                             Notes from the arena champ.

For those of you wondering, I got my name from Crip's favourite Sesame Street
skit years and years ago, when 4 muppet beatles came on and sang about the letter
'B', which happened to be the letter of the day. In supervising a three year old,
there's a new second place contender as, recently, some plain white 'T' figures came
on signing about themselves to the tune of "Delilah" by the Plain White Tees.

                                      SPY REPORT

Well, what are you looking at, SNOWBOUND? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens
before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. MESOPOTAMIA turned their 4-0-0 turn into
a 2nd place rank in the listings this turn. Any better than this, and you get put on
hit lists. Gee, I'm impressed, a 3-1-0 is nice, but don't get cocky, OPEN SESAME,
the Fates teach humility, and the Fates are proud. Of course, we're all terribly
impressed to see REMARKABLE WORD win a fight and gain 16 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk,
REMARKABLE WORD beat GARUTH HOLM and GARUTH HOLM lost 14 points. You're breakin' my
heart. Going for broke or broken, our Duelmaster NEFARA challenged this turn. And
if variety is the spice of life, SNOWBOUND may be getting bland, as THE BEATLES stays
top dog in the city. I'm not in a very good mood today, but why am I telling you
this? You want to know what's new, don't you, SNOWBOUND?
He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day, the coward. What's
the big D? MESOPOTAMIA was the most avoided team? Bunch of lily livered...
grumble... mumble... curse... And it looks like OPEN SESAME avoided them the most
this turn. What a pack of would be losers, if you ask me. Hmph. Ooh, I'm
frightfully impressed, GARUTH HOLM was this turn's most challenged warrior. Watch
that ego swell, sports fans. I guess I can give a little credit to PIGEON FROM HEL
of GRAVE DANCERS for challenging up by 25 to HEART OF GLASS. PIGEON FROM HEL won to
get 45 points of recognition.
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. Titanium shields and bamboo daggers, guess
what brave team is developing these kinds of weapons?
What does the SNOWBOUND arena have in common with the inns? It's just as
comfortable to sleep in either place. Ha ha ha ha! Phlllt! Just had to do that
before I leave the fine city of SNOWBOUND. I feel much better now. I see the crowds
are getting restless, I must leave now-- Snide Clemens

Ursulina -- I am glad I am not YOUR Grandma also. -- Grandma Miller

Kingu -- It is a long, lonely road, so endurance is a virtue. -- Circle K

Hairy Monster -- You are kinda cute once one gets past all that shaggy fur. Perhaps
a shaveandahaircut would help your performance? -- Quality

Heart Of Glass -- I am not at all sure why my manager had me challenge you, but,
unlikely as I thought it might be, I liked the outcome. -- Saxaphone (practicing his
scales using an old slobbery reed)

Oliver Queen -- You were so easy that I even wonder if you have a grandma? -- Grandma
Miller (advertising her "Grandma for hire")

Pigeon From Hel -- Jeez, you are good! You beat me with one hand tied behind your
back and one missing L! -- Cantex (not yet recovered from his L of a headache)

Dang! Them Beatles be number one. I shore lak their oise makin'. Yup. -- smitty

Muh Lifers done gud agin! Yup. Two 'o them 4-1ers inna row. Yowser! -- Smitty

Spectra -- Just how many of them are you? -- Remarkable Word

Garuth Holm -- You do know that you are supposed to attack first, then I confound you
with my musical repertoire. Please get with the program. -- The Beatles

Quality -- We meet again. I'm not a fan of that! -- Hairy Monster

Nefara -- Where's our skills? We were promised skills! -- Bert & Ernie

Bonescraper -- Sorry about the down challenge, mate. You were very good there on the
sand. I'll get the first round of drinks. -- Necroshade

Ursulina -- Y'weres brilliant there on t'sand, y'weres me very own. -- Agony

Cantex -- Wow, you can fight. I gave that match everything I had, and still you came
at me like a mad man. -- Pigeon

Newlin -- Ya'ur good bloke for staying with me at hospital whil'll they patch me up,
and thanks for sharing those chocolate covered grasshoppers. Can I have some more?
-- Bone Prophet

Convicted Thief -- What was that, you're a bit of daft there. -- Ear Worm

Guys -- Thanks for all the fun. -- Lashing Lily

Lily -- Great job, you can run the byday opt for me. O, Bone Prophet tells me that
you are t'one who let the water freeze over the lift down in the basement. Boy,
Necroshade was not happy about carrying me coffin down all those stairs. -- Liam

Kennelworth makes the best Corpse Reviver drink, hands down, mate, and he takes
cheques. -- Liam

Buddy Lee and I may be at the next Turf Wars. Just maybe, o my. -- Liam

We salute those who fought in the summer tourney. -- Jorja and those who walk the
Middle Way

Grandma Miller -- Oh, wow! Peach cobbler? I'm THERE for it. -- Oliver Queen
P.S. I'm glad it's hand-picked. I hate it when people pick the peaches with their
feet, the fruit gets bruised and just doesn't smell as good, either.

Agony -- Maybe if you got a partner, so you could be a paragony, you'd do better? --
Ursulina Trell

The Beatles -- I must be more confused by that fight than the Infirmarians realized,
because I keep imagining that I'm walking through fields of strawberries. The smell
is tempting, but my socks are getting stained. -- Garuth Holm

Cuneiform -- What, was that something important? I thought it was just a mud pie? --
Jenna Kuul

Bone Prophet -- Right: the hip bone connected to the thigh bone, etc, or we all fall
down. I like that kind of prophesy. Simple, straightforward, inarguable. -- Newlin

                                NAME CHANGE-O-RAMA

There was a line outside the Gladiatorial Commission's registry office. There
often was, but surely not now? Alarond the Scribe, who had drawn office duty today,
frowned at them.
A stocky, fit, moderately handsome gladiator stepped up to the counter. "I want a
name-change," he said. "How can I do my best known as," he shuddered, "'Dangling
Eyeball'? My name is Joe, and I want to use it."
A small and very shapely woman stepped up beside him. "And I am really tired of
being known as 'DA Bait'." She smiled, causing Alarond to sway where he stood. "I'd
like to be known as... Aphrodite, I think."
The others crowded forward, each advancing a claim, the babble of voice rising to
a roar, the crowd beginning to look like a mob--and every member of it armed and
dangerous.
Alarond raised his hands to quiet them, without much success. He raised his
voice, too. "We'll do it! A Name-Change-O-Rama, as soon as we can get the paperwork
lined up! Two or three months, maybe--"
The gladiators howled in protest at the delay.
"No, listen! The files here are HUGE, it will take time to get everything
straight. You've got to be patient. It WILL happen!"
