DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
(The being sitting on the throne is a massive, bronze-skinned giant, standing over 7
feet tall. Smoky tendrils dance from his glowing eye sockets. He wears nothing but
a loincloth and chains.)
Summoned to this plane by my dark lord's servants on Alastari, I find myself the
Duelmaster of Tricorus through curious fate and circumstance. Of Sea and Wind spoke
of his presence, but was apparently called away to attend to matters of the Great
Beyond. This happenstance, this chaos, the swirling maelstrom of pain and death,
pleases me, for on the back of Mahagal, I climb to seize the title of Duelmaster.
Let us see if the mortals of Tricorus can wrest this pitiful honor from me. For
though my damned soul in the nether planes is immortal, my form here is not.
While I remain Duelmaster, I shall challenge all beneath me so as to give each
their chance for glory or death. Upon the morn I bring the Chains of Torment unto
Grapefruit. A laughable name, but perhaps a clever one as well -- for who will not
but let their guard down when they hear they must battle a man bearing the name of a
citrus fruit? Regardless, the mortal has risen through the ranks of Tricorus and
requires my attention. If it is the Dark One's will, I will smash this Grapefruit to
a pulpy mass.
So gird your loins, fruit-man. My True Name is unpronounceable in the tongues
of this world, but you may call me:
BEAST
SPY REPORT
The sages err'd not in their foretelling of a god descending upon TRICORUS, for
I, Novgorodny Vir, have returned! QUESTIONS? Who? RAISING R'LYEH is the top team
these days, buddies! Nothing works for a team like victory (How's that for a
perceptive observation?) as RAISING R'LYEH can attest... QUESTIONS had cause to
celebrate, after WHEN got 21 points by beating EVERYONE BURNS. Win some, lose some.
Speaking of which, YES? was winsome, after beating WACHICHU and seeing her lose 12
points. BEAST found out being TRICORUS' Duelmaster isn't all nuts and berries,
receiving 4 challenges! Well, Duelmaster BEAST challenged FRUITS' GRAPEFRUIT. Is a
7-7-1 good enough? In TRICORUS, nothing is permanent (except Death), and we find
ourselves a new Duelmaster, GRAPEFRUIT. Word has it one team in TRICORUS is taking
speech lessons to try to bore their opponent to death. I'll bet it works.
So much to report, so little time! Like a horde of jackals fleeing from the
lion, so did the "warriors" in TRICORUS avoid QUESTIONS. Like a pup with its tail
between its legs, RAISING R'LYEH scurried away from QUESTIONS. Oh, the shame!
Them's the breaks, JUBHAL. Expecting fair challenges from RAISING R'LYEH is
evidently too much to ask. Warriors of TRICORUS! Do you wish your reputations
tainted by the base challenge of MOUNTAIN OF STEEL?
Like the wind whispering among the pines, do hearest I many disquieting rumors.
You've heard about WARLOCK of DEATH CULT. Death plays no favorites, and neither do
I. What was a 7-9-0 doing on the fields in the first place? Never one to advocate
diplomacy and restraint, I was pleased to see DARK HORSEMEN retaliate against DEATH
CULT in bloodfeud! Ask not a spymaster for counsel, for he will pontificate long
after you have fallen into an unconscious stupor.
Leave me now, you base fools! As if buffeted by forces of nature beyond my
control, I must take my leave of this place. TRICORUS, I leave you now. The
Duelmaster has agreed to foot my bill at The Silver Chalice. 'Til next time--
Novgorodny Vir

PERSONAL ADS
To all -- Death Cult is a bit of a headhunting team. I apologize in advance for the
mayhem they may cause, and well understand the righteous payback they may receive in
retaliation. Stay deadly, my friends. -- Obregon
Yes? -- I ask the questions around here! -- Inquisitor
Another sacrifice for the Dark One! -- Priestess
Habu -- The rumors about you are true. I need to make up some new ones... --
Demagogue
Galdor -- Do not watch the blade too closely, for its dance is hypnotic... -- Warlock
How will the Beast react to a fruit? And what happens if, after a taste, the Beast
finds that fruit a bit too sour? -- Assur
Answer of the Week: I do.
Phaedra -- Thanks so much. My manager overestimated your abilities or perhaps he
underestimates my own. -- Grapefruit
So is this a tease, allowing Grapefruit into the Challenger Champs for a turn letting
me think he is on his way to 17 PPs, or a sign of good things to come? Grapefruit is
one of my most valuable assets right now. But I'm taking nothing for granted,
especially with this one! Until the Commission delivers the graduation notice in my
hands, I await every turn on pins and needles. -- Assur
Jorja -- Okay, I'm REALLY curious of your warrior's stats. Not your grad, but
Saarmighei. Given your history, I want to know what would inspire you, of all the
managers I know, to DA a warrior. If possible, I'd love to know the original rollup,
too, but the designed warrior is fine. -- Assur
Manager of Amazon Elite -- We've had our differences in the past, but I would like to
extend my hand out in friendship. I certainly don't consider you my enemy, merely a
competitor. I challenged Olympia the second time for a couple reasons. 1) I wanted
to see if the first was a true victory or a fluke, and 2) I was hoping to take the
all time popularity award after Barochdal. Unfortunately, Tricorus has for a long
time been sparsely populated, so there aren't a lot of options on challenges. I do
try and role play a bit in the personals, so I try to have consistent comments with
warriors (Grapefruit is a disgruntled sour fruit with a little bit of an inferiority
complex). To be honest, I'm a bit surprised by Grapefruit's performance against both
your warriors. And if Wachichu reaches the champs before Grapefruit graduates, I
fully expect to see your challenges every turn. And if available, don't be surprised
if I give him an avoid every turn. -- Assur, mgr. Fruits
Beast -- How beastly of you, how embarrassing for me. -- Mahaghal
A Convicted Assassin? Piffling. -- Barochdal
Warlock -- Huh, you probably follow Mytori, don't you? -- Glador O'Hare
Urusulah -- Damned overbearing pushy women! -- Jubhal
P.S. A woman six inches taller than me just annoys the heck out of me.
Dark Priestess -- People told me I was too tall for this business. I guess maybe
they were right after all. -- Ghost of Saarmighei
Answer of the week: Look upon it as a challenge!
Question of the week: The Commission? Who do they think they are, anyway?
27 September 10
Note -- We are still looking for additional teams in Arvat, DM 32. I still have a
number of good team rollups available FREE for whoever wants one.
Contact the Devil Advocates ASAP to join the fun! You can either reach me by
diplo or on the RSI site.
Also, whoever sent me the diplo with no name on it requesting a rollup /
information on how to get into Arvat, I'm embarassed to admit that the diplo slipped
out of my folder and was lost. Please just send me another one with your mailing
address and I'll get a rollup to you ASAP. Sorry about that!
