SPY REPORT
So why do I have this bag over my head? Because I am The Unknown Spymaster and
I'm going to give you a spy report!. Say good-bye to PYROMANIA, as they are pushed
from the coveted top team spot by the WAH CHING stable. Hey everybody, watch out for
DARGON, who flew up 14 points in the rankings after mashing MILO like a melon. Keep
your eye on this beast. Going for the gusto and coming up with aught but bloody
knuckles was PYROMANIA's TUSCAN FLAME, who was turned away from the Duelmastership by
ZOUM LA BOUSE. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but an onion a day keeps T.P.s
at bay.
Here is other news that is of note. And hey, kiddies, those of you who didn't
avoid DRAGONS GUARD II, please raise you hand. Wow. Does FRATSFA really have that
many liars? Okay, so I may not be funny, but catch PYROMANIA's act in the arena.
Those acrobats seem to be fairly deft at running from DRAGONS GUARD II. And who is
this RENDOR QUIL you ask, with 105 points and a 21-29-0 record. Ooh, the tales I
could tell! Challenging down 26 points was 451 DEGREES. Pretty soon he'll be using
two shields and selling 'T.P.: The only way to clean up' pins. I just want to
congratulate RENDOR QUIL on beating 451 DEGREES. He overcame his superior-ranked
opponent and gained 14 points. Congrats! In a touching display by a 'touched'
warrior, JASMIN went after LI KUI, who was higher by 18 points. Well, when the dust
settled, JASMIN was overcame by LI KUI. VELVET ROSE of JADE WARRIORS had better have
a good reason for challenging down 9 points in a challenge which she lost. I thought
VELVET ROSE showed great skill and promise when she was subdued by URSILA RILVAR.
All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Being a spy is great--other people die and you spend the rest of the day
drinking to their memory. Better tanked than dead! Here's some advice: warriors
with little wit and will may encounter problems on the trail to the Isle.
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of
you whom I have not offended yet. Well, there goes another Spy Report. Good luck in

"DARK ARENA" -- The Novel
For centuries, the Shagornan Elves have been forced to live underground.
Human invaders, the Delarquans, burned their forests, sparking a war of elven
annihilation. The elders told tales that when the Delarquans marched to war
against the elves, the land itself bled as they passed. Since the war, the
elves have dwindled with every passing year, while the humans multiply like
rodents across the land of Alastari.
Now, the Delarquans have disappeared. Some say they departed, others indicate
it.s a ruse, but there have been whispered rumors of another greater threat
looming in the region. Khyron of the Shagornan Elves has been tasked to
determine the cause, realizing that failure is probable and at the end of the
road death could be the only reward.
Khyron has known only the safety of the caves, but now he must journey to the
world above...the World with No Ceiling.
Throughout the years, many fine writers have played Duelmasters/Duel II and have
contributed greatly to the history and background of the world of Alastari. One very
intense period, during the early '90's, was during the Rocanis War, when authors from
both the Delarquan and Free Blades arenas collaborated on writing the history of the
invasion of the arena-city of Rocanis. Mark Manley (aka Grimwood) is a long-time
manager in Rocanis, and was one of the writers who contributed so much to this
history. Over the subsequent years, he has worked to bring his novelization to life
and make the story of the War and the preceding events which led to it available to
the greater public. Many Rocanis legends appear in the book: Itoz Trollbane,
Sandstorm, and others. The novel is a treat to read--even more so if you are familiar
with the game!
