DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
As they say, somebody says, this is a fine how-de-do!
Every time I look at the newsletter, every time this arena misses a cycle, I'm
reminded that this is one the Commission wanted to close, and it was saved by the
skin of somebody's teeth. I guess once teeth have been skinned, they can't do much
anymore, right? Because this arena is pathetic.

SPY REPORT
Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly ARDIVENT games. Former top team BLUVALLEY WARRIORS
was unseated this week as BLADE DEMONS moved up from 4th ranking to take the top spot
with a 3-0-0 record for the round. Warriors--remember that glory waits always around
the corner! Witness how this week BLADE DEMONS went 3-0-0 to move up 3 in the
rankings. BALROG caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he
skillfully bested TRUSTWORTHY SCRIBE and was awarded 14 points in recognition. In
one of the week's more notable duels, VISITING ORC put down DEBRA COLLIN, causing her
to lose 9 points of recognition in the process. The city has turned out in honor of
PALANTIRIATHALASA, for with hers arena victory she may now lay claim to the highest
position in the city! Informants "close" to the city champion have told me that he
never fights without pantyhose on beneath his armor. Watch out!
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. I saw one fighter that warriors
avoided when this week's challenge seeking began. THE FRED ZONE is feared. This
much I can say. Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent
the better part of last week avoiding THE FRED ZONE. Indeed it was BLADE DEMONS.
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms. One thing
is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
The girls are as pretty in ARDIVENT as ever I remembered them....and the
fighters as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Ahh, but I can hear the spires of
a far off city calling to me. I must away! Till we meet again, remember: a turtle
walks slow, hides head in a shell, and harms no one; a lion runs to slay its prey.--

Poised to Kill -- Glad you didn't push it to the final point. -- Gneiss Guy
Rusted Soul -- Have you thought of, you know, brillo? Or at least steel wool. I
mean, steel wool is so warriory. It should be perfect. -- Debra Collin
Solaris -- You'd be lots happier on Mars. I think you should go. Now. -- Flint
Hills
Break Point -- Yowch. Do you suppose we could get the arenamaster to grade that one
on a curve? -- Becker Collin

I have returned after a five-year absence. I expect all tithes, gifts and bequeaths
to resume as normal. -- Magic Man
4 May 2005
Several questions have been asked about Slaughter's Challenge that I'd like to
address and clarify.
1) All Prizes must be used on the contest team, this includes the resurrection.
Remember any fast arena team should be able to transfer to a slow arena
(except for arena 82, I believe).
2) Warriors will be allowed to fight and run in the dead tourney, should there
be one, and return if an opening can be made without breaking the rules
(i.e. only one DA fight allowed per team).
3) If you win your single DA match you do not get another. It's one use of the
Dark Arena win or lose so if you want him/her/it dead be sure and throw the
match!
4) The resurrection potion's longevity has been extended by the commission to 6
months but the other potions (favorites, and +1 bonus) must still be used
within 2 turns and on a 5 FE or higher warrior. The resurrection can go on
any warrior regardless of FE.

P.S. My thanks to those already entered (Hammer, The Consortium, Tripwire, Stik, and
Shaman) and hope many more find a reason to come to arena 54. Again, my email is
triumph1971@hotmail.com or you can diplo me in arena 14 at THE DEATH SQUAD (63) if
you need more info!
