                                      SPY REPORT

It's me, The Unknown Spymaster here with my bag to give you the news on last
week's fights. Say good-bye to BAD APPLES, as they are pushed from the coveted top
team spot by the REDHORSE stable. Hey everybody, watch out for MECHANISM, who flew
up 19 points in the rankings after mashing CANDY APPLE like a melon. Keep your eye
on this guy. And falling like a basher in the top ten was CANDY APPLE, who dropped
17 points after a disappointing (to say the least) bout with MECHANISM. Well,
everybody's pal BROKEN TOE moved his record to 20-30-1 by defeating DEADFALL in the
Duelmaster's Title Bout and gaining 10 recognition points. 4 out of 5 gladiators
surveyed protect the body, so try and avoid aiming at that location.
Here is other news that is of note. Here's a song for you: Who's afraid of the
big, bad REDHORSE? Big bad REDHORSE. Big bad REDHORSE. ROCANIS' afraid of the big
bad REDHORSE. Tra la la la la! For those of you who like math, try this one:
REDHORSE + Weapons That go Boom = BLACKENED PRIDE + Avoid City. Well just about
everybody wants a piece of HEDGEHOG, who was this week's most challenged warrior.
MINAS MORGUL of BLACKENED PRIDE had better have a good reason for challenging down 10
points in a challenge which he was slain. I thought MINAS MORGUL showed great skill
and promise when he was killed by NARROW FOAL. All right, so I slept through it!
Big deal!
Being a spy is great--other people die and you spend the rest of the day
drinking to their memory. Better tanked than dead! Ask not the elves for counsel,
for they will say both yes and no. Silly buggers, eh?
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of
you whom I have not offended yet. C'mon, Leadfoot, let's make some tracks. And
remember, you can pick your friends and you can pick your--(loud boos), oh, you've
heard that one already!-- The Unknown Spymaster

Broken Toe -- Frankly, I wouldn't have bothered to write a personal to you, on the
assumption--born out by too many newsletters in the past--that you won't write a
personal or a Dueltoodude's column. But someone is standing behind me poking me with
a sharp stick...or something and hissing in my ear. Very annoying, even more
annoying than you, which I would not have believed possible. I hope that next time
you go for a beer, you choke on a fern. May all your bars be fern bars. --
Jonathannie
P.S. And your toes are really ugly.

Christina Truelove -- You think you're on a downward spiral? Wait till the
Commission scribes get to you! Name too long, team name too long, don't fit any of
the forms.... (sigh) And your id number is wrong, too. Oh, it BEGINS well enough
3-2, downward, right. But it should go ON, 1-0. But does it? Noooo. Which leads
me to view your avowedly downward spiral as a TRICK. You've already bottomed out,
you wretch, and now you're headed UP. -- Deadfall
P.S. Hey, just because I'm a gladiator doesn't mean I can think deep, philosophical,
ontological thoughts here! Someone's got to do it.

Well, that was a bit of a surprise. I didn't know Dwarves studied Kung-Fu. Of
course, he wasn't really a MASTER of Kung-Fu, he lost the fight, after all, but
still, he DID make a worthy effort. -- Applemint
P.S. How did the Commission get him to come out without his axe and his helmet?

Damned arenamaster! I was well on my way to gutting the Priest of Mytori (they're
all a foul lot and should be eliminated in the most final and painful way possible),
when the arenamaster, wimp that he is and overly infected with notions of "fair play"
(is he Andorian?), stepped in and stopped me. And everybody KNOWS that making an
enemy of a priest of Mytori without killing him is just ASKING for trouble. (Or even
with killing him, as they tend to Come Back.) I think the arenamaster's got it IN
for me. -- Bitter Vetch

Mechanism -- (sunny smile) Amazing what a little caramel in the gears will do, isn't
it? Probably I shouldn't GLOAT, but I don't think I'm REALLY gloating. Just, you
know, acknowledging the effectiveness of my secret weapon. -- Candy Apple

17 July 2004
I am currently trying to put together a favorites chart for AD warriors. I
desperately need help with this. What I need are style, favorite rhythm (ex.:
hi/low), favorite weapons, and tactics. What would be great is if you could send me
a copy of the invite with the warrior's name, id#, and arena blacked out. This way,
I can verify that this is an actual warrior. Minis will work, too!

For those interested, I have both a challenge style vs. style and a match-up style
vs. style chart. There's about 250 fights calculated in these charts, and I'll be
happy to send a copy to anyone who asks. You can contact me (if you're a free world
player) at: Rick Stringer, Merit/East, SCI, P.O. Box 500, Georgetown, DE 19947-0500.
If you're in prison, just send a diplo to: Baphomet, Mgr. Knights Templar (568), DM
#47--North Fork. (I also have a lot of other charts and info for anyone who wants
it.) Thanks!

30 July 2004
The total number of fights calculated was reported as 250 fights. This is a
misprint. It should have read "over 2,500 fights." -- Baphomet

Our next Winter Face-to-Face will be held on Martin Luther King weekend, Friday
through Sunday, 14-16 January 2005, at the Embassy Suites in Tempe, Arizona (4400 S
Rural Rd--this is the same hotel as last year). Room rates are $139.00 per night,
1-4 occupancy, which includes breakfast. The rooms are blocked. The reservations
number is 480-897-7444; tell them you're with the "Reality Simulations Face to Face
Convention" block. Our room block will be released in mid-December, so please make
sure you reserve your room before then!
Room rates include a full cooked-to-order breakfast and a complimentary two-hour
manager's reception. There is a free shuttle to the airport, as well as free parking.
The hotel is located down the freeway in Tempe. All rooms have high speed internet
(for an extra charge). There is a fitness center, jacuzzi, and pool, and of course a
bar and Mexican restaurant inside the hotel. And there's Denny's right across the
street. Look for transportation info in the tournament information sheet.
The tournament information sheet/strategy sheet should be out sometime in late
November/early December.
If you haven't been to a Face-to-Face before, you're overdue. If you have,
you'll be back. Don't miss this one, it'll be a blast! See you there!
