The mood was festive in the Desolate Empire fortress. Leaving their private
guildhouses in the care of underlings, the Dark Knights sat laughing and joking.
They were celebrating the return of Dark Knight Goat from his mission. He sat
slumped at the Dark Table, trying to regain some energy after an all night visit to
The Flower Shoppe, courtesy of the other Dark Knights.
"I still don't understand why they like him more than me," complained Dok Sik.
"He is called Goat for a reason. I always get the cold shoulder!"
"Well, the girls are probably scared of catching every venereal disease
possible, which might slow down business," shot back Goat with a laugh.
"I know I enjoyed myself immensely. That's the first time I've experienced
women in a mortal body in more than a millenium," said Osiris.
The other Dark Knights paused. They were still uncomfortable with Osiris.
Together, they were trying to find a way to free Wasby from the grasp of the
resurrected god.
"What?" asked Osiris. "You would think none of you had ever been a thousand year
virgin!"
The other Dark Knights laughed, the ice broken. They resumed passing around the
pipe filled with what Goat had brought back from his travels.
"Well, we're all here now," said the smiling Heathen. "Now is the time for us
to set in motion our rise to power!"
"An excellent idea. We must continue to build the Empire into the greatest and
most feared of all superpowers!" Toker replied while banging the table.
With that, the Dark Knights called their aides to send for the Commanders of the
Desolate Forces, the chosen champions from each Dark Knight's guild. The Knights sat
long into the next day plotting the Empire's future, together making decisions that
would set the course for the ascension of the Desolate Empire.

Questers Info!
We had some excitement this last turn. Lady Fern and her Flower Girls managed
to pass Heathen up and take first place. I'm just wondering if it was all the
special favors your establishment was pouring on Fratsfa's Quest for the Best contest
leader. Did you wear them out? Whatever it was, all eyes are on you now!
Heathen beat Crip out of second place in his fall by win percentage. As you all
will most definitely see, both have 78 points. Le Pentarque and his Blood & Guts!
stable is catching up. He's down a mere six points from first place. Ghab made a
push this turn and gained 14 points by way of his 5-0. Impressive! Toker (me)
gained one place and moved up from seventh to sixth. Another 5-0-1 and still not
making much headway. Fangthayne is close on my heels yet again. Wasby had a good
turn to only end up gaining two points and to keep a grasp on ninth place.
I hope everyone comments on Ghab's recommendations for the next running of our
Quest. I liked a lot of his ideas. Let's see what everyone can come up with. I want
to attract the best of the best and all who aspire to be the best for the next

Notes from the arena champ.
As Duelmistress, and as the most desirable warrior in Fratsfa, I feel perfectly
capable of commenting on Ghab's Tournament recommendations, and on the current event
in Fratsfa. I also feel perfectly capable of licking Ghab. (wink, wink)
The current event is well managed. The scores and rules are always listed.
Check our Zal Con (DM13) if you want to see one which is not so well managed. A
salute (and maybe a freebie) to the coordinators!
The scoring is very, very good as is--except--Ghab is right--the awards for most
avoided need to go. Too easy to "flim flam". Too easy for a non competitor to
impact. Hasta La Vista. Have me instead! (grin)
The spotlight--keep it in. Keep the points high. Everyone is equal. If you are
serious, write. I disagree with Ghab on that. (Ghab and I probably disagree on the
favorite position, too!)
Extra points for a kill--nah. Why? Winning with a kill already gets two
points. Enough. You want a killing match, go to the Valentine's Day Massacre.
Adding more for any kill is passe'. Come on over to The Flower Shoppe and take it
out on me or one of my sisters.
Stylemaster points, sure. Keep 'em like now. Do it up in style. Bring me some
flowers from The Shoppe and we will really do IT in style. Capiche?
And adding that point for the Duelmaster makes sense. If one is good enough to
be on top (With me you can always be on top if you want.) even though the record is
weak, one deserves a point. Finish large!

It is I, Novgorodny Vir, Spymaster of Spymasters. Look on my work, ye mighty,
and despair! The boys at SILVER KNIGHTS left the arena dejected, after being kicked
out of the top spot by HOPLITES. Good show! He who laughs last didn't get the joke.
Speaking of laughing at jokes, observe SILVER KNIGHTS. Last week they got 2-3-0 to
drop by 5! What's a move up by 4 you ask? (alright, maybe you didn't ask) Cause
for celebration, according to HOPLITES. FLOWER GIRLS had cause to celebrate, after
CRAFTY CROCUS got 22 points by beating PULLED HAMSTRING. Win some, lose some.
Speaking of which, CRAFTY CROCUS was winsome, after beating PULLED HAMSTRING and
seeing it lose 20 points. The arena was more crowded than usual this time, as BRAIN
TUMOUR faced FRATSFA's Duelmaster. Those who hoped for a new Duelmaster were
disappointed by BRAIN TUMOUR, of OTTO'S PARTS, who despite a 14-3-0 couldn't overcome
FRATSFA's Number 1. Word has it one team in FRATSFA is taking speech lessons to try
to bore their opponent to death. I'll bet it works.
A Zenmaster once told me, 'Does not the spinning wheel turn? And do not the
little birds cry out?' Any ideas? Like the noble eagle soaring amongst the
mountaintops, so stand the warriors of SILVER KNIGHTS, alone and unchallenged. The
warriors of SILVER KNIGHTS found their efforts at combat frustrated as HOPLITES
apparently had more important things to do than fight. Everyone is famous for
fifteen minutes, and PANDEMIC is it right now. Most challenged warrior. Isn't DARK
RAIDERS proud! Place your bets! SER ILYN PAYNE is the long shot of the week: they
challenged BOB LE CANADIEN, up by 30. Soopreyes, soopreyes! SER ILYN PAYNE emerges
from the fray 8 points the richer. Good show, SER ILYN PAYNE! Take heed FRATSFA, of
the unprincipled action of ABSOLUTE GRACE. By challenging BARMY BOB, 16 points below
him, ABSOLUTE GRACE besmirches the noble art of dueling. Warriors of FRATSFA! Do
you wish your reputations tainted by the base challenge of ABSOLUTE GRACE? LORD JON
SNOW challenged SHY ANN! Who says BRONZE KNIGHTS are just a bunch of wimps! LORD
JON SNOW of BRONZE KNIGHTS kept his wits as he bested SHY ANN. My love of complete
Spyreports dictates that I note the mismatched fight, BLOODEAGLE and MERCILESS MUM.
Are ODIN'S CHOSEN unwilling to engage in a fair fight? I thought BLOODEAGLE showed
great skill and promise when he was defeated by MERCILESS MUM. All right, so I slept
through it! Big deal!
The moving sword slashes, and having slashed, moves on... Those who owe TORMENT
of ASSASSIN NATION money and had written him off, take note: he'S BACK FROM THE DARK
ARENA!!! AND he'S MAD!!! Justice was served as KYKENSTIENBURG fought OLD GRIM in
bloodfeud. Well done, ODIN'S CHOSEN! Ask not for whom the sword slashes; it slashes
for thee.

To all those lookin' for some easy pickins: I, Elfwine, manager of The Shallowship,
