                                    TEAM SPOTLIGHT

Hello all, we are the Lords of Dusk. I'm sure you are dying to hear about the
warrriors that make up this team, be patient. You'll learn all you need to know
about us, someof which you'll discover in this ad, but most you'll discover in the
area.
There are a few things that the Lords of Dusk are confident about. One, we WILL
make some enemies, but it makes the sport so much butter. Two, we will make good
allies...consider us family. Three, we have one goal...Victory! We know that can't
hapen everytime we leave the arena, but that's always the goal whenever we enter the
arena.
This is the first time this manager is bringing any warrior into the arena,
though it's his first time, this team will show itself worthy to be considered one of
the Greats that all will talk about.
There is one other thing you need to know about the Lords of Dusk... oh wait,
you'll find that out in the arena.
Now let's meet the warriors of the Lords of Dusk. We have Welflourn, he is
kinda brash, but all in all he is a fine warriros and great leader. There is also
Finlock, he kinda gets under your skin, oh wait... that's his sword. Ah yes,
Micsello is next. He is the quiet type and is nice to everyone he come across, but
in the arena, even his friends are conquests. Brylon is also in the ranks of this
warrior team. He is fierce with a sword, but that's not what makes him dangerous.
Then we have the lovely Janafin, watch out boys... and you too girls, Janafin is a
warrior trying to prove something. She is the only female warrior on this team. The
others are all her older brothers. She wants to show tem that she has what it takes
to be called a warrior champion among a family of warriors. She has one problem
though, her older brothers...her teammates, are very protective of her, think twice
before causing her any real harm.
Thus you have met the Lords of Dusk...get to know their names...you'll hear
whispers about them from many lips.

                         L.O.D.

Fratsfa:

Lenpro looked around at the misty vistas of the park, at the two weathered
benches, and then at Lady Fern. "Here?"
Fern sat on one of the benches and looked up at him. "Of course, here. Surely
you didn't expect the wife of Emperor Alonj to come to the Flower Shoppe? The rumors
that would start--! No, no, trust me, this is better."
Lenpro shrugged. She was probably right, but he didn't feel like admitting it
just then. He looked around at what he could see of the park. Lawns, flower beds,
trees and statuary set with equal care. No people on this chilly morning. No place
for eavesdroppers and spies to hide. Okay, it was as safe a place to meet as they
were likely to find. It was also early, and cold, and damp, and the bench was not
the most comfortable he'd ever sat on.
Movement caught his eye. A woman alone--no, not alone. There was an older
woman with her, and two men, but they kept back a little. Chaperon and guards. The
woman was Fratsfan to all appearance, tall, blonde, and regal-looking. Coming toward
them. As she neared, he saw that she had slanted eyes, not in the elven fashion that
some Fratsfans did, but after the Adantri style. And if he needed further
confirmation of her identity, she wore a sword as though she knew what to do with it.
She strode over to the benches, nodded once to Lady Fern, and faced Lenpro, saying
nothing but raising one eyebrow in question.
Lenpro blinked, wondering how to start the discussion. He hadn't expected it to
be this hard, and she wasn't being helpful here. He took a deep breath. "We need
Emperor Alonj to take over as head of the Andorian League," he said.
     "No."
"The king is dead, no heirs, and Alonj is best placed to step into the role."
"No! Alonj has no desire to govern more than he does now, and this is work
enough for any man. Find someone else."
"I truly believe there isn't anyone else who could do the job," Lady Fern said.
"Only Emperor Alonj has the legitimacy to avoid a civil war."
The Empress Kitiara sighed and sat on the other bench. "I know. We can see the
situation as well as you do, I suppose, and we've talked about this. And about
personal choices and public duties."
"Then you can see the need," Lenpro said. "Without a firm and accepted hand on
the reins, the Andorian League will fall apart."
Kitiara looked at him for a moment. "Is this bad?"
Lenpro stared, shocked at the question. This woman was from a highly placed
family in the Empire of Lirith Kai, and she could question the value of a unified
government? "Of course it's bad! Without the League--" He groped for words.
"War between Convincia and the Clanholds?" she suggested. "Raltuman piractical
raids on Ardiventi shipping?"
"War between the Delarquans and the Karnhorns, fought across Andorian lands,"
Lenpro countered. "It's the united strength of the Laague that keeps them from
encroaching."
"I could argue that," she said, "at least about the Delarquans. But I suppose
this isn't the time for it."
Lenpro bit back the argument he'd been about to start and nodded. Later for
that. "You said you'd discussed this with Emperor Alonj. What conclusions did you
come to? What are you--is he--prepared to do?"
"For now, probably about what you want him to do," she said, grimacing. "Take
over central authority in the Andorian lands for the duration of this emergency. And
yes, we know that 'this emergency' is actually a complicated situation with may
different problems running together. And immediately organize responsible people to
start considering ways to resolve the individual problems once things are
stabilized."
"If he remains king of the League, that will solve the--"
"No, it won't. A king over the Andorian League is just a bandage over too many
cracks in the structure. It needs to be FIXED," she said.
     "What cracks?"
"Divisions and distrust between humans, elves, and Aruaki, for a start. The
running sore of the Assassins' Guild. The drain of too many of the best young people
through the arenas into death or the Isle--"
"That one is beyond our fixing," Lady Fern said. "As we've discussed before:
once the Gladiatorial Commission enters a country, it does not leave. Let's focus on
things we CAN change."
"Andor," Lenpro said. "That's where we have to start."

                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Greetings Warriors!

I was sure that I had written a letter to my adoring masses for last cycle, but
apparently the golem HAL, to whom I dictated my words, had better things to do than
submit them for your reading pleasure. Hopefully it will not happen again this
cycle!

Since I am off to the Isle and to immortality, my manager always likes to reveal the
particulars of his warrior's, me in this case, careers.

I began and finished my dueling as 9-11-6-17-11-9-21. I got a little lucky with the
Endurance roll, and that has helped me tremendously through my career. The
Commission tells me that I like the LS, which I have never used due lacking the STR
and SIZE necessary. They say I like a LO offensive effort couple with a VL activity
level. I have used both rhythms in the past, just never together with one another.
Probably the most beneficial piece of information and a key to my successful career
has been the fact that Decisiveness skills are my favorites to learn. It was really
hard to tell since I have four skills tied with the exact number of learns.

Darque tells me that I am only the second AB he has taken to the Isle. This is odd
to me considering he has been managing for nearly 11 years now. After I shared my
disbelief, he also told me that he runs very few ABs in his active stables, mainly
because his requirements are a bit lofty for the style and his ABs have a tendency to
get themselves deceased. Ah well, I made it out, and that is all that really matters
to me.

I am NOT off into retirement. I will continue my fighting in the Home Guard arena
for awhile. Master Darque says that he wishes to further assess my fighting ability
before he decides if I should continue or resign myself to farming and training new
crops of warriors for Fratsfa's Darque Ages stable. I think I'd prefer the farming.

Your Duelmaster,

Leo

                                      SPY REPORT

Hail FRATSFA! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for your
deeds. Now keep the taverns open late tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for
OTTO'S PARTS, whose 0-0-0 this turn dropped them by 5 into 7th. FLOWER GIRLS stable
has parlayed this turn's 4-0-1 into a 3 space move up the rankings. This brings them
up to 3rd place. Good work, guys! On their very first turn, BLEAKER LEGION had a
4-1-0, and with this kind of luck or skill, should do well. Welcome to FRATSFA. And
let's see, WEAKNESS fought KRULL and gained 16 points and contributed to BLEAKER
LEGION's 4-1-0. APPLE has lost to HARSH HAWTHORN, falling 11 points, while helping
make ZERO a 3-2-0 turn. Due to his absence and inability to defend the throne, LEO
has lost the title of Duelmaster. And not without some honor, SIZZLING SUNFLOWER now
claims the title and throne of Duelmaster of FRATSFA. By the way, was that our
Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the table at The Victory Tavern?
He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose
for good reasons. My mama told me that one. I also notice that the DARQUE AGES
stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on FRATSFA, what are you afraid of?
And guess who avoided DARQUE AGES stable the most? Believe it or not, it was FLOWER
GIRLS. Anyone surprised?
We only live a short time in this world, so why not take a sharp blade, and
shave it close? Had I not seen it, it would be hard to believe. PAINFUL PEONY was
sent to the Dark Arena and lived to tell about it! Makes you think, no? We'd like
to remind certain teams not to rob the graves of their enemies. You know who you
are; and it's considered rude.
Thought for the day, a new sword shines bright, but the notched sword sings the
sweetest. Well, I'm burning daylight here in FRATSFA and I've a long road ahead of
me. Happy Trails. Until the sun next rises and my pen sets to paper-- Alarond the
Scribe

Jorja -- It is apparently a lost art. (Ads, I mean.) -- Lady Fern

Fine Fiend -- Being tortured by a tulip takes infinite imagination, doesn't it? But
it was fun. Oh, it was really fun. -- Torturing Tulip

Leo -- A salute to you, the Duelmaster. You are my better. But if you come and
visit me at The Flower Shoppe, I will show you something you have been missing.
(wink) -- Painful Peony

Congratulations to Leo, a deserving Duelmaster and Lord Protector. -- Lady Fern

Lilac Liver -- I'm impressed. You did That?! Let's meet again at The Flower Shop
and you can give it to me one more time. (giggle) -- Harsh Hawthorn

Khalhums Dwarf -- You beast! -- Outcast Orchid

Painful Peony was an interesting warrior, who helped lead The Flower Girls to winning
The Fratsfa Quest. From that, I learned her favorites, not that it did me much good.
(Maybe it did her some good as every gal likes her partner to know her faves.)
Painful Peony: 16(+1)-16(+1)-10-12(+1)-17(+2)-7-11 ambi Waste

     Lady Fern

Lady Fern -- I heard that you had redecorated, but this is ridiculous. Where did you
get all of these flowers? I must admit that getting pelted with flowers instead of
garbage after a poor showing is a pleasant change. -- The Expatriate

Mgr. of Fell Spartans -- Is that you, little brother? -- The Expatriate

All -- I'm back, hopefully here to stay this time. If anyone is in an arena with
Liam pleast tell him I said hello. Thanks. -- The Expatriate

All -- Greetings, warriors of Fratsfa! I, Torch, have come to announce that there is
a new Order in town. And we mean business. -- The Order

Mgr. Fell Spartans -- Is this who I think it is? -- Torah

Lady Fern -- I'm sure that between the two of us, we can create one beautiful new
Eden. -- Torak

Well! It would appear that the Middle Way gladiators thought they could get away
with putting the narrowest interpretation on my instructions to "get out there and
fight." They'll be back this time, or I'll show them what kind of temper a basher
has. -- Jorja

Sizzling Sunflower -- A sizzle is good. I liked it. -- Tealin Sali

Lady Fern -- Thanks. I seem to recall liking it here. -- Jorja

                                 *TURF WAR VI RULES*
                            Starting Nov 2008 (10 turns)

Anyone may participate; known alliances, new alliances, or temporary alliances created solely to compete in the Turf War! To participate, each alliance must:
        1. Announce the alliance and the Captain of the alliance in the North Fork
            (DM 47) newsletter.
        2. Announcements made on the D2 Forums will not be accepted.

Captains are responsible for:
        1. Verifying those who wish to participate under the banner of their
            alliance;
        2. Distribution of prizes should their alliance win the Turf War.
        3. Submit one (1) RSI Roll-Up Certificate to participate

Participating managers who are not Captains must:
        1. Submit one (1) RSI Roll-Up Certificate to participate
        2. Announce their intent to compete with manager name, team name, and
alliance they will represent in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter.
Announcement made on the D2 Forums will not be accepted.
               a. No scores will be tabulated until a Gift Certificate is received.
                   No EXCEPTIONS.
               b. Before a manager can compete, he/she must declare themselves in
the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter as stated above AND be verified
by the alliance Captain they will represent.
               c. Only one (1) team per player may compete. No multiple teams or
aliases will be allowed. Violations will result in immediate
disqualification from the Turf War (so be sure to take any
multiple teams OFF of Team Maintenance).
               d. Scoring will NOT be retroactive for teams that do not properly
declare or fail to send a Gift Certificate by Turn 1. In other
words, if your Gift Certificate is not received until Turn 3 of
the Turf War, and you have fought on Turns 1 and 2, your scoring
will not begin until Turn 3. All conditions must be met before
scoring will begin--declaration, verification, and Gift
                   Certificate received.
               e. No declarations or verifications will be accepted after Turn 5 of
                   the Turf War.
               f. For purposes of scoring, the moderators will score the Turf War
and settle any and all disputes as they arise. Their decisions
                   will be final.

Scoring will be as follows for Fights:
                Win Loss Kill Die
Challenge +2 -2 +5 -5
Match Up +1 -1 +1 -5
Bloodfeud +2 -5 +5 -10
Champion x2 x2 x2 x2
Dark Arena* +10 -5 xx xx
*After 2nd win, warrior scores no points for wins

Special Scoring Considerations for the Turf War are as follows:
Spy Report mention (team name only) +2
Style Master +2
Duelmaster +2

Champions:
     1. A Champion may be declared, but one is not mandatory.
     2. Only one Champion allowed per manager at any given time.
     3. Champions that graduate or are killed by another warrior in the arena, but
not the Dark Arena, may be replaced.
     4. Champions must be in the Adepts bracket or lower on the turn they are
declared, and may NOT have gone above Adepts level at any time; this
includes teams transferred into North Fork for the Turf War.

Bloodfeuds:
        1. Bloodfeuds will score points on all four (4) turns.
        2. There is no limit to which warrior may bloodfeud or how often.

Tournament Considerations:
        1. Tournament participation is ALLOWED and encouraged.
        2. Tournament Victors won during the course of the contest will gain a one
            (1) time bonus of 25 points. This bonus will apply EACH time a
            warrior(s) wins such status.
        3. Tournament Champions won during the course of the contest will gain a one
            (1) time bonus of 50 points. This bonus will apply EACH time a
            warrior(s) win such status.
        4. Points for TVs and TCs will be applied the Turn after RSI posts
tournament results in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter (i.e., if the
results post on North Fork turn 275, points will be credited on North
Fork turn 276 to the applicable teams).

Special Considerations:
        1. Each alliance begins the Turf War with zero (0) points.
        2. There will be NO alliance or team changes once the contest has begun. If
you begin the Turf War with Alliance A, you must end the Turf War with
Alliance A. If you begin the Turf War with Team A, you must end the Turf
            War with Team A.
        3. There will be a maximum of seven (7) teams allowed per alliance for the
            Turf War.
        4. The Dark Arena may be used on the first turn only, of every warrior,
            without penalty.

Prizes:
The Turf War is a "winner take all" contest. All prizes and 100% of the Gift
Certificates will be awarded to the Captain of the winning alliance. It is the
responsibility of the Captain to distribute Gift Certificates. Moderators will
submit a list of each manager on the winning alliance to RSI at the completion of the
contest for the non-Certificate prizes.

The following prizes have been secured from RSI:
        1.  Renaming of the North Fork (DM 47) arena;
        2. Renaming of Dark Arena Monsters (one for each manager in the winning
            alliance);
        3. Known Favorites for one warrior on each team of the winning alliance
(warrior must be ranked Initiate or above, must be alive, and must have
at least one arena fight to receive this award).
        4. +1 Skill bonus potion for each manager on the winning alliance. Bonus
potion must be applied to a living warrior from (DM 47)
        5. +1 Skill bonus potion (one) for each manager who fights in all 10 rounds
AND 45 fights of the Turf War. Bonus potion must be applied to a living
            warrior from (DM 47)
These awards will be listed by the Moderator for claiming from RSI (Lee) within 4
turns of the end of TW VI.

Moderators:
The Moderators for this event will be Oz and Master Darque. They will arbitrate all
dealings during the course of the contest. Their decisions will be final. All
questions, comments, and scoring disputes may be directed to Land of Oz or Darque
Forces via diplo in DM 47. Managers with internet access may send a private message
to [The Consortium] or [Darque] on the Duel2 Forums. Lastly, you may also email
