TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Turn 2 is in the books, and there was some significant movement in the rankings. This
is pretty impressive when you consider how truly low scoring a Morya Madness turn can
be for many teams. There are lots of rewards but none with any significant amount.
Well, unless you rack them up as OAB did to take over the lead.
This turn is Slaughter Priest Memorial scoring. The rules are posted below, but the
most important one to follow is ABSOLUTELY NO CHALLENGES (Dark Arenas are allowed and
scored normally).

**Turn 3 Scoring -- Slaughter Priest Memorial
No Challenges (DA fights allowed and scored regularly; avoids allowed)
+3 points for winning
+3 points for killing (giving 6 in total, 3 for the win and 3 for the kill)
+3 points for at least one of your warriors writing a personal (regardless of the
number of personals beyond the one you still only get three points). Make sure it
is written from one of your team's warriors and not simply the manager entity or
you will not get the points.
-3 points for losing
-3 points for being killed (so -6 in total: -3 for losing and -3 for being killed)
Special Note: Challenging during an SPM scoring turn will result in disqualification.
**Turn 4 Scoring -- Morya Madness
+3 points to the highest-ranked warrior of each style. The highest-ranked is the
highest recognition total, regardless of record. In the case of a tie in
recognition points, win/loss percentage will be the tiebreaker, followed by total
kills (warrior).
+5 Top Team on the Move descending scoring down to #5 (e.g. +5 for first, +4 for the
second, etc).
+2 Successful Blood feud. Blood feud victories for kills that did not occur during
the contest do not count to this total.
+5 Most Avoided Squad (teammates avoiding one another will not be counted)

REMEMBERING SLAUGHTER PRIEST
No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay

I am writing this Spot to honor the memory of Slaughter Priest, by which the Wheel of
Misfortune is calculating points for Round 3 from the Slaughter Priest Memorial
Contest held years ago!
[For those of you who are interested in what Hammer experienced from his approaching
the Gladiatorial Commission regarding his hosting a future contest in 2021, please
read my Spot in the upcoming Arena 83 Turn 171 Newsletter!]
Slaughter Priest became a friend of mine early on in my Duelmasters experience.
Rich was his first name. He served in the military as a Submariner on a Nuclear
Submarine in the 1980s.
At some point in his life he became a Homeless Veteran.
However, he was working towards achieving a better life for himself, in spite of the
circumstances that led to him being a homeless military veteran who loved his country.
Rich had a friend who owned a business, so in exchange for a place to sleep in his
friend's shed behind the store, my Duel Friend worked as a cashier at his friend's
business, which also gave him free access to the internet, plus a physical address to
have his Duel Newsletters & Fights sent to him from RSI.
He did not let most people in the Duel Community know about his situation, because he
did not want people thinking that he was looking for sympathy, nor did he want us to
think that he was trying to manipulate anyone to help him.
Rich had a long-term plan and he was slowly working his way up the ladder of life,
having been unexpectedly knocked down, after serving our country.
I was honored to be one of the few in our Duel Community who Rich confided in about
his situation. As I mentioned earlier, he had Email access and also sent me some diplo
notes from time to time: [for those of you who remember writing & receiving diplo
notes!] -- but Slaughter Priest mostly shared about insights into the game we all love
and are addicted to, info about opponents' warriors, plus enjoyed communicating with
his select inner group of dueling friends!
Slaughter Priest also enjoyed writing Personal Ads, trading barbs & greetings with
various Managers, in a game that allowed him to participate on a social platform of
equal footing with the other real-life people with managerial personas, who were
competing in the arenas where Slaughter Priest was dueling!
We all come from a variety of backgrounds and situations that we face in Real Life,
but the Arenas & Tourneys are where we can escape and live out part of our lives on
the Arena Dueling Sands!
We are a Family, and Slaughter Priest (Rich) was a part of our Family!
A Friend who did not want to share what he considered to be temporary troubles with
his Dueling Family - he just wanted to enjoy playing the game with his Dueling Friends
& his Dueling Family throughout the Duel Community!
One fateful night, Rich laid down his life for his friend when Rich tried to prevent a
thief from robbing his friend's business!
Rich was murdered as a result, a tragic loss of life which he freely gave in an
attempt to prevent a friend of his from losing money at the hands of a robber!
I have recently come back to D2 and am glad to be among Old Friends!
Some of our Duel friends have disappeared, while others have left this life to go to
their eternal reward, while still others are returning to the D2 arena sands!
Rich was Homeless -- and a Veteran -- so perhaps at some point in our remaining lives
We All Can Find a Way to Help a Homeless Veteran to Honor the Memory of Rich, the
Slaughter Priest, who was one of my True Friends in the Dueling Game!
Street Legal organized and hosted the original Slaughter Priest Memorial Contest to
honor his friend Rich. Street can tell you more about Rich if you are truly interested
in gaining further insights into the life of a Real-Life American Hero who Sacrificed
His Life for a Friend, to Protect that Friend's Business!

SPY REPORT
I was going on vacation, see? Surf, sun... But what do those bums say? "Hit
the road, Debby Tonte. STORMCROWE needs a spyreport." Oh, well. I don't wanna hurt
anybody's feelings or anything, but YUPPIE SHELTER really goofed with their 2-3-0.
CSU COLLEGE RADIO like really fought hard to move up to 3rd from 12th. Way to go!
One team deserves special mention 'cause they moved up 8 after going 4-1-0. Keep it
up, HOWLIN SLAUGHTER! MVP award for BOMBAY BIKE CLUB? CSU COLLEGE RADIO's proud of
it after beating DOROTHY and getting 31 points. Talk about yer major upsets!
MAR-A-LAGO's match with THE BRUTE SQUAD cost it a loss of 14 points! Don't you think
the Duelmaster is being unfair? I think HUMAN BEAN should let IMA GETCHA be
Duelmaster for a while, without fighting about it. I hear the top team insists all
their warriors get nine hours sleep. They want photogenic fighters for PR photos.
So just why would someone becomes a warrior anyway? It can't be for these
really neat Spyreports can it? MAIDEN JAPAN was the most avoided team. Is a
88-103-3 record really that scary? Hhmph! What kind of warriors are GOING BERSERK?
MAIDEN JAPAN, an easy team to beat if I ever saw one, can't get them to accept an
invitation!
What does a fighter fight for? I mean, the crowds don't give a hoot if someone
gets killed. Not after four more fights. BOMBAY BIKE CLUB of CSU COLLEGE RADIO
wasn't planning on killing DOROTHY, I bet. Now it has to worry about being
Bloodfeuded, and getting put on lists... What a bummer! JOE TWITCH got wasted by
HERSHEY HAMMER! But with a 5-9-0, I guess FORCE OF FIVE aren't too bummed. I'm
always kinda bummed when a decent warrior gets killed. IMA PIMP, of IMA BUBBA 2 had
a 9-5-0 when he got bumped off by LOHENGRIN. BOOK OF THOMAS figured it was better to
let CESPEDES kill BIRDIE unpunished, and not worry about getting nailed again! Hey
you guys, don't you think your families would like to hear from you? Write! (Or
have someone write for you.)
Remember, blood on a purple robe may stain. Soak it in cold water, and hand
wash. I gotta leave. STORMCROWE is like such a dump, and you guys smell too much!
