Notes from the arena champ.
Holy cow! (That's not blasphemy, you know, as they do believe in holy bovines
in some countries.) I did it again! I find it hard to believe I defeated Bone Mill
three times in a row, including one on his challenge. Prior to this trio, I would
not have been sure I could beat him once. Perhaps I am a better warrior than I
think, but I tend to place more credence in the "lots of praying" alternative. Oh, I
do get plenty of monastery time, but that taskmaster Fandil The Wise makes us
practice more than they do on "Dancing With The Stars"! (Go Bristol Palin and Kurt
Warner!)
I asked the wise Fandil if I could go to the Challengers Mailer Tournament, and
he responded; "Why would you want to place three tournament losses on your record?"
I hope he was being facetious, and would rather believe his original statement that
The Consortium had chosen to focus on newer teams for this tournament. Besides, he
just might be right with his prediction. As you can see from my DM posts, I am not
so confident of my warrior stats and ability, but do place great confidence in my
support system. Pray. Pray. Pray.
Meanwhile, here I am at the top of The Arena Of The Red Sands. Will it be Bone
Mill again? Or will Errata or Deathtongue get through with a challenge? They are
all formidable, and I would bet that any one of them would be favored by those Las
Vegas Oddsmakers. Pray for their souls.

SPY REPORT
If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
ARDIVENT brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Of course, we're all terribly
impressed to see ANCHORMAN win a fight and gain 18 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, LILA
DEANE beat HOO BOY and HOO BOY lost 12 points. You're breakin' my heart. And if
variety is the spice of life, ARDIVENT may be getting bland, as BROTHER JEROME stays
top dog in the city. I'm not in a very good mood today, but why am I telling you
this? You want to know what's new, don't you, ARDIVENT?
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. What's the big D? WOE TO WHITECHAPEL was the most
avoided team? Bunch of lily livered... grumble... mumble... curse... And it looks
like FANDILS avoided them the most this turn. What a pack of would be losers, if you
ask me. Hmph. ANCHORMAN was challenged more times this turn than the Duelmaster.
Now was the DM insulted or feared? Heh, heh.
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. Honor is like a chainmail shirt, it only
shines through use. Certain nameless cowards will doubtless rebuke me on this one.
I was about to buy a new quill pen the other day, but some fighter took it for
an epee. Forgive me for writing with a dagger. Well, I've had enough of this
drivel, and I'm sure you have too. Off like a dirty shirt of padded leather. Glad
