DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
I did it! I did it! I did it! Beat that old Blizzard-Rat this time! AND, I am
Duelmaster! AND, I am a Lord Protector!
It was a cold, cold fight, for sure. The Rat had blizzards blowing everywhere,
and I apparated (learned that from studying those Harry Potter Books so thoroughly) us
to the South Pole with lots of ice and snow and ccccold. Even though he had mufflers
and gloves and hats and hefty coats on, I braved it out and got him in a claw hold
(learned that from Baron Von Raschke on TV wrasslin' many years ago) and put him to
sleep in six. It was really quite beautifully done. And The Lady called. So I am
finally, finally out of here, (Consortium grad # 1217) and heading to the Isle to
retire.
Many of you will wonder what kind of godling is that South Pole? Allow me to
dispel you of that godling-thinking conspiracy. Here is me: 13-6(+1)-15-15-15-14-7
Basher. My only superpower (other than knowing lots of spells and holds) is my damage-
doing. Tremendous helps. Yes, indeed.
So this is my last hurrah. And I am glad. I think I shall go out in style. Dark
Arena, here I come.

SPY REPORT
Greetings, warriors of STORMCROWE! Once again I've been called out of
retirement for my abilities and insights into Spyreporting. Up 'n down. Up 'n down.
Rankings always change. Up 'n down. I think I'm gonna be... Well, CANDY CRUSHERS'
8th moved them up to 1-0-0 place. What's with OTHER MOTHER? She actually beat RAT
PAK's BLIZZARD-RAT, and walked away with 25 more points from the fight. Major
screwup at YUPPIE SHELTER. MAR-A-LAGO lost 17 points to KUNG-FU MASTER. Some new
strategies, perhaps? Maybe MAR-A-LAGO will provide more easy wins... See how the
Duelmaster Dark Arena Challenged DARK ARENA's DARK CHAMPION? That sort of initiative
is how it got where it is now. DARK CHAMPION was reminded on the sands why SOUTH
POLE is Duelmaster. Advice to fighters with a 1 will--give up fighting!
No matter the time or place, men will always duel. How well I know the feeling
of being in the most avoided team! Don't fall out of practive, DARQUE FORCES!
Management must be dealin', as the boys at RAT PAK ain't reelin'! DARQUE FORCES'
mad! Maybe GOING BERSERK's KURR is one of those guys who likes pain, or something.
That's what he'll get next week, after challenging up 35 to MIRAGE. KURR subdued
MIRAGE (KURR getting 16 points, too!)--Ooh baby! Now dat I likes!
A fighter's lot is filled with strife, revenge, and killing. Some fighters
don't accept this. The best do. Hmm... More surprises must remain in store for me,
if SOUTH POLE can return from the Dark Arena. Here's some advice: study your
opponent, master many skills, fight dirty.
Many other cities have retirement homes for aged warriors. Any plans here? The
end of another Spyreport! That's cause for celebration in my book! Time for my

What a letdown. A 1-4-0 performance on T-442, but I guess no one dying was a plus.
Altho it's not like I have a team of godlings racing to the Isle of the Eye, or
anything. I guess I should be used to this team under-performing. This may be the
best group of 5 fighters this team has ever had, but that doesn't mean they are
actually any good either. (sigh) Why do I continue to torture myself like this? Clues
and suggestions are welcome.

Editorial note from a member of the peanut gallery -- As I tour the many gladiator
arenas of Alastari, it strikes me as odd how quiet it is everywhere. You'd think the
commission charges coin of the realm to speak up and have your words of wit and/or
wisdom published in the local newsletter.I can only surmise that the arena managers
are lazy or apathetic Neither is an excuse. Contribute to your local arena and help
re-build the long lost excitement. Is everyone's life so overwhelmingly busy that
taking 10 minutes or less to write something is to much to ask? Talk smack! Brag about
a warrior! Say grats to someone! Go on a rant like me! Or go back to plotting your
almighty numbers. Where has the magic gone? -- Boss Rat
P.S. I probably should've written this rant in the 100 or 102 NL, for greater
exposure, but I got on a roll here and don't feel like being some crusader for a lost
cause that publishes a rant in every NL. Besides, my money says nearly everyone
doesn't even look at their respective NL's, so what's the point. I rant because I can.
