                                    TEAM SPOTLIGHT

Who is Public Enemy? Why would a team with warrior ids in the hundreds and a
team id of 24 be doing when Snowbound nears its 300th cycle? I started this game in
1988ish and came in on turn 3. I was 16 and living on a military base in Japan. My
dad's co-worker, a 2nd lieutenant showed me Duel Masters and I was intrigued. After
reading his copy of Mike LaPlants Duelmasters Handbook I made this team, Public
Enemy. I ran that team for 21 turns before stopping. All paperwork was lost long
ago. Funny thing with life is this. You look back and remember so little of what
happened. I'm turning 40 in June and I can honestly say I don't remember 99% of what
happened over all those years. But for some strange reason I would remember things
like odd numbers are great. Or a great axe needs a min of 13 strength like the war
hammer even though the hammer weighs 2 and the axe 5. Or the order of protection and
weight the armor is. Or... I would try to figure out what my stats would be. Not
what I want it to be but what I AM with a total of 84 points to assign. 8-9-11-15-
17-13-11 PL or PR. Weird, I know. Far from ideal stats but that is my stats and
what I would be if I was a DM warrior. So for no reason at all I just type in Duel
Masters and find that RSI still charges $10.75 to run a turn. Amazing considering
gas was $.91/gallon when I was driving in 1988 and $4.39 now. So now it's 20 years
later and here I am.
My warriors are at least average. Above average in my opinion. At least for
the time period I started at. I was able to maintain a .600 in a full arena with the
smart challenges and avoids. Things are... different now. Way less teams with the
teams running very good warriors with designs superior to mine. Designs I wouldn't
have even thought of. Ran Public Enemy in their first tournament last month and my
champions got stomped by warriors with a 3-1-0 arena record. My guys are almost good
enough, but not quite. I did win my first 2 fights but it was against warriors with
a lot lower FE. Not to take anything away from those warriors, but 10+ FE
disadvantage isn't quite fair. The fights I have lost, some were close. Maybe in a
few more turns with a few more skills. Or maybe I'll still be just a step behind.
Okay, for manager name. I used Pec Killer for various games over the years so I
guess I'll go with that. It was weird seeing the spy report and having a Duel Master
and a top team from my other arenas list a "?" for the manager name. See you on the
sands.

Pec Killer -- I will enter your manager name in the lists when making up the
current regional arena newses. -- the Editior
     P.S. Welcome back!

                             Notes from the arena champ.

I did it! Three wins and titles in a row! Only one more fight to go and I
should have my "qouta" for being ploclaimed an immortal Lord Protector. Then I
retire from the movies and lead the good, safe life!
My teammates and I had a hot round at 5-0 last turn! I am proud of us all. I
will be prouder when I am alive and gone from here. Here I come, Isle; here I come.
Next? I hope it is DMIV.

                                      SPY REPORT

The sages err'd not in their foretelling of a god descending upon SNOWBOUND, for
I, Novgorodny Vir, have returned! PUBLIC ENEMY had cause to celebrate, after NASTY
NES got 18 points by beating BULLDOG. A certain someone should cut down on the
drinking and practice more, after losing 12 points to MATH. (Discrete enough, MOLDAR
NAY?) Duelmaster DURANGO KID from LIFE IMPACTS is going for the gold, as he
challenged MIDDLE WAY 6's GOBERT HINNY. Ooh, the excitement! GOBERT HINNY found out
that SNOWBOUND isn't a democracy. You've gotta be the best to be Duelmaster here!
Word has it one team in SNOWBOUND is taking speech lessons to try to bore their
opponent to death. I'll bet it works.
And how sociable are SNOWBOUND's warriors? Come, let us see. Perhaps the
warriors of PUBLIC ENEMY should take up some hobbies, as they are the most avoided
team... As a woman of good breeding scorns the "warriors" of LIFE IMPACTS, so did
that sorry team shy from PUBLIC ENEMY Is it charming personality? Conversational
abilities? Good oral hygiene? Whatever it is, GOBERT HINNY is the most challenged
warrior.
The moving sword slashes, and having slashed, moves on... Oh hard! that to
strike a flame, the match itself must needs be wasting!
All good things must come to an end. My fingers tire and I fear my incessant
prattling may cause unfair judgement upon my impeccable character. SNOWBOUND, I
leave you now. The Duelmaster has agreed to foot my bill at The Victory Tavern.
'Til next time-- Novgorodny Vir

Gratters ta Crescendo, Snowbound's best tourny fiter. A good'n, Darque. -- Smitty

Thankee, Lifers. Yon 5-0 were nice! -- Smitty

Better watch out, that extravagant praise may turn their heads!

High Voltage -- We were two hot topics and I was the luckier one. Yours in
exponentials, Math

Veteran Mercenary -- Thanks for standing in against us both. You were great
competition for both the one minute and the eleven minute match. Kudos. We needed
the wins. -- Purple Ace and 4-H

Gobert -- I am not complainin', ya know, but I find it hard to believe that I could
handle one of your massive experience. Twice! Lucky, I guess. ++ Bulldog

All -- Sometimes, someone writes a comment that just plain cracks Smitty up! For
example..."Bulldog -- Yes, but I wasn't done with that leg. -- Gobert Hinny, only
having one leg left to stand on" -- The Life Impacts Team Publicist

Okay, I guess we start this by saluting the tourney participants. -- Jorja and the
Middle Way

Bulldog -- You like chewing on me, don't you? I'm going to have to do something
about that. Bathe in iodine, maybe? I've heard that tastes bad. -- Gobert Hinny
P.S. And the gods know I need it!

Presentation -- What? -- Modlar Nay
P.S. Look, I'm sorry, but the personals-compositor overheated while doing personals
for Xochithlan and Rodeki. Snowbound, meaning me and my teammates, gets the dregs.
The numerical order thing.
P.P.S. Really, we should do the personals in reverse order sometimes. The first on
the list always gets the best material.

Threshpack -- You wouldn't have devastated me if I hadn't already been devastated by
the dumb things Moldar was saying. He wants good material, he should try being
interesting first. -- Ladiro Maels

Smokey Bear -- Great, just what I need, a dwarf bear biting my feet off. -- Shobart
Teegue

Surprise -- One for you. I don't like it when people loom over me. -- Elena Faresta
