DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Rodeki,
Wow! I'm seriously surprised to see myself up here. Hollymoop, you're a much better
warrior than that! I'm going to hazard a guess and say that this will be my only
turn up here for awhile. It seems that Flagg's public challenge to Suave has
awakened him out of his slumber. On that topic...rewards? Flagg, don't you have
anyone proof read that drivel that comes out of your mouth? Isn't it AWARDS? Holy
cripes, I have a 3 wit for a manager! At any rate, my stable-mates and I have been
knocking the dust off our armor and weapons and trying to remember how we use to
"fight". Seems, like our Manager is proving his 3 wit in this regard.
On a separate topic, does anyone know what the name of the local bar and/or food
establishment is around here? I'm getting tired of the "pizza" that Flagg keeps
getting teleported in from his home world.
Here's to hoping that one day I get to hold the Runeblade!
Masumii
SPY REPORT
Well, what are you looking at, RODEKI? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens
before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. Later days, COLOR ME SUAVE, since
DELVERS took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. Gee, I'm impressed,
a 4-1-0 is nice, but don't get cocky, FLAGG'S FIVE, the Fates teach humility, and the
Fates are proud. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to see JADE TIGER win a
fight and gain 25 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, MUDSLINGER beat HONG KONG FOOEY and
HONG KONG FOOEY lost 15 points. You're breakin' my heart. MASUMII challenged WINKY
DINK for RODEKI's Title this turn, and guess what happened? And if variety is the
spice of life, RODEKI may be getting bland, as MASUMII stays top dog in the city.
I'm not in a very good mood today, but why am I telling you this? You want to know
what's new, don't you, RODEKI?
He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day, the coward.
ELEMENTS OF ZEN, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were this turn's most avoided
team. Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And who led the way in this mass
act of cowardice? Let's see, well, whatcha know? It was FLAGG'S FIVE. Ha ha ha ha!
Ooh, I'm frightfully impressed, MISO SOUP was this turn's most challenged warrior.
Watch that ego swell, sports fans. I guess I can give a little credit to MASTER
SCHEDULER of FLAGG'S FIVE for challenging up by 23 to STONECRUSHER II. MASTER
SCHEDULER lost to get 8 points of recognition. And we have HOLLYMOOP in a challenge,
going down 15 points for the fight. Guess what? I thought HOLLYMOOP showed great
skill and promise when he was bested by BLAZING BLUR. All right, so I slept through
it! Big deal!
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. Honor is like a chainmail shirt, it only
shines through use. Certain nameless cowards will doubtless rebuke me on this one.
What does the RODEKI arena have in common with the inns? It's just as
comfortable to sleep in either place. Ha ha ha ha! Phlllt! Just had to do that
before I leave the fine city of RODEKI. I feel much better now. Glad to see the
back of this place-- Snide Clemens

PERSONAL ADS
Masumii -- See, you missed the part where you break your weapon. Follow the script!
Dang. -- Hollymoop
Am I the only person using avoids? I figure there's only three or four teams who
challenge. After dividing the arena into classes, it's rare to need to avoid all
three. Is it worth thirty-nine cents (and a spyreporter jab) to promote my best
matchups? Absolutely. There's only one warrior I trust Suckfoot against, Zenny;
expect challenges every turn until he can't do 'em anymore. -- Suave
Beasties -- I can't tell whether you appear here for tourney prep or for actual
fighting. I've not followed your splits and breaks as it doesn't matter too much
either way, but it'd be nice to know whether you're staying or going. -- Suave
Harby -- Odd. I remember challenging your warriors almost every turn for a looong
time. I suppose we're teeter-tottering with one of us managing champs while the
other handles inits, then vice versa. -- Suave
Anybody have any handle on political points of the current champs and up? Shouldn't
there be a sizeable graduation sometime soon? Rodeki feels top-heavy. -- Suave
Winky Dinky -- Now is that anyway to wink or dink at a lady? -- Virtuos Vixen
Moist Towlette -- I wish you were a Dry Towlette. I could have used one after that
loss! -- Rima Adler
Killer Kabuki -- Must have been all of that pretentious and excessive makeup. I was
laughing so hard, I forgot to fight. -- Blazing Blur
Dacimousel -- Now wait a minute here...we did this the turn before and the results
were totally opposite. You obviously scheduled lessons in between rounds or I
scheduled something wrong. -- Master Scheduler
Suave -- Err...ah, fugh! 1-4. Shows what I get for opening my mouth about
"rewards". Perhaps, if I was actually trying to get the guys and gals to earn
awards, we would have gone 4-1? -- Flagg
Bestial Legion -- I see that we will have the honor of a Cougar AND a Tiger joining
us. Try to keep them on their leashes as I have way too much raw meat running around
here for their own good. -- Flagg
Bash Bros. -- When do we get the honor of standing and gawking at Standing and
Gawking? -- Flagg
All -- I noticed that the all ** Lawn Boy of the grammar challenged Your *** Is
Grass, has himself been handed a nice plot of grass to be planted under. Perhaps if
the team name had been The Gr*** Is Greener, he would have been around longer to
prepare the lawn, so to speak. -- Flagg
All -- I've been in contact with Farnham of Southside Bullocks and hopefully he'll be
returning to town here in the near future. (If you're reading Andy, *nudge* nudge*)
-- Flagg
Congrats to Janet Reno for her TV at the FTF in the Contenders tourney and to
Vultureman, who came oh so close to one in the Primus tourney. -- Flagg
Ah! At last, I have mastered Kung-Fu! Or at least, I have mastered the Kung-Fu
Master. There is great satisfaction in this, and I will take my satisfaction where I
can find it. -- Asbenta
Jade Tiger -- Huh. I'd HEARD that jade could be broken like glass, but I guess we're
looking at safety-glass, aren't we? -- Christellina
Master Po -- One of my teammates, who is a born person and thus has a sense of humor,
says you are a "po' boy." I don't grasp the particular content of that appellation.
But what I do grasp is that you are operating under a false identity. *NO* dwarf
could be that tall. You must have stolen the identity of some careless dwarf. Not
that I care, particularly, what is a dwarf more or less to me? But it confuses my
logic pathways when someone presents themselves as what they clearly are not. So fix
this. Now. -- Mudslinger
P.S. And do NOT tell me about the six-foot dwarf in Ankh Morpork. You are not six
feet tall and this is not Ankh Morpork.
P.P.S. And there is apparently only one of him, but there are HUNDREDS of over-tall
dwarf-impersonators here, which offends my sense of what the world should be.
Master Scheduler -- I laugh at schedules. I am a free spirit. -- Dacimousel
P.S. Oops. How did you get down into The Dead listings? Surely I didn't do that?
I abase myself in guilt and stuff if I was in some way responsible. Oh, wait, it
wasn't you! Whew, that's a relief. Let the golems kill, I just want to enjoy life.
And let others enjoy life, too, of course.
Ah. There was something odd about that load that went into my crushing hopper. More
yielding than stone or even the occasional strayed mine timber, less yielding than
the mud that oozes out of the walls. They tell me it was a Persistent Beggar.
Presumably They know. Or care. -- Stonecrusher II
Ghost of Matching Shirts -- I guess you weren't designed for sand-washing in hot
water. Rest in matching tatters or something. -- the Delvers
Suave -- If you go five-oh while I go oh-five this time, we'll be even on wins. --
Harby, Delvers

Order of Lost Souls
Where there is a beginning, there is an end. Where there is a whole, there is a
part. Where there is light, there is dark. All these are found to be true and along
with the most important, when something is lost it can always be found.
Many a person has walked this land in one form or another. Some truly believe
that here is there and there is here but who really knows? Among the peoples of this
great land many have felt lost in time and in place. Some have gone as far as to be
lost of soul....
Although most are thought to have been born into this world in a mortal way, no
one can be sure. Life is something they have in a way but a torturous joke to them
in all others. They live in a sense as they are here and now and having mind and
knowledge. They are flesh and blood of one sort of another. They cast a shadow as
all things living do. Blood courses through their veins.
These beings have become wraiths drifting here and there, knowing that they
truly belong nowhere. Searching for that one thing that they seem to be missing or
the one thing in them that puts them beyond others. These people have become masters
of many things as time seems to have no hold. For not even time can find those that
are truly lost. Many of these beings have drifted toward the gladiatorial games. In
the blood and chaos of the arenas something holds them like no other. It's the loss
of something they have never had or something they had so long ago it seems to have
never been. LIFE.
A few of the more shall we say "human" of these beings have settled into many
arenas around the land. The loss of life and the crazed emotions of the arenas
giving them glimpses of things they longed for but seemed incapable of attaining.
A number of these lost ones saw in each other something that might be able to
help the other. They spent many a day traveling to and fro, for what is time to one
who it doesn't touch. The more time they spent together the more they seemed to
change. No one noticed the change in the others but each recognized it in himself.
Years passed and the changes stopped. Each had been changed in different ways but
all felt more whole. A discussion ensued between them. They came to a realization
that in each other they had found parts of themselves that had been missing. Then
came the next thought. If they could find more of like minded lost ones they might
eventually find what they always wanted, their true selves.
The group settled down to think things through. They finally came up with an
idea they all could accept. They would form an organization that through their
arenas through out the land they would seek out other lost ones. If they were of
like mind they would be invited to join the group and seek that special something
they all desired.
This was how it began and how it still is. The Order of Lost Souls was formed
and the search began. The original members numbered six. They were Baphomet,
Blackstorm, Hammer, JGW, Reaper and Wretch. These members of the Order spread their
gladiator stables through out the realm seeking others like them. Through blood and
death they lived through others. One day hoping to live for themselves. For as they
all know what is lost must eventually be found....
