TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Final Round T-222 Questers Contest INFO!
I think it was a foregone conclusion last turn that The Lovely Lady Fern had
first place sewn up and is now proclaimed as "Fratsfa's Ultimate Victor" and is
acknowledged as the BEST! We shall see if she can reclaim that title in the next
Quest that will start around T-228/230. Congratulations go out to Le Pentarque and
his Blood & Guts! stable for coming back this turn and reclaiming second place from
Crip and his Otto's Parts by one point. Dark Knight Heathen stayed in forth and had
a good turn despite sending his champion to his death in the Dark Arena. Ghab gained
this turn but still fell short of Heathen by 6 pts. Fangthayne stayed in sixth after
a gain of 5 pts. D.K. Toker (me) had a gain of 13 pts and missed taking over sixth
place by 5 pts. D.K. Wasby had a 5-0-0 turn and gained 10 pts to pass up D.K. Goat
for eighth place. Dark Knight Goat has chosen to abdicate his prizes as he feels he
didn't fight long enough to deserve them. So due to his relinquishing the Expatriate
and Bleak Legion takes ninth and Still the Distilled and his Springborne Fair round
out the top ten.
I want to thank everyone who participated in The Quest for the Best and making
my first hosting experience an enjoyable one. I will be sending the certs this turn
and a list to RSI for all Commission sponsored prizes. I will also be sending a
brief diplo to each manager that competed here in Fratsfa to ensure that you know
what you have coming in case of any typos. Now finally, here is the final scoring
for the contest.

Wow! This is a surprise. I never expected to be here. I am terrible at public
speaking, so I have no idea what to say now...I guess I will just stop talking then.

SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of FRATSFA! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp
Eyes, Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Fortune did not smile upon ISN'T IT
OBVIOUS this time out who this turn suffered a fall into 11th position in the wake of
a 2-2-0 round. Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the corner!
Witness how this week ASSASSIN NATION went 3-1-0 to move up 8 in the rankings. My
praise to BLOOD AND GUTS! for their 4-1-0 week this time out. Indeed, it was a
skillfully fought round deserving of notice! FAT LIP caught the eye of many in the
gladiatorial commission as it skillfully bested LORD DAVOS and was awarded 23 points
in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, SMOTHERING SALVIA put down
SER VON DARKMOOR, causing him to lose 20 points of recognition in the process. Who
here was not present for the title fight this week as INSOLENT IRIS boldly challenged
MALICE in order to strive for the Duelmasters honors? This time victory fell to the
grasp of the usurper. All hail INSOLENT IRIS, Duelmaster of FRATSFA! No
confirmation, but my sources claim that the top team has gained their position using
magical aids. Charmed weapons perhaps?
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city FRATSFA. My inside sources tell me that the team to beat in FRATSFA
these days is SITTEES. At least, most blades in town are looking to avoid them. If
you didn't look down dark alleys you'd have been hard pressed to find any of SILVER
KNIGHTS last week. Busy avoiding SITTEES? Mighty fighters cannot but expect
competition from those below. PAS DE QUARTIER take warning! You have more than a
few enemies in FRATSFA. Give MAYHEM credit for his courage. Did you note how he
challenged GUTHHILD MIDWALL despite the 42 point difference in their rankings? I
must admit to some joy. Before my very eyes the underdog in this contest, MAYHEM,
defeated GUTHHILD MIDWALL to claim victory and recognition. KYKENSTIENBURG must
really be harboring a grudge against the HOPLITES guild! Merciless, 23 challenged
down OPAL AVENGER points this week to duel with it. All the city knows the duel went
in favor of KYKENSTIENBURG. I shall not fail to spread the word in other cities of
this "mighty" victory. A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games this week, it
seems that LORD LONELY posted a challenge against the more highly recognized
BUSHSUCKSTOADIE. The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand LORD LONELY was defeated
by BUSHSUCKSTOADIE. Remember warriors, this is the discipline of steel.
Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more
than its fair share of red in recent times. Look no more for MERCILESS MUM in the
arena or on the streets of FRATSFA. Hers fate was sealed in the Dark Arena.
Inevitable for one at 6-8-0. This week marked the last days of AZRITH who at 5-6-0
was dispatched to the Dark Arena by the command of DARK DRAGONS' demanding
management. I must report the passing of AUBIN L'AUROUGE, veteran of many duels.
8-11-0 final record His was not illustrious--but death plays no favorites. The
warrior's path is harsh. For mediocrity there is but one reward--death. This past
week THEDEBOWTOVC, at 4-7-0, departed FRATSFA forever. Fate is a fickle mistress.
She showers the miserable with fortune but sets enemies against the victorious.
Remember this!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy
company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till next we

It was a very difficult decision to allow Merciless Mum to go her own way. She had
grown bored with her Flower Shoppe career, and the arena had no passion for her. A
mode 9(+1)-9-15-11-11-9-21 Aimer she was, and she could only learn 7 skills in 12

I am back in the arena and thinking back to those days in 1984 where I was a
novice and clueless manager.
Now, 22 years later it looks like I am an ancient and once again clueless
manager.
I am looking to recover some old warriors. Since none of them are Aimed Blows,
they are no threat to win anything. I just want to see how they turned out.

*Turf War IV Rules*
Everyone may participate; known alliances, new alliances, or temporary alliances
created to compete in the Turf War! However, to participate, each alliance must:
A. Announce the alliance and the Captain of the alliance in the North Fork (DM
47) newsletter.
Captains are responsible for:
a. verifying those who wish to participate under the banner of their alliance;
b. distribution of prizes should their alliance win the Turf War.
Managers must:
a. Submit one (1) RSI Roll-Up Gift Certificate to participate to:
Baphomet, mgr. Knights Templar (568), DM 47 -- North Fork, or
Rick Stringer

b. Announce their intent to compete with manager name, team name and alliance
they will be fighting under in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter.
Rules:
1. No scoring will begin until a Gift Cert is received. No exceptions.
2. Before a manager can compete, he/she must declare and be verified by the
Captain of the alliance he/she has claimed for;
3. Only one (1) team per player may compete. NO multiple aliases please.
Violations will result in disqualification.
4. The contest will begin on the turn following the January F2F and run for 12
turns.
5. The turn a declaration and verification will begin the scoring process.
6. No declarations or verifications will be accepted after Turn 10 of the Turf
War 5.
7. For the purpose of scoring, I reserve the right to make all final decisions.

Champions:
a. Champions may be declared, but are not mandatory. If declared, the Champion
must be in the Adepts or lower brackets on the turn they are declared
without having gone above the Adepts bracket at any time...including
transferred teams. (I'll be watching for this occurrence!)
Bloodfeuds:
a. Bloodfeuds count for all four (4) turns. However, the same warrior may not
be used all four turns. 4 turns means 4 separate warriors. A penalty of
-10 will be given to the team who violates this.
Special Conditions:
a. I reserve the right for all final decisions.
b. If I make a mistake, I'll multiply the points by 2.
c. If you claim I did, and *YOU* are wrong, I'll subtract points at the rate of
x10.
d. Each alliance begins with zero (0) points.
e. Dark Arena may be used on the first turn of every warrior with no penalty
(this means a warrior with 0 FE).
f. TVs won after the contest begins gain a 25 point one time score once the
tourney reports are posted in the NL.
g. TCs won after the contest begins gain a 50 point one time score with the
same conditions as noted for TVs.
h. NO switching alliance once verified by an alliance that a team has declared
for.
i. Only 7 teams are permitted per alliance for the Turf War 5.
PRIZES:
Turf Wars are a "Winner Takes All" type contest. All prizes and 100% of the RU
Certs will be given to the Captain of the winning alliance and it is his/her
responsibility to give these to the alliance membership.
I have requested from RSI the following:
a. renaming of the orth Fork (DM 47) arena;
b. renaming of Dark Arena Monsters;
c. known favourite rhythms for one warrior on each team of the winning
alliance. This warrior would be in the Initiates or above brackets on the
last turn of the Turf War (they must have at least one arena fight to
receive this award).
