DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
I would like to think I have a charmed life; after all, I am the Duelmaster, and
I earned it. But my early life was not easy and certainly not charmed. I was killed
in this very same Ardivent Red Sands arena many moons ago. Somehow Fandil The Wise
found a fight-the-dead-for-rebirth tournament and I 8-3-2'd myself back to the
living. (Thank you, Mr. Famdil!) I guess I have been charmed since I died. Does
that really sound right?
Anyway, this DM Title may be my one and only. I will be abdicating this throne
--Robert Johnson, you lucky dog!--as I am fighting as a maxed Champion, a very, very
hard class for a basher, in the upcoming Spring Mailer. It would have been more fun
fighting you, Robert, even though you have beaten me before, but the tournament
calls.
Good luck to everyone. Wish me well in the tournement--at least as far as
staying alive.

SPY REPORT
It is I, Novgorodny Vir, Spymaster of Spymasters. Look on my work, ye mighty,
and despair! FANDILS? Who? THE 27 CLUB is the top team these days, buddies! THE
27 CLUB had cause to celebrate, after PIGPEN got 14 points by beating ROCKSOCK JONES.
Win some, lose some. Speaking of which, PIGPEN was winsome, after beating ROCKSOCK
JONES and seeing him lose 13 points. A certain someone saw SADIE at The Victory
Tavern with the shakes, and now she fails to show up to defend hers throne. What a
pathetic slob! In ARDIVENT, nothing is permanent (except Death), and we find
ourselves a new Duelmaster, ROBERT JOHNSON. Word has it one team in ARDIVENT is
taking speech lessons to try to bore their opponent to death. I'll bet it works.
A Zenmaster once told me, 'Does not the spinning wheel turn? And do not the
little birds cry out?' Any ideas? Like a horde of jackals fleeing from the lion, so
did the "warriors" in ARDIVENT avoid BLUVALLEY WARRIORS. As a woman of good breeding
scorns the "warriors" of FANDILS, so did that sorry team shy from BLUVALLEY WARRIORS
Is there life after death? Pragmatics (and warriors) know there is death after
life! Oh hard! that to strike a flame, the match itself must needs be wasting!
All good things must come to an end. More important duties call me. Do not
