Hello all! I trust that everyone had a great time with the mail-in tourney?
Well, hopefully, we will have generated some discussion from last turn's
question and with that goal in mind I'd like to pose another: what does it mean when
a warrior has the opportunity to attack but doesn't? Low Initiative or Attack
skills? Perhaps low Activity Level or Offensive Effort? Something else entirely?
I've always found this curious so maybe you guys could help me out.

Questers Contest!
We are a third of the way through the contest as of last turn. Still we see the
same teams leading. Heathen and his Odin's Chosen hold on to the lead for yet
another round. However, it seems that Crip and Lady Fern are trying to close the
gap. Blood & Guts! made a push forward and move up from seventh to fourth! Good
job! Dark Raiders landed in fifth, and Assassin Nation fell to seventh. While I, as
always, didn't make any headway and stayed in sixth. After that, nobody really moved
anywhere. I left out the teams that haven't fought in the contest. If and when they
come back, I will list them again. Good luck to all and may all your enemies' blood

Lady Fern, as far as I can tell (and I did go over it!), Rambling Rose has been
scored every time, even though the editor has omitted her in the contest spot. If I
am wrong and you find she hasn't been scored, email me and I will do my best to
correct it.
Staghorn, I apologize for not listing Skjott Hifna as your Champion. You did
declare him on T-209. I have rectified your score accordingly. I don't know how we
missed it, but we did!!! Those were the only questions I have seen. If there are

I plan on leaving a list of requirements, scoring formula, and prizes printed
throughout the contest for easy reference. (I try my best! LOL)
Requirements!
1) Only ONE team per manager entered in the contest. Only one active team in
Fratsfa during the contest, PERIOD!
2) Only one TP on your team at a time. (If it dies, then you may replace it.)
3) You must declare (1) warrior as your team scout. Points will not be scored until
a scout is declared!!!
4) You do not need (3) three warriors in the initiates class to compete. FE does
not play a factor for eligibility!!!!
5) If you bloodfeud, you must use a different warrior each time to score the FB
points. (If a warrior is used twice, he will only be awarded the points for the
win or point subtracted for the loss on the second bloodfeud.
6) You must declare your team in the p-ads to be entered.
7) A champion and scout cannot be the same warrior.
8) Champions are not required (manager's choice). Champions must be declared on
their first fight of the contest!
Now to the scoring formula:
Wins + Kills - Losses = Base score
Base score + Variant score = Total score
BASE SCORE POINTS:
Win = +1 pt
Kill = +1 pt
Loss = -1 pt
VARIANT SCORE POINTS:
Scout Win = +2 pts
Scout Loss = -2 pts
Scout death = -5 pts
Champion win = +3 pts
Champion loss = -3 pts
Stylemaster for turn = +1 pt
Most avoided team = +2 pts
Successful Bloodfeud = +2 pts
Failed Bloodfeud = -2 pts
Let's say (A) team goes 3 - 2 - 2 = 3 wins + 2 kills - 2 losses = + 3 base
score. Team (A)'s champion won (+3 pts) and is style master for the turn (1 pt).
His scout lost (-2 pts) for a total turn score of +5 pts.
Now, let's say team (B) goes 1 - 4 - 1 = 1 win + 1 kill - 4 losses = - 2 pts
base score. His scout won (+2 pts) and the scouts win was a successful bloodfeud (+2
pts). So, the total points for this turn would be +2 pts. (There was no champion on
this team.)
+25 bonus points will be given to managers that submit a brief history (5
paragraph minimum) including manager alias and stable name by the contest's third
turn. These points will be added to the team by T-210.

"Heathen's Cafe"
Tactics are tricky things. I don't have any real answers to your question, just
my observations and beliefs. I always try out the tactics that are suited to a
warrior's style, and if it works I keep using it. I've discovered that tactics work
better for warriors who have the skill base to handle the penalty. We know that
every style has suited tactics, but like everything in this game, it's much more
complex than that. I think it's like weapon suitability, well-suited, marginally
suited, and unorthodox. Each style might even have a classic tactic and each warrior
a favored tactic.
Case in point, I had a Slasher who went stupid whenever I used the slash tactic,
but went ballistic when I used Decise. You just have to play with it until you find
what works. I've done a lot of experimenting and I've learned to never neglect a
tactic just because it's not suited to a warrior's style. A decisive lunger is a
frightening thing. Also, if your warrior has a weakness, a tactic can help make up
for it. Always use a tactic when on the defensive, especially if your warrior has a
wit statement for the skill associated with the tactic.
One more thing to remember, tactics can be the great equalizer in style vs.
style matchups. Well, I hope that helped. I am better with specific styles so if
you have any style based questions fell free to ask (openly or by diplo) and I can
give you more specific answers (my answers anyway).

SPY REPORT
Oh, hi. Its just little 'ol Debby Tonte. Thought I'd check out FRATSFA to see
what's new. Uncool, ODD ODIUS ORCS. I mean 0-0-0 is bad. Will they will be allowed
to fight? I say use 'em for training practice! The guys at ICELANDERS like really
pulled together to get a 4-1-1 this turn, moving up by 5. What was the name of that
team who got 4-1-1 this turn for a total 22-14-3 you ask? (Sure) ODIN'S CHOSEN's
their name, and fighting's their game! MVP award for MAYHEM? ASSASSIN NATION's
proud of him after beating GARBLE GOBLIN and getting 17 points. Talk about yer major
upsets! SER ARTUR DAYNE's match with GANGRENE cost him a loss of 12 points! Was
that a tear I saw in INSOLENT IRIS' eye, as she took over Duelmastership? And wasn't
TORMENT fit to be tied! I hear the top team insists all their warriors get nine
hours sleep. They want photogenic fighters for PR photos.
So just why would someone becomes a warrior anyway? It can't be for these
really neat Spyreports can it? SILVER KNIGHTS was the most avoided team. Is a
21-23-0 record really that scary? I don't know what ODIN'S CHOSEN's been doing.
They certainly haven't been accepting many fights from SILVER KNIGHTS, that's fer
sher. Can BLEAK LEGION's BLACK VIPER be more popular than me? He was challenged the
most, but is that really the same? HORRID HOLLY must not be a good enough fighter to
get in fair fights. She challenged BRAIN TUMOUR. 14 is a big difference. (Well,
that's what they tell me.) I thought HORRID HOLLY showed great skill and promise when
she lost to BRAIN TUMOUR. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Challenges, revenges, Bloodfeuds. All FRATSFA ever talks about is fighting!
Me, I'm more laid back. I was SO depressed when I heard BLACK VIPER got killed. He
was just a kid, and didn't get a fair chance in FRATSFA, or anything! What a bummer!
GARBLE GOBLIN got wasted by MAYHEM! But with a 10-8-0, I guess SPRINGBORNE FAIR
aren't too bummed. That was so totally rude when MAYHEM wasted GARBLE GOBLIN. I
think all you warriors in FRATSFA should gang up on ASSASSIN NATION! PANDEMIC really
fought hard against SEVERITY. That'll teach ASSASSIN NATION not to go and kill any
of DARK RAIDERS' guys again, huh! Fight, fight, fight. Is that all you guys can do?
Remember, blood on a purple robe may stain. Soak it in cold water, and hand
wash. I gotta leave. FRATSFA is like such a dump, and you guys smell too much!

Toker -- My suggestion for the next tournament is to do away with the points for most
avoided team. This can be (and is being) abused. I believe the desired result of
this scoring measure could better be realized by penalizing the team listed as
avoiding the most avoided team. I would subtract two or three points for this one.
