Baphomet stood in the cavern, jaw agape at what lay before him. The purring of
Free-Jay the cat filled the area, putting Baffy into a trance. He began to reflect
on the events that led him to be there.
Two days prior, he had been in the marketplace at Stormcrowe. He was there to
purchase an unguent for chafing caused by ill-fitting armor. A very large, stupid
looking man carrying a bastard sword approached him. The simpleton grabbed his
sleeve, tugging on it and uttering, "A Back Ass."
Baphomet, being rather perplexed, responded, "What?"
The Giant one began dragging him out of the market, repeating "A Back Ass, A
Back Ass!"
As the two got to the edge of town, the large man approached a riding lizard as
Baffy said, "I don't understand."
Throwing the wizard across the saddle the man mumbled, "Wazzy sweep A Back Ass!"
     Baphomet yelled, "Who are you?"
The giant one replied, "Me Groo, we go, come now!"
After two days of riding, with Groo saying nothing but "A Back Ass" repeatedly,
they arrived at a small cave entrance. The behemoth dismounted, dragging Baphomet
into the cave and mumbling "A Back Ass" the whole time.
Deep in the cave, they came upon the cavern that was filled with Free-Jay's
purring. In an alcove on the left side of the chamber lay the comatose form of
Abraxis, with Free-Jay purring contentedly on his crotch.
Baphomet stood speechless, staring at the sight before him. He couldn't help
but notice how resplendent Free-Jay looked. The poor cat usually looked so
disheveled and frowzy that Baffy almost didn't recognize him.
Baphomet began to ponder the situation. He knew that with his arcane ability,
he could easily awake the sleeping Druid, but dare he? Abraxis had so many enemies
and caused such trouble. What the hell, the Turf War was coming up and he sure could
use the Druid's help.
As he completed his chant, the pontificating Druid sat up muttering, "That vile
Dastard Wasby, how dare he?"
     Groo echoed, "Wazzy."
The narcissistic Druid began a long droning diatribe, about the young upstart.
Somehow from his tirade, Baphomet gleaned a small bit of truth. He realized that
Wasby the Great was responsible for the Druid's condition and that there would be
hell to pay.

Blood violently splashed the ceiling above him...luckily not his own. Not yet.
Not much was left of his opponent. The upward sword sweep had ripped the assailant
from pelvis to collar bone, so quickly that the assassin didn't even have time to cry
out in pain. But the swordsman had no time to evaluate his grisly kill, as a second
hooded attacker burst out of the shadows to his right, an ugly battle axe raised two-
handed back beyond his head.
The gladiator from Hoplites known as Armed Response had no time to dodge this
coming blow, and he knew it. Instead he gritted his teeth, tightened his grip, and
swung his longsword to his vulnerable side as he simultaneously pushed himself
backwards with the balls of his feet. This is going to hurt, he thought to himself
as the longsword clanged fiercely against the side of the axe. He was right, as the
shock of such a maneuver jolted painfully up his arms. That was the least of his
problems as his longsword shattered into dozens of useless metal shards. Armed
Response swiftly kept falling backward onto the large oak table top, thrusting his
knees up, and his body rolled onto the far side of the table.
"Curses, where is he..." Response could more than hold his own against any
warrior of equal experience, but in face to face, man to man combat. Not this
cowardly attack by ambush.
Although the floor was already littered with the bodies of two would be killers,
Response knew his time was running out. The battle axe wielding fighter calmly and
slowly circled around the far side of the table, blocking the only doorless exit from
the room, as well as cutting off escape back down to the cellar hatch, from which
Response had emerged to almost be beheaded a few minutes ago.
He wasn't even fully healed from that last fight with Pas De Quartier. He was
already breathing hard, and his only weapon was broken.
The assassin paused long enough to loudly whisper down the corridor....
"Here..." The heavily clothed axeman seemed to study Response for a moment, though
Armed couldn't tell for sure as the man's, if he was a human at all, face was covered
too, except for the dark piercing eyes.
Well, Crypt Keeper would be mighty angry if Response didn't at least try to
fight for his second lease on life...with that thought Response kicked the lone
wooden chair, breaking it apart. Reaching down he pulled up a foot and a half long
chair leg, splintered into a sharp stake. The assassins were wearing armor under all
those robes, that much he was sure of. But if he could just get at those eyes....
Suddenly as other assassins entered the room the axe wielder reared his battle
axe back and threw it with immense power at Response. Hilt over blade, blade over
hilt, time seemed to crawl as the axe twirled its way towards his skull.
CLANG...out of nowhere a shield appeared in the axe's path, causing the weapon
to bounce harmlessly off.
"Took you long enough..." Response stated.
"You know it takes time for Keeper to send each one through the portal...
especially from as far away as North Fork." his team mate Soul Nova said. Nova's
grey dead eyes peered expressionless at him. "Oh, and here, I have an extra...."
Response caught the scimitar in mid air. "Well, mates," he grimly replied to
the now cautiously advancing assassins, "your luck just ran out."

                                      SPY REPORT

Well, what are you looking at, FLORAL VALLEY? Ain't you never seen Snide
Clemens before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. Now keep the taverns open late
tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for OTTO'S PARTS, whose 1-4-0 this turn
dropped them by 5 into 11th. Ha! CHAOS KNIGHTS turned their 2-3-0 turn into a 9th
place rank in the listings this turn. Any better than this, and you get put on hit
lists. Gee, I'm impressed, a 3-0-0 is nice, but don't get cocky, ISN'T IT OBVIOUS,
the Fates teach humility, and the Fates are proud. Of course, we're all terribly
impressed to see SER STEEL win a fight and gain 20 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, SER
LORAS TYRELL beat OPAL AVENGER and OPAL AVENGER lost 17 points. You're breakin' my
heart. INSOLENT IRIS challenged PANDEMIC for FLORAL VALLEY's Title this turn, and
guess what happened? And if variety is the spice of life, FLORAL VALLEY may be
getting bland, as INSOLENT IRIS stays top dog in the city. I'm not in a very good
mood today, but why am I telling you this? You want to know what's new, don't you,
FLORAL VALLEY?
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. What's the big D? ODIN'S CHOSEN was the most avoided
team? Bunch of lily livered... grumble... mumble... curse... And who led the way in
this mass act of cowardice? Let's see, well, whatcha know? It was HOPLITES. Ha ha
ha ha! Ooh, I'm frightfully impressed, MALICE was this turn's most challenged
warrior. Watch that ego swell, sports fans. Now here's guts and stupidity all
rolled into one, BUSHSUCKSTOADIE challenged up 27 to take on KYKENSTIENBURG of ODIN'S
CHOSEN. My sides still hurt from laughing about KYKENSTIENBURG losing and giving
BUSHSUCKSTOADIE 28 points of recognition. Ha ha ha ha!! I guess I can give a little
credit to SER VON DARKMOOR of SILVER KNIGHTS for challenging up by 22 to FAT LIP.
SER VON DARKMOOR won to get 48 points of recognition. And we have PAS DE QUARTIER in
a challenge, going down 10 points for the fight. Guess what? I thought PAS DE
QUARTIER showed great skill and promise when he was beat by BRAIN TUMOUR. All right,
so I slept through it! Big deal!
Death and Taxes. The less death I see, the more it taxes my patience. Let's
see if anyone's dead or dying. Let's see, 8-3-0. Pretty good record for a living
warrior. A sad one though, for a dead one. Such is the case for SLIPPED DISK of
OTTO'S PARTS. Tsk. Not that I'll be buying the drinks, but I'll be glad to see
TONNELLE and BLOOD AND GUTS! at The Victory Tavern tonight celebrating their
bloodfeud victory over SER ILYN PAYNE. Honor is like a chainmail shirt, it only
shines through use. Certain nameless cowards will doubtless rebuke me on this one.
I was about to buy a new quill pen the other day, but some fighter took it for
an epee. Forgive me for writing with a dagger. Well, I've had enough of this
drivel, and I'm sure you have too. Off like a dirty shirt of padded leather. I see
the crowds are getting restless, I must leave now-- Snide Clemens

Thanks to the many of you for the "congrats" to my girls on their victory. They will
now work extra hard to please. (wink) -- Lady Fern
P.S. See y'all Feb 26 in Quest 2!

Maximillian -- Same faves? Well, maybe, but I surely do like those big weapons.
(wink) Come on over to The Flower Shoppe and we will compare those faves.... -- Lady
Fern

Cryptkeeper of the new Hoplites -- Welcome. -- Lady Fern and The Flower Girls

Toker -- Your first hosting experience was a wonderful experience because you were a
wonderful host. Hugs and kisses.... -- Lady Fern

Malice -- I love it when you get a little rough with me like that! Hammer away! Oh,
my.... -- Insolent Iris

Snort -- I sure do love teaching youngsters new tricks, and I sure know a lot of
them! Oh, yeah! -- Painful Peony

Ser Von Darkmoor -- Well, it was quick, but I sure hope you enjoyed it! You had that
satisfied look. -- Smothering Salvia

Tempest -- You were my first and I will always remember you. Wanna try again, Hon?
-- Anxious Azalea

By now, we should have a new temporary name in place of Fratsfa. Subtle, smooth, but
full of loving innuendoes.... Just like my Flower Girls. -- Lady Fern

Alas, they cut their way together through the whole contest...and now...as they were
going to celebrate their second place, the brittle one is lying lifeless on the sand!
-- Le Pentarque

The also stupid one had a 3 CN and not a very bright future, but I was happy to have
everyone still alive. Damn. And one of our kind host's kids is the killer. Ugly
surprise. Tonnelle will be the first to try to bury that Ser in the sand. -- Le
Pentarque again

It's funny to wonder who was second by a tiny margin, when the winner is 40 points
higher.

After the drowning in many bottles we owed you, it's time to say: Farewell, lovely
and formidable Lady Fern...next time....

Well, Severity, lol...but let me try again. -- Igor

Maximillian -- If you really want to hear the story of Hammer, I'll provide. But
I'll let you ask Kat first, since the Feline of False Ferociousness had a major part
in Hammer leaving the VC. I do not, nor did I, ever have any malice in my heart
towards Hammer. We just were on opposite sides of a battle. But you might want to
check the overly large VC closet before you ask for skeletons to be pulled out. Once
you get to the bottom of what happened, you'll understand why I wrote what I did
concerning being dropped by your mates. -- Wasby the Great

Dark Knights -- Diplos on the way to each Dark Knight. Just a bit behind right now.
Let's do our thing and rep the D.E.! -- Dark Knight Wasby

All -- Well, turn 222 looks like: DE -- 4 with 1 kill, VC -- 2. Overall it's D.E.
17-8, VC 6-9. BTW, every Dark Knight except Dok Sik is now here in 52 ready to
battle. -- D.K. Wasby the Great

Kykenstienburg -- An excellent, if bizarre, fight! I'm just happy to have fared so
well against an experienced and worthy opponent such as yourself! -- Opal Avenger

Pas De Quartier -- I think I'll Pas De Next Fight with you. You fight well and I'm
just not quite up to your level yet, but can't fault a warrior for trying. Hope you
didn't mind me using your name in my spotlight story this turn. No insults or
anything. -- Armed Response

Ser Aerys Oakheart -- You put up a great fight. I salute you. -- Luminous Angel

D.K. Toker -- In response to your personal ad in arena 47...I believe she is still
running a team in arena 8. For whatever reasons (and I don't know the exact reasons)
she decided to sell some of her teams and I thought it would be better to start off
with established fighters, so I purchased Hoplites in arenas 31 and 52, and Salem's
Lot in 47. I believe she also sold off some ADM fighters/teams but I have no idea to
whom. They didn't interest me as I'm just trying to learn the game here in Basic. --

20 October 2006
In accordance with those rules set forth by the Lady of the Realm, I hereby announce
the formation of a small group of managers calling themselves "The Outsiders". The
group consists of the following members:
     Doc LeGrande
     Apex
     Street Legal
     Carnage
     Ghoti
     Roadkill
     Valamond
This group has only one rule. Respect the play of the managers of this
alliance. We have no worries about not playing by the rules set forth by others. We
fight the way we like, and all those in this group appreciate what tools each manager
brings. We have managers from the Delarquan, Andorian and Free Blade regions. We
have managers that focus on the tournament arenas, and we have those that focus on
the regular city arenas. We have those in our ranks that fight with honor and
respect for all, and we have those that have a bloodlust that cannot be quenched.
Our goal is simple. To create a ensemble of managers that will show their
prowess in the land of Alastari, and to bring a new level of competition to all those
that share the sands with our warriors. Our warriors are many throughout the land.
We have no home arena. We have no pacts we abide by. Our fighters range from
Mordant to Talcama, from Lapur to Lyratilan, Aruak City to Valamantis, the Primus
arena to Talahya, and many more arenas throughout the land.
Whether we are sought out or ignored makes no difference to us. We are what we
are. We fight how we fight. And we do it however we wish. We have no rules. We
have no leader or ruler. Be prepared. We are.

20 October 2006
The Dark Knights of the Desolate Empire respond thus to the Avengers of the Light:
Where are you? EACH AND EVERY Dark Knight can be found in arenas 31 and 52. Your
pretty words mean less than nothing if you won't fight. EVERY Dark Knight is more
than willing to back up their talk. So...we give you three turns in either 31 or 52,
REPEAT 31 or 52 to show up or shut up. If you don't show we'll let all of Alastari
know the Avengers are indeed cowards! -- Dark Knights of the Desolate Empire

I received a Gift Certificate from someone. I'm assuming it's for entry into the
Turf War 5. Whoever sent this to me...please email me at rbaphomets@yahoo.com.
Thanks.
