TEAM SPOTLIGHT
The CONSORTIUM WASTE
Not everything in DM needs to be defined by the parameters and expectations of
today's game: godlings, sandbaggers, tournaments, life-changing prizes, +20 warriors,
etc, etc. Many yet thrive on arena play, and for many years The Consortium was a
presence in 30+ active arenas. The record of over 400 warriors graduated is not
likely to be bested in our DM lifetimes.
You may know of The Consortium for one or many reasons:
A different manager and theme in every arena with many personals, DM columns,
and spotlights.
Helping many rookies and newcomers to understand and prosper in the game.
Running every rollup, with virtually no DM action.
20+ arenas with .600+ W/L record, many with 500+ wins, and some nearing 1000.
No down challenging, little killing, and great respect for opponents.
Well known managers like: Pretty Pandora, Crazy Creepster, Fandil The Wise,
Kennelworth, Ace, Senator Bob Dole, Mr. T, Lenpro, Mino, JD Rockefeller, Snuffy, Oz,
Sweetie-Pie, Midas, Uncle Sam, Oremaster, and many more.
400+ warriors graduated to ADM, with over 30,000 wins in the game
One major factor in all the success was the running of mid-level, mediocre
warriors, the most important of which was The Consortium Waste. How would you like
to have 9 warriors (these are only examples of many more) provide a record of 175-48-
2? No, not scum as by far the majority of wins was by doing damage. These same nine
below provided 16 DM crowns, 4 TVs, and a 98-73-1 tournament record. The
contributions are from DM 20 (Animal Farm: Mino, DM 40 (Demons Of Death: Pretty
Pandora), DM46 (Fandils: Fandil The Wise), DM47 (Land Of Oz: Oz), and DM60 (The Crazy
Creeps: Creepster). The data provided is known starting info supplemented by

the past, please observe Hourglass in DM47 running this very moment (10-12-04) with a

Again folks, another SNAFU! This time though, not my fault. Our last edition
of our beloved news report was eaten by someone in the RSI office. What happened,
who knows and I'm sure just as well that no one really cares. But, I wrote it and
sent it just the same.
So...on with the news.
Looks like Street Legal and his Life's Lessons got taught dearly. They dumped an
0-4 turn. Just as well. Doc Mabuse dropped from the ranks of teams with his
Bordeax-Saintes. Looks like the Vendetta Cartel is getting scarcer and scarcer as
the contest winds down. My advice to them is...don't give up yet. Ain't over till
Eddie the Gimp squeals like a stuck pig...er, I mean...the fat lady sings. Okay, one
and the same.
Top team this turn was Second Bananas. That's Mannequinn. They guy who stands
in the store window and moves only when you ain't looking. But, he took his team to
a 4-1 turn. We'll congratulate him on that achievement.
I've also a couple of more Notable Notes for those who give a dang... Trebors
gets a congrats for their 101st loss. And, if Spawn wins at least one fight next
turn, his Spoonertiks will have had their 100th win. Both are notable because not
many make it that far. Congrats folks.
And, who's the dirtiest downchallenger this turn? Why, none other than our
Kantankerous Kitten, Kat. He went down on Rondol Quiglo 12 points below him. Man,
that ain't right! Quick, someone clean his litterbox 'cause something's smelling
rank with that!
Cheap Thrills, managed by Centauri, sent three of his warriors to the Night
Fights. Guess he wanted to improve his record? And, what's with 50%? That's not
too bad. Better than some here (your's truly included)!
Now, don't quote me, but I hard Master Darque screaming his head off. Something
about having two killed this turn. That has gotta bite. So, our condolences to
Darque Forces and a wish for better replacements. (Yeah, like I care).
Okay, on for this turn's Yellow Rag Awards (although they don't mean a darned
thing):
Chicken Little of the Month: Mannequinn. Seems he's avoiding Spawn. Although,
that's pretty good strategy since they are allied for the Turf War. Of course, we
could also nominate Kat for his downchallenging strategies, too. Nah...we already
blasted him.

Smart Mouth of the Month goes to Hourglass. Like my intention was to have you on

Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings and salutations. This is my last month in the beloved swamp. I'll truly
miss the place. A special note of condolence goes out to Crip for King Crab. Crabby
Patty and I had a little back n forth there for a while, and although described as
'nothing special', he will be missed. This month, rather than going for a kill in
the DA, I'll do the honorable thing and give the top Challenger Champ (Ace Bailey)
the challenge. As per arena, here are my closing stats: 12(1) - 10 - 4 - 17(1) - 17
- 15 - 11. (+2 ATK), (+3 PAR), (+1 DEF). 68 learned skills (2.27/fight) and 132
skills total. According to Sheila Greywand's little envoy, I am naturally adept with
the epee, though I never used the thing, and my favorite fighting rhythm is MO/LO,

and despair! ALL-STAR NANA'S? Who? SKELETON KEY is the top team these days,
buddies! He who laughs last didn't get the joke. Speaking of laughing at jokes,
observe MY DAY. Last week they got 0-0-0 to drop by 8! Nothing works for a team
like victory (How's that for a perceptive observation?) as LIFE'S LESSONS can
attest... Good things come to those who fight well, as TREBORS can attest, moving up
by 5. Practice pays for BURNS, who pummelled HUMBUG, to pocket 20 points. Win some,
lose some. Speaking of which, BURNS was winsome, after beating HUMBUG and seeing him
lose 17 points. Those who hoped for a new Duelmaster were disappointed by FOLMOR
GRIGG, of THE MIDDLE WAY 3, who despite a 20-33-0 couldn't overcome NORTH FORK's
Number 1. So who's the team that's been walking into taverns last week and ordering
milk? Sounds like a PR stunt to me.
My mother wished me to avoid conflict, and seek the gentle trade of Spyreporter.
But warriors aren't supposed to avoid fights! Perhaps the warriors of ALL-STAR
NANA'S should take up some hobbies, as they are the most avoided team... Like a pup
with its tail between its legs, DUR EDHEL scurried away from ALL-STAR NANA'S. Oh,
the shame! Everyone is famous for fifteen minutes, and ACE BAILEY is it right now.
Most challenged warrior. Isn't ROYAL FLUSH proud! WHITE SETTLER challenged SISTER
MARY ELEPHANT! Who says NATURAL B. KILLERS 2 are just a bunch of wimps! WHITE
SETTLER of NATURAL B. KILLERS 2 kept his wits as he lost to SISTER MARY ELEPHANT.
Is there life after death? Pragmatics (and warriors) know there is death after
life! Will BORDEAUX - SAINTES never avenge BELLILAUD's death??? Oh brave(?) new
world, that has such people in it! 'Tis new to me! Forgive and forget is not my
motto. Take heed, CHEAP THRILLS, as ANGRY DRAGON's death remains unavenged. Never
one to advocate diplomacy and restraint, I was pleased to see NATURAL B. KILLERS 2
retaliate against FEATHERS FLYIN' in bloodfeud! Charity is unknown in NORTH FORK,
and rightly so. DARQUE FORCES exacted their revenge against FEATHERS FLYIN'. Ask
not for whom the sword slashes; it slashes for thee.
Do not think spyreporting in NORTH FORK is the highlight of my life. As if
buffeted by forces of nature beyond my control, I must take my leave of this place.

Youngblood's Three and Out Contest
I would like to take this time to announce and invite all managers to compete in what
I think will be an awesome contest. If you haven't ever TC'd at a tourney before,
here is your chance. The contest will start Wednesday, December 1, 2004, but a
chance will be given November 17 to dark arena, only, any warrior that you do not see
fit to run in the contest. So now that I have your attention, here are the rules
(like you didn't know they were coming sooner or later).
1. Any manager participating can enter one team, only.
2. No sandbagging whatsoever. (I will keep up with it, every turn.)
3. No teams or warriors will be allowed to run after contest starts.
4. All warriors will run until they lose three times, after three losses they are
eliminated.
5. If a warrior sits out a turn, they are accounted with a loss in the contest.
This is to keep warriors with winning records from sitting out until the end of
the contest.
6. If a warrior is killed during the contest, the replacement cannot enter the
contest.
7. If a warrior is killed, bloodfeuding is allowed, but only by a warrior that is
active in the contest.
8. If a warrior is run after being eliminated, the manager is disqualified from the
contest, no questions asked.
9. Challenges are legal, up or down.
10. Contest will keep going until 1 warrior is left without three losses, and that
warrior, of course, is accounted the winner.
11. All managers participating will be asked to purchase a rollup certificate, to be
awarded to the winners of the contest.
