Yes, The Flower Girls are back in Fratsfa to revisit their many old friends and to compete in the Fratsfa Quest. This Consortium affiliate has been traveling and learning the many ways of the different parts of the world, so they can not return to The Flower Shoppe and attend to Fratsfa's every need. So, get ready Fratsfa.... Many moons ago the extravagant four-floor Flower Shoppe was built along the Main Street and bustling downtown area of Fratsfa. The Consortium tapped Lady Fern, the youngest sister of Kennelworth (Aruak City) and Fandil The Wise (retired Ardivent), to manage The Flower Shoppe and the team of Flower Girls. She has been a fixture in Fratsfa ever since. The beautiful Flower Shoppe structure was an architectural delight, built of local stone, and enhanced with marble and ebony imported from far away lands. One of the largest downtown structures, the main street level housed the most famous florist facility in Alastari. The specially imported "Blood Red Rose", a favorite of all the Royalty, and patented by the Zensu's Demoness Pandora, was only available through Lady Fern's establishment. When one wanted a "favor" from Lady Fern, it was always intelligent to first stop downstairs and purchase a single long-stem rose to be delivered in person. While the floral shop was an economic wonder, it paled in comparison to the business that transpired on the upper levels of The Flower Shop. And it was all overseen by the lovely Lady Fern, who because of the magic spell cast on her by the wise Old Wizard Fandil, never seemed to age a day. From the top floor, in her lavish penthouse, The Lady ruled the roost. The basement level, which entailed a massive underground gymnasium, was the training grounds for the gladiators of The Flower Girls stable. Oftentimes, warriors of the massive Consortium affiliates and friends would stop, visit, and train in Lady Fern's underground gladiator empire. On a normal day, ten to twenty gladiators would be utilizing the features of the gym to better their skills. Of course, five of those warriors tended to be the Flower Girls--all finely honed gladiators, all gorgeous and well-endowed females, and all extensively skilled in non-gladiatorial trades. It was on the middle two floors of The Flower Shoppe that the really profitable business was run. The Flower Shoppe was, bar none, the best "pleasure palace" in the land. The features were the five "Flower Girls", but there were always additional ladies-in-training competing for the primary role. Singles, groups, female, male, whatever one lusted for--it is all prominent at The Flower Shoppe. Implements, tools, devices of all nature were available to enhance the visit. It was a place to be remembered for that one time wonderful experience, or a place to visit regularly as a part of one's pleasing lifestyle. Many Flower Girls had passed through Lady Fern's stable, and had gone on to become Lady Protectors in the service of Alastari. Many were Duelmasters and fought in tournaments under The Consortium banner. The current ladies are: Insolent Iris, Volatile Verbena, Horrid Holly, Nasty Nasturtium, and the rookie, Rambling Rose. To be a Flower Girl is considered a great honor, and many vie for the opportunity. But make no bones about it, Lady Fern's primary focus is not economic, but rather in the blood, sweat, and tears of the arena. Winning and being known as "one of the best" drive her every emotion. For their grand return, this reporter was able to interview the Flower Girls collectively at The Flower Shoppe (Ahem, yes, I was well taken care of and had great fun!) and was able to collect these quotes: Lady Fern -- "Come one. Come all. Visit my girls at The Flower Shoppe. You will be very glad you did." Insolent Iris -- "I'll kick your butt in the arena, but if you come to see me at The Flower Shoppe, I will do more to that posterior than kick!" Volatile Verbena -- "I can lick you anywhere, any time of the day!" Horrid Holly -- "Pain! In the arena and on the bed. I am an expert! You don't know what you are missing until you spend some time with me and all my weapons." Nasty Nasturtium -- "I want you! And when I'm done with you, you will keep wanting me." Rambling Rose -- "Be nice and gentle with me--on the sands or on anything else." Yes, The Flower Girls are back in town. Do yourself a favor. Head on over to The Flower Shoppe, buy a dozen of those beautiful Blood Red Roses downstairs, and proceed upstairs to wrestle with one of those floral babes. Maybe they will also agree to a date in the arena. Life will be sweet! * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * Hello all and welcome to Heathen's Cafe. Here you'll find (and hopefully participate in) discussions on the game we all love. Anybody can pose questions and it would be nice if everyone offered answers or proffered a theory to be discussed. Are you all up for this? Ok then! We'll start this turn off with a question regarding tactics--what is their effectiveness and how do their use, favorites, misuse, etc. affect the fight? Are there some warriors that run better without a tactic? I'd like an opinion from all of you! Til next turn... Heathen * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * While I was traveling to Fratsfa from the Land of Unseen, I was looking for warriors who could prove themselves in the arena. I came across the Westwood Inn in which I could rest my weary body. I walked in, looking to see if the Inn had any rooms for the night. There were a few patrons in the Inn, sitting around eating a meal or drinking their ale. While looking around, I had spotted, sitting in the corner, five people who seemed to be warriors of some sort, who were talking among themselves. After I had ordered an Elven ale, I walked up to the table of the five warriors. After I walked up to the table, each warrior looked at me with curiosity and suspicion. When each warrior had looked me over to their content, I introduced myself and they introduced themselves to me. I had asked them if I could sit down and talk with them. When each person had given their approval, I had taken a seat. I then stated where I was going and told them what I was doing, and asked them if they knew any place or anyone who knew the fighting styles that I was asking about. One of them then spoke up saying that they were talking about the same thing and were heading in the same direction. They had said they were looking for a manager who could get them into the contest in Fratsfa. When I told them that I could get them into the contest, would they fight under the name of my team of the Red Knights. I told them that each of their given names would not do. I then told them that I would give each of them a new name. When each one agreed to be given a new name, and fight for Red Knights, I gave each one a title--Ser Red Hand, Ser Red Iron, Ser Red Scar, Lady Red Hawk, and Lord Red Scorpion. And so the Red Knights are here to fight in Fratsfa's Quest for the Best. Ser Red is my scout and Lord Red Scorpion is my champion. This is our first round for the Quest of the Best, and the quality of the competition is looking good. Crip showed up last turn and declared his Otto's Parts stable into the competition. It's always wonderful to share an arena with him. The Flower Girls and their manager the Lovely Lady Fern, who represent the Consortium is another welcomed participant. Other managers of repute showed up last turn, and it looks as if this will truly be a Quest for the Best after all. Speaking of showing up, we had five teams show up last turn, with two teams DAing one warrior each. Gettin' ready, eh? I also want to welcome all the managers who declared last turn. The Expatriate, Dark Knight Wasby, Wulfhere Skullsplitter, Crip, Heathen Hatebred, Le Pentarque, and myself joined the ranks of the declared and were active. Staghorn, and Dark Knight Goat, while not active last turn declared and also join the list. Incarnations and Lethal Weapons both became active last turn and will hopefully declare and bring even more respected competition to the sands. Also before I forget, Staghorn, Heathen and Wulfhere Skullsplitter all posted their team histories in the spotlight, while D.K. Goat of Black Knights 2 wrote his in the p-ads. All were credited with the 25 bonus points which will be added to the team scores on T-210. Managers still have 'til T-209 to get their spots in and be credited for the bonus points. (Team histories that are printed on T-210 WILL NOT receive the bonus points. So get 'em done!) I have updated the teams that have declared and have included the scoring format. Dark Raiders, Flower Girls and the Red Knights have all declared via email, so are included in the teams declared list. As long as they all declare their intent to compete and their scouts, they will be scored for the first round. Any team that declares on their first turn will be scored that same turn. Here is the list of all the teams that have declared for the Quest as of last turn. This will also be the format for scoring. Place will show this turn's place first, followed by last turn's place. I plan on leaving them printed throughout the contest for easy reference. 1) Only ONE team per manager entered in the contest. Only one active team in Fratsfa during the contest, PERIOD! 2) Only one TP on your team at a time. (If it dies, then you may replace it.) 3) You must declare (1) warrior as your team scout. Scouts are mandatory. Your team WILL NOT be scored until a scout is declared!!! 4) You do not need (3) three warriors in the initiates class to compete. FE does not play a factor for eligibility!!!! 5) If you bloodfeud, you must use a different warrior each time to score the Bloodfeud points. If a warrior is used more than once, it will only be scored for the win or loss, NOT the bloodfeud. 6) You must declare your team in the p-ads to be entered. 7) A declared champion and scout cannot be the same warrior. 8) Champions are not required (manager's choice). Champions must be declared on their first fight of the contest! I need to amend a mistake in the scoring table. You will see now that a scout kill is worth +5 points. I don't know if I omitted it, or if it was the typist who accidentally missed it. Either way, I just caught it and will also state it in the p-ads. My apologies. Scoring formula: Wins + Kills - Losses = Base score Base score + Variant score = Total score BASE SCORE POINTS: Win = +1 pt Kill = +1 pt Loss = -1 pt VARIANT SCORE POINTS: Scout Win = +2 pts Scout Loss = -2 pts Scout Kill = +5 pts *** Scout death = -5 pts Champion win = +3 pts Champion loss = -3 pts Stylemaster for turn = +1 pt Most avoided team = +2 pts Successful Bloodfeud = +2 pts Failed Bloodfeud = -2 pts Let's say (A) team goes 3 - 2 - 2 = 3 wins + 2 kills - 2 losses = + 3 base score. Team (A)'s champion won (+3 pts) and is style master for the turn (1 pt). His scout lost (-2 pts) for a total turn score of +5 pts. Now, let's say team (B) goes 1 - 4 - 1 = 1 win + 1 kill - 4 losses = - 2 pts base score. His scout won (+2 pts) and the scouts win was a successful bloodfeud (+2 pts). So, the total points for this turn would be +2 pts. (There was no champion on this team.) +25 bonus points will be given to managers that submit a brief history (5 paragraph minimum) including manager alias and stable name by the contest's third turn (T-209). These points will be added to the teams on T-210. **** On to the list of prizes **** 1st Place "Fratsfa's Ultimate Victor" 1) Twelve (12) Rollup gift certificates transferred to 1st place manager. 2) Renaming of Fratsfa arena for six (6) months. 3) Renaming of Dark Arena monsters: Wurmkin, Bandit Prince, and Black Orc. 4) One (1) favorite's potion. * 5) One (1) +1 bonus skill potion. ** 2nd place 1) Eight (8) rollup gift certificates transferred to 2nd place manager. 2) Renaming of Dark Arena monsters: Dark champion and High Elf. 3) One (1) favorites potion. * 4) One (1) +1 bonus skill potion. ** 3rd Place 1) Four (4) rollup gift certificates transferred to 3rd place manager. 2) Renaming of Dark Arena monsters: Mountain Troll and Shewish Giant. 3) One (1) favorites potion. * 4) One (1) skill bonus potion. ** 4th Place 1) Three (3) gift certificates transferred to 4th place manager. 2) One (1) favorites potion * 3) Rename Dark Arena monster, Stone Golem. 5th Place 1) Two (2) Rollup certs 2) One (1) favorites potion * 3) Rename Dark Arena monster, Spy Master. 6th Place 1) One (1) rollup cert. 2) One (1) favorites potion * 7th-10th Place 1) One (1) favorite's potion * All teams who fight at least 67 of the possible 75 fights will get (1) free tournament entry for a warrior of the team that competed in Fratsfa in the first tournament after the completion of Fratsfa's Quest for the Best. ****NOTE**** * -- All potions must be used within (2) turns of the contest end, and on an initiate (tournament class) or higher character on the same team that competed in Fratsfa; this is non-transferable. * (1) One favorites potion gives all faves: Rhythm, tactic and weapon. ** (1) One + 1 skill bonus potion gives +1 to one skill * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * Lightning flashed across the sky as thunder was heard rumbling for miles around. Toker sat on his roofed terrace at his guildhouse in Talcama watching the pouring rain while pondering the past and how it all lead to where he was today.... It had started with a single man. A man who had visited him on his home world of Terra while he was in the field commanding the Emperor's legions against the savage barbarians of Yaoqcetzce. Shortly after his meeting with the cowled man, he found himself in a land he would come to find out was a different plane of existence, a different world. He had arrived by a magical spell the other man had placed on him while he was asleep. As he went around this new world learning the languages and customs of the locals, he by chance met a woman from his home world who explained the way she had arrived to him. It was so nice to hear his native tongue when he never expected to hear it again. In a short time they became companions and he came to love this woman more than life. Ilyena captured his heart like nothing had ever captured it before. They were both warriors born, and ended up joining a mercenary band that roamed Alastari. They enjoyed the time they had together and never complained of the sometimes hard life they had chosen. One day Ilyena woke up sick and went to the man that acted as a healer for their mercenary band. He had told them that she had eaten bad meat, and would be better after a few days. However, after a couple of weeks the mourning sickness just got worse. Finally, they came to a town in the Delarquan Region of Alastari named Xochithlan. Toker, who most called "The General" by now, forced Ilyena to go see the town's herbwife. That was when they found that she was pregnant. After the news that he was going to be a father, Toker and Ilyena agreed that it was time for them to settle down and raise a family. He professed his love and they were married within days. They had done well and amassed a fair amount of riches in their many endeavors as mercenaries and knew they could afford to live in comfort and raise a family. As a few month's time went by, Toker found himself always looking at the horizon. He knew he loved his wife, but he missed seeing what was "always just over the next hill." He knew that his life of adventuring was over and had started frequenting the local gladiator arena where the excitement of watching the fight made his blood race. He enjoyed the martial skills that were displayed and felt he might do well himself as a gladiator and had brought it up to Ilyena. She protested it from the beginning and would not hear of Toker subjecting himself to that type of danger with the baby almost born. However, she knew that her now husband was not like other men who could be content with a job doing the common type of work most men were used to and knew she had to accept it. So one day she brought up the idea of him becoming a trainer of gladiators for a local manager. It would keep him busy, plus as she pointed out, his skills taught to young warriors may keep them alive long enough to attain the type of acclaim they were in search of. There had been gladiatorial games on his home world, and he knew it would keep him in shape and there would be relatively little danger in it for him like his wife wanted. Toker found that he actually enjoyed it, for a period of time. Then came the day he was training a young warrior who had greater potential than any he had seen. The stable manager called the young warrior to the training grounds to fight in an exhibition for some noble that was visiting the city. The young warrior was matched against a veteran who had been around for a long time. This man was known as a heartless killer and a person who delighted in the death of his opponents. Toker had caught the word that the young warrior had spurned a woman who happened to be the daughter of a very wealthy man. Toker knew this was not to be the duel to first blood that it was supposed to be. While the young gladiator was in the armory getting ready, Toker came to him and told him what the duel was really about. The young man refused to back down even knowing that he would most likely be killed. Toker had become very fond of this young warrior and almost looked at him like a little brother. He knew that he couldn't allow him to be killed over a woman's feelings and his own pride. The only way he could figure of getting the young warrior to not fight was to physically restrain him. So without even thinking he laid the young warrior out with a powerful right cross. He then tied him up with a length of cord that was coiled in the corner of the room. Toker knew that he would have to fight the duel in the youngster's place and actually grinned at the thrill he felt. He put on the youngster's armor and marched to the training grounds. He wore a full-helm with leather armor when he approached. The stable manager who Toker had now lost all respect for, was standing in the middle of the sandy ground, explaining that the duel was to first blood only, etc.... Toker had chosen two scimitars. The bloodthirsty gladiator beamed confidence and came at Toker like he had no skill. Within second Toker had drawn first blood and acted like he thought the duel was won, while watching the blooded warrior with a wary eye. Just as he knew, the second he started to turn his back, he saw the other warrior lunge toward him. With a dodge that brought gasps from the onlookers he slashed at the warrior and scored a hit on the man's neck. At first he didn't realize the devastating effect of his attack. With blood pumping furiously from the man's severed jugular, he fell to the ground with death in his eyes. Toker threw off his helm and told the manager that he quit and as he left, he left the manager with a mark from eye to ear as a remembrance of his mistake. He hurried back to the armory to find young Castor struggling with his bindings. Toker cut him loose and told him what had transpired and said that if they both didn't get out of there they would be dead within minutes. Castor hurriedly agreed and grabbed a scimitar and medium shield. They ended up making it out of the guildhouses' training ground with only minor wounds. Toker knew the young Castor had no place to live and told him he could hide out at his house as he knew the rich man would search for him and try to finish what had gotten fouled up in the duel. Not to mention the anger of the manager that Toker had disgraced. After laying low for a couple of weeks, Toker told Ilyena of his wish to start his own stable of warriors. He told of his hatred for managers who had no actual love for the skills that it takes to be a warrior. he told her of his wish to move to the legendary city of Talcama and to learn and compete with the best. At first Ilyena didn't like the idea of moving, but considering the recent problem, she changed her mind. She told him to go ahead and go and she would follow after the baby was born. He didn't want to leave her, but knew it would be for the best. Castor had decided to travel with him and had a few other warriors who felt they would like to join Toker's newly formed Vincere Aut Mori guild. Toker checked out their skills and decided they would do nicely, and they left the next day for Talcama. On the road they met another manager by the name of Wasby who was traveling to the Death Fest in Illis that was sponsored by Hammer. After they made it to Illis together they linked up with an alliance named vendett@UNITED. Toker also finally found out who the cowled man was that had put the spell on him that had brought him to this world. His name was Goat, and after realizing he loved his life on this world more than his past life in Terra, he decided against retribution. Goat, Wasby and Toker became fast friends and formed a new alliance with Abraxis, known as the Desolate Empire. He finally made it to the legendary city of Talcama and set up his home guild there and handled all of his stables that he ran throughout Alastari from this home base. Then came the decision to sponsor their own contest in an Andorian arena. By this time Ilyena and the baby, who they had named Ileta, had moved to Talcama and Ilyena was enjoying the city's joviality. Toker told her about the idea he and his alliance-mates of the Desolate Empire had had. She knew he would be leaving soon and would miss him, but she knew that he had come to love contests over the time that he had been managing. When Toker left he decided to travel to many cities along his way to Andoria to find a city to host the contest. He figured that he could find suitable warriors along the way to fight for him also. It wasn't 'til he was in Andoria that he found the warriors he was looking for. And to find them all in one city had been a blessing. Lord Davors as the man is now named, was a dangerous person with any weapon and showed outstanding skill from the start. Ser Artur Dayne was a true noble who had become bored with the life of fineries as a son in a royal family. All he cared about was being the best with the sword. Ser Ilyn Payne was a quick man who showed such potential. Ser Sturm had the ability to become the best out of them all, but as Toker knew, it was as much mental as physical strength that made a man great in the dueling world. Then there was Ser Hawkwing who was a drunken madman. Only time would tell if he would last. Toker finally brought them to Fratsfa. There the lord of the city received them well and gave his blessings to the proposed contest. Toker started right away by purchasing an old estate near the gladiator arena and started renovating it to suit his purposes. After three hard months of drilling, his stable was ready for competition. The news of the contest had been heralded to every corner of Alastari, and he had received many dispatches from managers claiming their intent to compete. So, with everything in line, Toker rode on his stallion at the head of his Silver Knights stable as it entered the arena for the opening round of the Fratsfa Quest for the Best contest.... It looks like the guys(?) at OTTO'S PARTS had a good week as they went 4-1-0 to put them in 2nd place. I guess steroids help! RED KNIGHTS: Not great, but not bad. Keep up the work and look forward to having better success as your warriors become more seasoned. Hey everybody, watch out for GANGRENE, who flew up 25 points in the rankings after mashing SEVERITY like a melon. Keep your eye on this gal. Ya know, some days it doesn't pay to walk out on the sands. SEVERITY was defeated by GANGRENE and drops 22 points. Our battling duelmaster BLOODY NOSE has managed to hold the title, fending off PANDEMIC's none too subtle advances. Better luck next time, DARK RAIDERS. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but an onion a day keeps T.P.s at bay. But enough of that bunch, let's get on to the wimps who like to avoid battle! And hey, kiddies, those of you who didn't avoid OTTO'S PARTS, please raise you hand. Wow. Does FRATSFA really have that many liars? Okay, so I may not be funny, but catch ASSASSIN NATION's act in the arena. Those acrobats seem to be fairly deft at running from OTTO'S PARTS. And who is this OLD GRIM you ask, with 23 points and a 1-1-1 record. Ooh, the tales I could tell! Getting lots of flowers from sympathetic fans was YOUNG GRIM, who was successfully challenged by SER STURM who had a mere 20 points more than YOUNG GRIM. Definition of petty: SER STURM subdued YOUNG GRIM, a mismatch of 20 points. In a touching display by a 'touched' warrior, BLOODEAGLE went after THE DEACON, who was higher by 22 points. Well, when the dust settled, BLOODEAGLE subdued THE DEACON. SORROW of DARK RAIDERS had better have a good reason for challenging down 10 points in a challenge which he won. I thought SORROW showed great skill and promise when he beat AUBIN L'AUROUGE. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal! Being a spy is great--other people die and you spend the rest of the day drinking to their memory. Better tanked than dead! In the 'Oops, What Have I Done?' category, OLD GRIM was mashed by SHOCKER, who let OLD GRIM know that killing members of LETHAL WEAPONS is a no-no. Congrats to GUNGNIRSDOTTIR for revenging the death of hers teammate (but more importantly, feeding SER STEEL a bit of dirt). Remember: alliances are great, but try and take your ally in the arena with you and see what happens. Well, there's the manager of the FRATSFA giving me the 'cut' sign (or is that 'They're going to strangle you in the alley?). Okay, so I may not be the world's best comedian, but then you guys aren't the world's best warriors. And remember, you can pick your friends and you can pick your--(loud boos), oh, you've heard that one already!-- The Unknown Spymaster DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME TORMENT 3523 9 3 1 94 ASSASSIN NATION (186) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME CAULIFLOWER EARS 3424 11 8 0 90 OTTO'S PARTS (150) SHOCKER 588 14 5 0 89 LETHAL WEAPONS (74) COLLAPSED LUNG 3380 12 9 2 88 OTTO'S PARTS (150) -TEALIN SALI 3496 18 15 0 87 MIDDLE WAY 8 (351) PANDEMIC 3319 7 11 0 81 DARK RAIDERS (78) VICIOUS 3508 7 2 1 80 ASSASSIN NATION (186) -RENDOR QUIL 3497 18 15 0 70 MIDDLE WAY 8 (351) -INSOLENT IRIS 3323 12 6 0 70 FLOWER GIRLS (189) WILD THING 382 10 13 0 67 LETHAL WEAPONS (74) CHALLENGER ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME MUTILATE 3375 12 10 1 66 ASSASSIN NATION (186) HORRID HOLLY 3334 10 7 0 65 FLOWER GIRLS (189) -LENA KORIL 3495 15 18 0 63 MIDDLE WAY 8 (351) GANGRENE 3344 7 3 1 63 DARK RAIDERS (78) MALICE 3343 6 4 0 59 DARK RAIDERS (78) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME NASTY NASTURTIUM 3307 7 5 0 56 FLOWER GIRLS (189) BRAIN TUMOUR 3502 7 0 0 55 OTTO'S PARTS (150) MAYHEM 3537 9 2 1 54 ASSASSIN NATION (186) SEVERITY 3538 7 4 1 41 ASSASSIN NATION (186) GNARLY GNOME 2918 9 6 0 38 SPRINGBORNE FAIR (305) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -SALINA REES 3546 7 8 0 29 MIDDLE WAY 8 (351) GARBLE GOBLIN 2932 7 6 0 27 SPRINGBORNE FAIR (305) SER STURM 3574 3 1 0 26 SILVER KNIGHTS (361) PUMPKINHEAD 1244 2 1 0 26 LETHAL WEAPONS (74) SER HAWKWING 3576 1 3 0 26 SILVER KNIGHTS (361) SORROW 3571 3 1 0 25 DARK RAIDERS (78) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME OLD GRIM 3593 1 1 1 23 BLEAK LEGION (364) IGOR MALMORT 3594 1 1 0 23 BLOOD AND GUTS! My team is The Fallen. kLk kLk BOOM!!!!!!! -- Azraelus Prime Hey, all you wonderful guys and gals and other, we have returned! We look forward to the Fratsfa Quest and even more to your many visits to The Flower Shoppe. My Flower Girls anxiously await your every wish. -- Lady Fern Insolent Iris is designated our impetuous SCOUT, and a newcomer to the Flower Girl stable, Rambling Rose will act as a CHAMPION. In no way does this indicate that they are better or worse at satisfying your desires, merely that they drew the short and long straws. All of my girls like things both long and short, if you know what I mean? (wink) -- Lady Fern Hi, Everybody. We want you. More importantly, you want us! We are really, really good alone, or in groups, or in just about any position you can imagine. We are all ambidextrous, enjoying the company of either sex. We like all kinds of weapons, and we are practiced with a whole boat load of devices. Come and see for yourselves. Try it and you'll like it and you will be back for more. Again, and again, and again.... -- The Flower Girls Insolent Iris Horrid Holly Nasty Nasturtium Volatile Verbena Rambling Rose Lady Fern Dark Knights -- Enter my team The Fallen into the contest. If I am not here already, I will be by next turn. -- Azraelus Prime, kLk Alliance, Illuminati Confederation of Alliances Toker & Contestants -- I and the Fair have arrived for your Quest for the Best tourneyment. (TA-DUM) True, Applejack was invited, but his plate's pretty full. True, I'm not any greater shakes as a tourneyer, than I am as a manager, but I do enjoy myself. True, I swore I'd only run one team at a time and I really like the atmosphere of Kolact...but I figure a slow arena can't be too much of an imposition on my lifestyle...casual and sun-baked that it is. The Springborne Fair. Boy does this take me back. Borne on the wings of Spring...no humans allowed, too, as I recall, which sounds as good a qualifier today as it did back then. Speaking of back then, introducing Gnarly Gnome, (Champion #2918) being the eldest, gets the priority designation. Grimalkin (Scout #3092) is a long-in-the-tooth cat person...and while Origami isn't your typical ork, Garble's definitely goblin material. We've a fifth yet unnamed (and unarrived) fighter for filling out the squad. Good fighting and good contest to you all. -- Still the Distiller, mgr. Springborne Fair Dark Knight Toker -- Change of plans, if my team the Fallen hasn't made it in by this turn look for my team Black/Red kLk to be here. I am having trouble getting a roll- up from RSI currently, figure it has to do with preparation for the face. Anyway whichever team makes it here first is the team I will be running in the Quest for the Best. You should have already received a diplo from me regarding this matter. -- Azraelus Prime Fratsfa -- We declare our Bid for the Best of the Best. Better late than never. Psychosis shall be our scout and Sorrow shall be our champion. -- mgr. Dark Raiders Goat -- Greetings Noble Host. I address you directly because I have a small problem with something you said in your personal last turn. Fairly new? How long ago was Turf War II? Four or five years (I can't remember). You old fraud, you ain't new. Not even fairly. You've been around almost as long as I have. I was in 31 for a lot of the VC vs. the Council of Lords show (I got there just before Polar Bear left). I remember Manic Fuhrer and that whole mess. I was CFH's student before Obnoxious, er I mean Abraxis. We will have no more of this "fairly new" nonsense out of you. You will not lull us into a false sense of security by posing as an inexperienced manager. Anyway, hail and well met. See you on the sands. -- The Expatriate Christine -- All things die. -- Old Grim Deacon -- I am not a choir boy! -- Young Grim Kykenstineburg (Bless You) -- I was properly named. -- Hopeless P.S. Congrats Heathen, in all my years in this game that's the first warrior I've had killed by that style. -- The Expatriate Bob Le Canadian -- I Hate Your Style!!! -- The Expatriate Assassin Nation is back to run in the Quest for the Best Tournament. Just curious, is this being run by Sir Richard Branson? We are declaring Vicious as our team Champion and Mayhem as our team Scout. What happens if a Champion or Scout graduates? Do you get to declare another? Well, best of luck to you all (except against mine). -- Ghab/Assassin Nation Crip -- Good to see you again. I see this tournament woke you up from your slumber as well. Good luck to you. -- Ghab/Assassin Nation All -- I did not realize that I had omitted the Scout Kill +5 points in the Variant part of the scoring formula. The scoring formula has been fixed in the contest info spot to include this omission. I apologize for this omission. -- Toker, your Quest for the Best co-host The Consortium -- Good to see you all could come and represent. Your presence will truly make this a quest for the Best! -- Toker, co-host Wulfhere Skullsplitter -- Loved your spot; will credit it to your stable score on T- 210. Good luck in your quest. -- Toker, co-host Staghorn -- Kinda cut it close on the paragraphs; however you will be awarded the 25 points for the bonus. Enjoyed your spot. -- Toker, co-host Heathen -- Your stable will also be granted the 25 points. Your spot was truly entertaining. Good luck, and blessed be your warriors' blades on the sands of the Quest. -- Toker, co-host Crip and Otto's Parts -- It's always a pleasure. Glad to see you could make it. Just don't beat up on my stable too much! (grin) You know I'm trying to win, don'tcha? -- Toker, co-host Expatriate -- Salve! To a man who has imposed self-exile on himself and cut all ties, good luck in the contest and future endeavors. Also, you have the right of it in 47 and I respect your stand. -- Dark Knight Toker, mgr. Silver Knights (361) Reverend Bob -- I win one challenge, and lose one. You lose your challenge. Time to look elsewhere. Good luck in the contest and may all your enemies' blood flow freely! -- Dark Knight Toker of the Desolate Empire Fangthane -- I will watch your Dark Raiders closely. If you're ever underestimated you will most definitely have a great chance of walking away with the Ultimate Victor prize. Glad to have a manager of your caliber here. Good luck and enjoy. -- Toker, co-host Lovely Lady Fern -- I hope the beauty of your warriors does not mesmerize my warriors into staring and drooling like fools. Good luck against all but ME!!! (SHEEPISH grin) -- Dark Knight Toker Wasby the Great, Dark Knight of the Desolate Empire -- As you know Goat is on the move. He probably won't be here until next turn. Good luck fooleo! Lasher will hopefully make it this turn; if not, then next one. -- D.K. Toker Dok Sik -- Welcome bro, give it your all and expect all the tricks in the book to be used against you. At least you'll be prepared for them regardless. -- D.K. Toker Gord the Rogue -- I heard you were fast. What happened? -- Black Viper 27 June 2005 ATTENTION ALL YOU ALLIANCE-TYPE PEOPLE: For the purposes of tourney newsletter alliance listings (when I am able to do them), you may only be listed in ONE alliance. In other words, you have to choose! If you are a part of Englebert's Alliance and Englebert's Alliance is "part" of Ruthrauf's Alliance, I will list you EITHER as part of Englebert's Alliance OR as part of Ruthrauf's Alliance, NOT both. The default would be the top-level alliance, Ruthrauf's, in this example. If you'd rather be listed separately, let me know and I will do so, but that will be the only listing you get. -- The Saint, keeper of ever- more-complicated lists 29 Jun 2005 The Company of Brothers (TCB) welcomes two new members to our alliance...Liam the Goth and Buddy Lee.
