Iaye:

Lenpro scanned the front page of the Andorian Star quickly and frowned. On his
lean and hawk-like face, the expression was intimidating. "I did not think it was a
good idea to allow that gadfly from the Star an interview," he said.
Senator Sedalia, not one to be intimidated, shook his head. "He struck just the
right note," the Lord Protector argued. "Concern but not suspicion or alarm--yet.
After all, there may be a reasonable explanation for the king's failure to act. We
have given them an opening to make that explanation." He leaned back in his chair
and propped his heels on footstool. Nowhere but at the Lenpro guildhouse was there a
chair so perfectly suited to him, and he intended to enjoy it while he could. All
too soon, he would be headed back for Andor and the Royal Palace. The rain drumming
on the roof did not make that an enticing prospect. Memory of the shiftyeyed clerks
and minor ministers he'd met on the last trip was also depressing.
"That insolent puppy of a reporter even quoted me!" Lenpro growled.
Sedalia picked up his own copy of the tabloid and scanned the short article
quickly.

          + ]H[ + ---:--- + ]H[ The Andorian Star #101 ]H[ + ---:--- + ]H[ +

Iaye:
In an interview yesterday, Senator Sedalia stated that he had gone to Andor with
the intention of requesting the King's aid for the coastal areas battered by the
dramatic and tempestuous waves resulting from the sinking of Krael.
"I and my colleagues felt that the devastation along the coast is properly a
matter for the King's attention," the senator and lord protector said. "We did not
go seeking a hand-out, but only a helping hand."
A spokesman at the Royal Palace, who declined to identify himself when queried
on Sedalia's visit, said that the matter had been "taken under advisement." No
further development of this position could be obtained in Andor.
Senator Sedalia's manager, Lenpro of Iaye, told this reporter that, "We will
pursue this matter."
Anyone with information that might be of assistance is invited to communicate
with the Andorian Star office.

"There is such a thing as bad publicity," the senator acknowledged, "even though
some people claim otherwise. But this is not it. Concerned and firm. All cats are
still in their bags."
Lenpro snorted laughter. "Have you ever tried to bag a cat and keep it there?
Word that we're up to something will be all over northwestern Alastari faster than
horses can gallop."
"I've often thought carrier pigeons should be roasted and eaten," Sedalia
agreed. "Besides, those rumors will work in our favor. Anyone who even thinks they
know something will be getting in touch."
"Tchh!" Lenpro stood suddenly. "Are you so much of a fool, Sedalia? The
Assassins' Guild has been dissolved--officially. But it has long been an arm of the
King of Andoria, and I do not believe that he--or whoever is behind him--has
dispensed with it now."
"As a Lord Protector--" Sedalia began.
"--You are subject to the whims of the Grey Witch," Lenpro finished. "There is
a strong possibility that she is involved in this business. Do you think that a Lord
Protector assassinated for prying into her business would be resurrected by her
magicians?"
Sedalia shifted uncomfortably. As a politician, conspiracy theories came
naturally to him, but to involve the premier magician in Alastari with one did
seem... risky. "There are powerful magicians who aren't on her payroll," he said.
"Fandil of Ardivent, Lady Adeolar of Aruak City, Master Cho--plenty of them. And,"
now Sedalia stood, as well, "I have been involved in politics for a lifetime and
survived it. I am no easy target for an assassin."
Lenpro was silent for several minutes, staring past his gladiator at the rain-
curtained window. Finally he sighed. "The time for caution and second thoughts has
passed," he admitted. "We have already begun, and the blades will fall where they
may. Be careful."

                             Notes from the arena champ.

Greetings once again, Ardivent!

Fandil, Fandil, Fandil, I appreciate the acknowledgement from you but you spelled my
name wrong four times! Spell it with me--N-I-V-I-X! That's with an X not a K. I am
sure it was an honest mistake but please take note!

Caddo Scot, well I was kind of shocked to run into you again, but I am glad the
result was the same.

I seem to have misjudged my political points. If I hold the throne THIS time I
should be gone!

I don't have much time today so....

Swing true warriors!

Nivix

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings, Warriors of ARDIVENT. Allow this humble servant Novgorodny Vir to
give you a respite from the fights in the form of this Spyreport. The boys at
FANDILS left the arena dejected, after being kicked out of the top spot by THE ZEN
ZONE. Good show! Those betting on FANDILS lost their shirt, as FANDILS lost their
fighting abilities: 0-2-0. What's a move up by 3 you ask? (alright, maybe you
didn't ask) Cause for celebration, according to BLUVALLEY WARRIORS. INFERNAL LORDS
posted a nice gain, to come in 4th. Everybody loves a winner... Practice pays for
BANNIR PARK, who pummelled SHELLEY, to pocket 17 points. Win some, lose some.
Speaking of which, BANNIR PARK was winsome, after beating SHELLEY and seeing her lose
12 points. NIVIX successfully staved off a grab for the roses by JACINTHE of
BLUVALLEY WARRIORS. Does ARDIVENT have no one talented enough to dethrone it? So
who was the warrior seen charging into immovable walls and challenging dead trees?
Someone's got a basic problem...
And how sociable are ARDIVENT's warriors? Come, let us see. Perhaps the
warriors of INFERNAL LORDS should take up some hobbies, as they are the most avoided
team... Like a pup with its tail between its legs, FANDILS scurried away from
INFERNAL LORDS. Oh, the shame! Everyone is famous for fifteen minutes, and CADDO
SCOT is it right now. Most challenged warrior. Isn't BLUVALLEY WARRIORS proud!
CADDO SCOT found himself challenged by a warrior 21 below: GODZILLA. GODZILLA of
THE BEARS II kept his wits as he was overcame by CADDO SCOT.
Ah, the duel! The roar of the oppenent, the smell of the crowd! Ask not for
whom the sword slashes; it slashes for thee.
All good things must come to an end. More important duties call me. ARDIVENT,
I leave you now. The Duelmaster has agreed to foot my bill at The Seaside Manor.
'Til next time-- Novgorodny Vir

Nivik, Nivik, Nivik! That's all I hear! I'm jealous! -- Fandil The Wise

Technogeek -- Get those tongues back in here! What's wrong with you, young man!? --
WOF

Jacinthe -- I had a good time. I hope it happens again. -- Shelley
P.S. Iron boots? Hmmmmm. Perhaps for tap-dancing class?

Deceptive Delila -- Wow! You bamboozled me! Salute. -- Bernice

Bannir -- I had to chuckle about your question "Dolly Parton has two kills?". I'll
bet they were BIG kills! -- Bernice (somewhat jealous of Dolly)

Sanderscot --Special move?!?...after all that you've got a special move!?!...didn't
see that one coming. I'm sure I was honored. -- Arrogant Andy

Ba da Da da Da da Da! -- Godzilla!!! Ya-hoo! (we've got nothing against slashers) --
Betty

Terror Bear -- Good fight, you take a heap of convincing. How-some-ever it just so
happens I am the persuasive sort. -- Two Jacks

Bernice -- Great slog. You'll notice I'm still ankling in Ardivent's sands. As part
of my lay-low policy I changed living quarters...took the room in the back. (folks
coming and going so) I figure it'll easier to stay out of sight. Or even hind-
sight. Ha! -- Delila

Technogeek -- I truly hope the fine ladies of RSI get that straightened out! You are
a great asset and a worthy adversary here in Ardivent and in the game in general! --
DeGotti

The Blessed -- I guess you are! -- Abbol

Memnock -- You had better turn it around here shortly or you will be fighting at
night! -- DeGotti

It seems my warriors names are tricky to spell or there is a spelling gremlin about!
Nivix and then Broqus! I tell ya I gets no respect! :P -- DeGotti

Shelley -- I understood your team name to be Fan-DIL. But when you get going with
the fans and fancy footwork, I wonder if some of you aren't Fan Dancers, instead?
It's amazing to watch, which is inconvenient in an arena situation--I could've been
killed! -- Jacinthe

Memnock -- I knew a guy named Memnon once, any kin of yours? He did a, well, to call
it a "fortune-teller act," even a high-class one, is maybe insulting him. But that's
what it amounted to. He never claimed--in so many words--to tell the future, what he
*said* was that he "read the currents of the present* around a person. It was spooky
because he was right oftener than most people wanted to admit. So, if you are kin of
his and can do anything similar, well, don't put yourself out for me, okay? I don't
want to know. -- Decker Cobb

Nivix -- Oh, good! I really didn't want to be Duelmaster again. It would be totally
wrong, and also, this gives you the bloodfeud victory, doesn't it? Unless you
already had it. Right, you probably did. Still, I don't mind this at all. -- Caddo
Scot

The Kung-Fu Master? There's just something really *wrong* about losing because my
opponent kept darting behind me and deafening me with his "fingernails on the helmet"
trick. Talk about nerve-shattering! -- Bannir Park

Arrogant Andy -- That'll take you down a notch, eh? A tip: never lead with your
face against me. Faces are among my most favorite targets, even if Jorja won't
authorize 'em. -- Sanderscot

Delila -- Of course it was. It's one of the curses of men that authority figures who
also happen to be men would rather scowl at US than at a woman. Unfair advantage, if
you ask me. But then, that's life. -- Bannir
