TEAM SPOTLIGHT
... HOW TO JOIN THE TURF WARS ...
Turf War VII is a competition of alliances composed of one to five managers/
/teams. Yes, one can battle as an individual team if said manager so desires. TWVII
is so designed to be more about wins and losses than past events have been, and since
it is mostly composed of plus(+) points to the winner and minus(-) to the loser,
Smaller teams can be quite competitive. Minus(-) team scores definitely do occur,
usually to the larger teams.
So, as Vae Victus asked in his DM47 personal, "... thoroughly confused about how
to join or if I even can..." this spotlight's purpose is to make it clear how simple
it is to join in the Turf Wars.
1. Any manager/team can join. Any. (As long as they have or place a team in
DM47
....................
a. If they provide two rollup certs (not teams, but certificates for teams) to
the moderators. These certs are part of the prize pool.
....................
1. If they declare in writing in a DM47 newsletter (only) that they are captain
of a team and list the team/alliance name
2. Note that they must then later (or at the same time) in a DM47 newsletter
(only) confirm/accept any other members to their alliance -- but after or at the same
time as those other members commit in the newsletter (only) to joining his alliance.
.................... OR ....................
1. If they declare in writing in a DM47 newsletter (only) that they join an
alliance (or Captain), listing their team and Manager name.
2. AND they are then confirmed (same newsletter or later) in a DM47 newsletter
(only) by the Captain of the alliance
So, there you have it. A team captain has no "formal" responsibilities other
than declaring his team and alliance, confirming all teams that join his alliance,
and distributing any winnings to his team that he receives from the moderators. Of
course, some teams may expect more that just those duties from their Captain, but
that is an individual alliance decision.

Notes from the arena champ.
Have you ever fought your shadow? It can be tricky and shifty. It can move as
the lights move, changing size and position with each slight shift of the source that
casts the darkness. It is I, your Duelmaster or so I have been dubbed "My Shadow."
I first received my name while training, well before I ever made my way to the great
sands of this fine arena. Grimm said I responded as if I was my opponent's image
cast on the bloodied field of our great city, and so he named me.
I wish to thank my fine opponent, Kana Ballistic, and rest easy I plan to leave
the arena as soon as the Isle calls. I must join my friends who have moved on before
me. Ahh, the memories of the last turf war. It echoes in our hearts still to this
day. The competition we faced showed us grit, determination, and honor. So, it is
with this spirit that I wish upon you as your next games come to happen. I would
like to leave you with this, before anyone changes this city's name, think of why you
wish to change it from the one now bestowed upon it. Good luck on the sands, and
stay out of the grave.
SPY REPORT
It's me, The Unknown Spymaster, back to give you this week's Spy Report. Sit
back in your seats and we'll have more fun than a barrel of Zontanis. Coming up with
a solid 2-3-0 outing, BEATNIK HORDE has advanced 8 places in the rankings. Advancing
in the rankings was ALASKAN PIPELINE who went from last turn's 18-13-1, to this
week's record of 21-14-1. Hey everybody, watch out for CARRIE, who flew up 22 points
in the rankings after mashing THE USEROUS MERCHANT like a melon. Keep your eye on
this gal. Ya know, some days it doesn't pay to walk out on the sands. KISS OF DEATH
was beat by GOLDEN CAP and drops 14 points. Well, everybody's pal MY SHADOW moved
his record to 11-3-0 by defeating TNT in the Duelmaster's Title Bout and gaining 11
recognition points. Can you believe they are paying me 10 gold to deliver this
stuff?
Here is other news that is of note. Did you hear that THE BIZZARR was most
avoided team this week? Well, knowing the personal hygiene of THE BIZZARR's
warriors, I'm not surprised! And you guys like to boo me? Well, unsling your
rasberries, cause BEATNIK HORDE beats feet every time THE BIZZARR smiles at them.
Try farming, eh? Well just about everybody wants a piece of RELAMPAGO, who was this
week's most challenged warrior. Getting lots of flowers from sympathetic fans was
RELAMPAGO, who was successfully challenged by GORGON who had a mere 22 points more
than RELAMPAGO. Definition of petty: GORGON subdued RELAMPAGO, a mismatch of 22
points. In a touching display by a 'touched' warrior, ACE OF BASE went after
AGOSERIS, who was higher by 22 points. Well, when the dust settled, ACE OF BASE was
beat by AGOSERIS. VINCERE MORS of IN QETERNUM had better have a good reason for
challenging down 12 points in a challenge which he won. I thought VINCERE MORS
showed great skill and promise when he beat BENGAL. All right, so I slept through
it! Big deal!
Death is kind of like a new puppy: he's always around wanting to play. (Ha
Zontani, how's that for a wise saying?). This week 7-18-0 DETARTRATED was sent to
the Dark Arena. I know a lot of fighters with similar records who might take notice
of this. Yesterday I talked to the ALASKAN PIPELINE's manager and DAFNE, slayer of
TRAVELLING NOME. The manager: 'I think I can, I think I can'. DAFNE: 'I already
did'. Ask not the elves for counsel, for they will say both yes and no. Silly
buggers, eh?
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of
you whom I have not offended yet. C'mon, Leadfoot, let's make some tracks. Its been
