                                    TEAM SPOTLIGHT

Okay, time for my semi annual which is more like my annual newsletter speech.
To be honest, I think I have submitted no more than 3 turn sheets since last
September. I guess I find very little desire to make challenges or avoids. With the
limited number of warriors in each class it seems pointless. So I doubt if I spent
every turn micro managing on my stable things would turn out any different. Red
Alert and Threshpack are finally off to ADM. That just leaves 2 more original
warriors in arena 52 before I am just dealing with the new bloods. Red Alert and
Threshpack were part of my first team along with my waste Nasty Nes. There was a
throw away dixie cup striker and a DA to round things out. Came here on turn 3 with
a little knowledge on what to do with the numbers but not really understanding the
exact why. They did good over all, though. Back when I started at turn 3 I do
remember going 3-2-0-1 and had a .600ish win/loss when the arena was about 30-40
active teams. Now for the good stuff.

Red Alert 11-13(1)-5-13-15-17-11 normal damage good endurance. Master Riposte
Ad Expert Initative Attack Expert Decisiveness. 24/28/21/9/10/18. VH/VL scimitar
learns riposte. Terrible learn rate since I came back. Mostly due to having way too
much FE compared to everyone else. Probably cursed in learning and a 13 wit is
nothing to write home about. I would either learn 1 skill or none. Got the expert
in decisiveness and the ad expert in attack within the last 4-5 fights. I really
started to hate this guy. Not going to strike first so maintaining the Initative
isn't going to happen. Can't Riposte because he can't dodge or parry. So basically
he ran in scale and took hits. Sometimes someone would get a bit tired and then the
riposte would kick in and it would be his turn. That didn't happen alot. He could
have had a way worse win/loss record. 24-15 looks better than he deserves. I made
him a slasher because I remember the rulebook saying slashers style of attack was
slower due to the extra movement so I thought a 17 speed would be great. Didn't do a
striker because I had a dixie cup throw away striker on the same sheet.

Threshpack 14(1)-8(1)-10-15-17-9-13 trained to good damage, normal endurance,
trained to cannot take alot of punishment. Ad Experts Iniatiave, Attack, Parry.
Expert Defense. Was stuck on expert attack for over 10 turns and got my expert in
defense within the last 10 turns too. Learned worse than Red Alert. Got 1 shotted
all the time by Life Impact strikers. 22/11/20/24/18/12. L/L Epee learns parry. I
remember running him like a lunger 10-10-6 for like the first 10 turns and he did
real well. Doesn't do too well when actually playing like a parry lunger. Looks
like a waste but I had a better waste in Nasty Nes so he turned into a PL. It sucked
so much being 1 shotted by Life Impact strikers I actually trained con. Didn't
really make a difference though.

So this makes #6 to ADM. 1 slasher 2 pl 1 waste 1 lunger 1 striker. Things I
have learned over the last year since my return in my 3 arenas. I like running parry
whatever even though they barely make it to .500 in basic. Parry whatevers should
have a con of at least 10 and I still don't add points to con at roll up. 11 wits
suck and 13/15 is just slightly better. I don't like reading my lunger slasher
basher striker fights, just don't seem very exciting. It's embarassing to explain to
someone what I am doing with all these stacks of paper on the table filling out
strategy sheets. It's a game, not homework. I'm too old to be doing homework. No,
it isn't part of my job either. You read the fights and make decisions to make the
next fight better. No, I can't email this I have to regular mail it that is why I am
writing. I just turned 41 and I can't describe this any better than when I was 15.
So much for with age comes wisdom.

                             Notes from the arena champ.

That makes ten! Let's do something different. Let's try to think back to the
summer of appx 1962 and list some (I will never remember all) of the 17 projects /
categories Smitty exhibited in the Perry County 4-H Fair.
Forestry (won a summer Forestry Camp trip) went on to State
Sewing (modeled, on stage the apron with other exhibitors, he made)
     Safety (Home)
     Animal Husbandry
Entomology (50 insects in a box on pins)
     ........... memory begins to fail
Ahhhhh, the good old days. Back to the grind. Here I am. Come and get me.

                                      SPY REPORT

Oh, hi. Its just little 'ol Debby Tonte. Thought I'd check out SNOWBOUND to
see what's new. I talked to SCISSOR ME TIMBER's manager before the fights. He said,
"We're gonna do good." And look at this: 4-1-3! Psychic, or what! MVP award for
MAN BEAR PIG? SCISSOR ME TIMBER's proud of him after beating EMBEZZLING SCRIBE and
getting 16 points. Talk about yer major upsets! VERRA's match with SYNERGY cost her
a loss of 7 points! The Duelmaster isn't going to stop just cause he's Number One!
LADIRO MAELS knows this. He was challenged by the Duelmaster. This Duelmaster is
like something else! 4-H stopped LADIRO MAELS dead in his tracks! Who was the
wiseguy that said SNOWBOUND's Duelmaster was paying for drinks at The Victory Tavern?
Don't look at me!
Look, you guys stick to fighting, all right? PUBLIC ENEMY was SNOWBOUND's most
avoided team. Is there some award for that? Is there some deep dark secret why LIFE
IMPACTS' been avoiding PUBLIC ENEMY so much? Or is it just that they're too scared?
Like, is LADIRO MAELS popular, or what? He was challenged the most in all of
SNOWBOUND! He's got a 11-21-0, is that good?
Man, all these warriors dying and killing each other! Don't you guys ever give
it a break? Fight, fight, fight. Is that all you guys can do?
I really didn't, you know, study when I was a kid. Who would've guessed I'd be
a famous Spyreporter? I'm getting tired of writing this stuff, so I'm calling it
quits. Remember you guys, ease up sometimes! Chill out! Later, Debby Tonte
