boy, you dance well (especially considering the shoes you're wearing), but not quite well enough. You need to work on the "long forms" more. And I have no doubt that we'll meet again so that I can judge your development! Ann Artichoke SPY REPORT Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the clash and bustle of the weekly RODEKI games. Former top team COLOR ME SUAVE was unseated this week as DELVERS moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top spot with a 3-2-0 record for the round. My praise to FLAGG'S FIVE for their 4-1-0 week this time out. Indeed, it was a skillfully fought round deserving of notice! VIRTUOS VIXEN caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as she skillfully bested 1977 AMC MATADOR and was awarded 16 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, VIRTUOS VIXEN put down 1977 AMC MATADOR, causing him to lose 11 points of recognition in the process. As is fitting, the most sought after warrior on the challenge boards this week was none other than Duelmaster ANN ARTICHOKE herself. Who here was not present for the title fight this week as GUNSLINGER boldly challenged ANN ARTICHOKE in order to strive for the Duelmasters honors? The city has turned out in honor of GUNSLINGER, for with his arena victory he may now lay claim to the highest position in the city! Heed this! A seer has warned that if exactly 6 die in duels this week, the whole city shall perish! Just remember...5 or 7! But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades that is city RODEKI. My inside sources tell me that the team to beat in RODEKI these days is HIGHER PURPOSE. At least, most blades in town are looking to avoid them. Apparently the stalwarts of FLAGG'S FIVE are catching the bulk of jests down at the challenging board for their large share of the avoids. A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games this week, it seems that CRIX BREMOORE posted a challenge against the more highly recognized BOZO. The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand CRIX BREMOORE won victory over BOZO. Remember warriors, this is the discipline of steel. Is not Death a warrior's foremost adviser? Warriors, may this counselor stand ready at your right hand forever! Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt! The girls are as pretty in RODEKI as ever I remembered them....and the fighters as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till we meet again, remember: a turtle walks slow, hides head in a shell, and harms no one; a lion runs to slay its prey.-- Zontani Sharp Eyes DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME GUNSLINGER 1587 17 20 2 108 KING'S KREW (151) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME LIMPY TWO-SCREWS 4048 15 7 0 110 COLOR ME SUAVE (322) YANKEE DAN 4019 21 8 0 99 CLOWNING AROUND (354) GEORGE STARK 1589 18 22 0 98 KING'S KREW (151) ANN ARTICHOKE 3984 22 13 0 93 DELVERS (154) EL RIPPOFF 3992 18 15 0 91 DELVERS (154) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME FUZZY BUZZCUT 4024 17 10 0 82 COLOR ME SUAVE (322) STUPID SEXY FLANDERS 3836 11 7 0 77 I'M SO SEXY (332) SUSHEE SU 3983 13 22 0 69 DELVERS (154) CHALLENGER ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME JOHN ROSE 3985 12 23 0 66 DELVERS (154) VIRTUOS VIXEN 4092 7 2 0 65 FLAGG'S FIVE (213) BOZO 4016 11 18 0 63 CLOWNING AROUND (354) CRIX BREMOORE 4091 6 3 1 62 FLAGG'S FIVE (213) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME NEON NECROBOOKIE 4113 3 3 1 52 MEMPHIS MAFIA (367) 1977 AMC MATADOR 4116 6 1 0 41 COLOR ME SUAVE (322) THE MOLE 4118 6 0 1 35 DELVERS (154) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -BREW-HA-HA 4114 2 2 1 31 MEMPHIS MAFIA (367) -RIGHT-WING PIMP 4111 2 2 1 29 MEMPHIS MAFIA (367) MASUMII 4117 4 2 0 27 FLAGG'S FIVE (213) ADASHIR 4088 2 2 0 26 HIGHER PURPOSE (363) ALARIC 4086 3 1 0 25 HIGHER PURPOSE (363) BEN MEARS 3280 6 6 0 24 KING'S KREW (151) -DENNIS RODMAN 3849 5 9 0 24 I'M SO SEXY (332) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME RONALD MCDONALD 4041 2 0 0 21 CLOWNING AROUND (354) NESSA 4090 2 2 1 13 HIGHER PURPOSE (363) MIYAGI'S MIATA 4130 1 0 0 10 COLOR ME SUAVE (322) -J.T. Tattered banners and forgotten memories wailed in the wind for a dynamic death march to dawn once more upon the blood stained sands of the Delarq slow arena. The distant call crying for a declaration of restoration amidst the ruin of the all but forgotten Delarq arena carried to the far corners of Alastari; drawing the Devious, the Diabolical, the Dangerous and the Down Challenging to cross blades and wage warfare among an assemblage of new stables managed by the Known and Unknown; willing to spill fresh blood, while carving their destiny during 15 Rounds of contest driven combat to be known as the "Illis Incredibly Diabolical Delarq Death Fest". A lone cloaked figure huddled by lamplight in a remote outpost near the crossroads of ElseWhere and ElseWhen; feverishly formulating the foundational framework for the dawning of the Delarq Death Fest in DM 59, complete with Gladiatorial Commission sanctioned prizes to promote the growing thirst for a Delarq Slow Arena Death Festival. Delarq Death Fest Opening Round debuts the first turn immediately following the Summer 2004 F2F Tourney and continues through the completion of 15 consecutive rounds. Death Fest points are Won or Lost ONLY in the DM 59 Delarq Slow Arena [Tourneys DO NOT Add or Subtract from the Death Fest Point Scoring System]: Death Fest Scoring Format: Win =3D +2 pts Loss =3D -1 pt Kill =3D +5 pts [in addition to +2 pts for Win] Death =3D -3 pts [in addition to 1 pt for Loss] Dark Arena Kill =3D +10 pts [in addition to +2 pts for Win] Dark Arena Death =3D -5 pts [in addition to 1 pt for Loss] Revenged Blood Feud =3D +5 pts [successful Revenged Blood Feud provides Death Fest contestants the opportunity to cancel out 3 pts for Death and 1 pt for Loss; while gaining +1 pt overall for the Revenged Blood Feud in addition to the +2 pts for Win] DEATH FEST PRIZES will be awarded to the Top Ten Death Fest Stables on the basis of Total Points*** accumulated during the 15 rounds of competition as follows: 1. Favorite Weapon Knowledge for 1 (one) warrior ranked Initiate or higher on the Final Round to be revealed by RSI to each of the Top Ten Death Fest Stables 2. Renaming of Dark Arena Monsters and NPCs [yet to be determined according to how many DA Monsters and NPCs are available in DM 59 for Renaming] 3. The Top Five Death Fest Stables will receive New Team Rollup Certificates as follows: 1st (10), 2nd (8), 3rd (6), 4th (4) and 5th (2) 4. Renaming Illis Arena for 6 months plus Receiving 6 months Free Play courtesy of RSI will be awarded to the manager of the 1st Place Death Fest Stable 5. Discussions are underway regarding a possible Special Award granted to the Illis Iron Stable qualifiers who compete in 67 of a possible 75 fights during the course of the 15 consecutive rounds of the Death Fest [Key Factor is How Many (?) stables will be competing in the Death Fest without drawing away participation by current managers in the remaining slow arenas!] Therefore, it is important for all managers entering stables in DM 59 for the upcoming Death Fest to contact RSI as soon as possible regarding their participation in this contest so that a Final Ruling on the proposed Illis Iron Stable Award can be issued by RSI. ***TieBreaker is determined on the Final Round by the DM 59 Newsletter Recognition Rankings. The stable with the Highest Ranked Active Gladiator is granted the decision. [Example: Warrior A and Warrior B are both listed in the Recognition Rankings with 87 pts; however, because Warrior A is listed in the Recognition Rankings ahead of Warrior B, then Warrior A is granted the TieBreaker Decision for His/Her stable!] Opening Round Team Spotlight Bonus [minimum 15 paragraphs!] Each Delarq Death Fest competitor who writes a Team Spotlight featuring their Stable (Name) and Managerial Alias [Gladiatorial Names Optional] in regards to competing in the Delarq Death Fest will receive 25 pts added to His/Her opening round score. Illis Iron Stable Bonus [in addition to the proposed award awaiting RSI approval!] Any manager whose stable competes in at least 67 of the possible 75 fights during the 15 rounds of Death Fest receives 25 points added to His/Her final overall score [this allows each stable the cushion of missing one round of competition; plus up to 3 additional fights due to waiting for replacement rollups from Deaths suffered either in Tourneys or during the Death Fest contest in DM 59 over the course of 15 rounds of competition!] Delarq Death Fest Hosted by Hammer [Who Else?] LAST WEEK'S FIGHTS ANGEL was butchered by MOUNTAIN TROLL in a crowd pleasing 1 minute Dark Arena fight.
