"So this is Ardivent?" Mysty Eve asked, tossing a look at Gladius.
"Yes, it's good to be back home," said Gladius.
The roads this day were muddy, for a light sprinkle had come upon the city. Six
companions rode into the city, heading toward the stables. Once the horses were put
away, the five warriors followed their manager to the Gladiatorial Commission for
registration.
Standing at 6'8", he stood out among the curious onlookers. His clothes looked
oddest among the group. If seen by a wizard or sorceror, they'd have sworn that the
hulking brute of a man was from another dimension... but that was neither here nor
there.
"I'd like to enroll these five oustanding gladiators into the arena fights."
"Name of the team?" the peeved employee asked.
"The Sovereign," said the hulking manager, seeming very familiar with the
formalities. "These gladiators are as documented: Lady Annabelle, who is a Shew,
Misty Eve, who is a Fennith,--"
"What did you say?!" The Commission employee was clearly taken aback.
"She's a Fennith and she will fight for my team," said the manager, clearly
annoyed. "Let me continue: P-nut Firebeard, who is the flame-bearded Dwarf right
there," he points at his dwarven brute. "Next is a hometown hero, of sorts:
Gladius, an Ardiventi Elf," says the manager, patting Gladius on the shoulder. "Last
is the deadly Black Chaos, a Shagornan Elf."
"Who is captain of this team?" asked the employee, now clearly attentive to the
odd combination of peoples.
"She is," the manager says, placing his hand on Lady Annabelle's
shoulder. She was the same height as her manager.
"Okay, your stable will be on the edge of town, and here are your papers," says
the employee. "What is your name, by the way?"
"You didn't know?" the manager asks with a laugh. "Name's Lord Scorpio,"
Scorpio says, smiling.
Let the fun begin....

Fandil stormed into the Bluvalley guildhouse. He entered quitely enough, with
no slamming of doors, no stomping feet, no shouting. But he was a storm even so.
Everyone moved out of his path, back against the walls or out the back door if they
could.
"Where's Cho?"
"Who?" Brooke Jones blinked and dared ask questions. "We don't know a Cho. Is
he a new gladiator who went astray?"
Fandil frowned at her, though less fiercely than he had been frowning. "Master
Cho. Used to manage this team. Years ago, before Khalhums was closed."
"Never heard of him," Lorenz Klu said.
The others echoed his answer, and Brooke added, "We haven't kept up with the
history of the team all that much. Didn't seem to be much point, you know, and there
was always something else to do." She stared at Fandil for a moment. "Jorja might
know."
"Is she here?"
"Well, no, but--"
"Young woman, matters are serious. Ardivent is menaced, and I need Cho to help
evaluate and oppose our enemies."
Brooke fluttered her hands, a gesture that had always served her well with angry
men. "I'll send word to Jorja, but that's all any of us here can do."
Fandil sighed. The young of this generation were pathetic. "Send for Jorja,
and one of you--" He looked around at the silent gladiators, "Hereford Jones, you go
to the south shore and keep watch. Carefully. The Black Tower has been seen again
out in the bay, and you should consider it hostile and dangerous."
SPY REPORT
Good day, friends and fiends, welcome to your friendly neighborhood spyreport.
I doubt ARDIVENT will ever be the same. It seems the training can make the
difference, as WRATHMEN is pushed out of top team by WE GOT GAME, who came from 2nd
with a 3-2-0 this turn. BLUVALLEY WARRIORS stable has parlayed this turn's 3-2-0
into a 5 space move up the rankings. This brings them up to 5th place. Good work,
guys! The FANDILS guild has had a 3-0-0 turn and deserves to be watched in the
future. You never know where this kind of thing can lead. And let's see, CASPER
JOHN fought MATTHEAS and gained 27 points and contributed to FANDILS' 3-0-0.
MATTHEAS has lost to CASPER JOHN, falling 28 points, while helping make WRATHMEN a
2-3-0 turn. And not without some honor, KASPAROV now claims the title and throne of
Duelmaster of ARDIVENT. By the way, was that our Duelmaster that I saw last night,
cramped under the table at The Seaside Manor?
The crowd's roar, the smell of iron and leather, mixed with sweat, what more
could a warrior ask of life? Well, besides that. I also notice that the FANDILS
stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on ARDIVENT, what are you afraid
of? And guess who avoided FANDILS stable the most? Believe it or not, it was WE GOT
GAME. Anyone surprised? The most challenged warrior this turn was BLUVALLEY
WARRIORS' warrior BILLY JOE. More fighters challenged him than challenged the
Duelmaster!
We only live a short time in this world, so why not take a sharp blade, and
shave it close? We'd like to remind certain teams not to rob the graves of their
enemies. You know who you are; and it's considered rude.
Thought for the day, a new sword shines bright, but the notched sword sings the
sweetest. Always good to rest in ARDIVENT, but never good to wear out my welcome.
Look for me in future turns. Until you see my quill in ARDIVENT again, farewell--

Greetings Ardivent, My name is Lord Scorpio, and I bring to you a privileged group of

One-four, and I am so glad for that win, doubly glad that it is MY win. I get
