                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Hey there,

Another matchup against Deadfall. And next turn it'll be him again, or else
Bitter Vetch. Well, I guess I can handle either of them.
Huckle Cat, do you have another team member on his way here? Because we need
all the gladiators we can get. I notice that three of your young warriors have kills
on their records already. These were stand-ins? Because I don't see any bloodfeud
notations in the kill column.
Yo! Commission flunkies! Induct me! I'll suck in Free Blades but at least
I'll have a bigger variety of opponents. And who knows, maybe another star like
Royland will come along in my place. Who would've thought Mila would produce a son
with some real skill. And he's educated, too. That's because he was raised in
Morya.
Hoo boy, trying to think if I have anything else to say that's worth putting on
paper. Nope, I guess not. Bye now.

                                                Javelino

                                      SPY REPORT

Good day, in ROCANIS a quiet thief gets rich, but a quiet spymaster gets poor.
So bring me ale and harken to my tidbits of news. And let's see, KID QUICK fought
LARGE DOG and gained 12 points and contributed to PUNCH-OUT!'s 5-0-0. LARGE DOG has
lost to KID QUICK, falling 10 points, while helping make BAD APPLES a 1-4-0 turn.
Defending his title for another turn, JAVELINO kept BAD APPLES' warrior, BITTER
VETCH, from claiming the throne. Can someone confirm a rumor for me? I hear the top
team makes their losing fighters do dishes at The Grub & Rub Bar and Bistro until
they win. Maybe?
I tell you, a green quarterstaff lasts longer than a seasoned sapling. A basher
friend of mine assures me this is true. Well, sports fans, take notice that HEDGEHOG
from REDHORSE was ROCANIS' most challenged warrior this turn. CONTRABAND of YIELD
had better have a good reason for challenging down 9 points in a challenge which he
won. I thought CONTRABAND showed great skill and promise when he beat CANDY APPLE.
All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
We only live a short time in this world, so why not take a sharp blade, and
shave it close? Is it really true that ROCANIS has more dishwashers per capita that
fighters? Just thought I'd ask...
I like this place, ROCANIS, the taverns have old wine, and young serving girls.
Who could ask for more? Well, I'm burning daylight here in ROCANIS and I've a long
road ahead of me. Happy Trails. Until you see my quill in ROCANIS again, farewell--
Alarond the Scribe

Deadfall -- Oh darn. I TRIED to let you win, really I did. Well, not that hard. I
don't want to accidentally get killed on the eve of my...well not actually on the eve
of my induction but I hope it comes soon. -- Javelino

Bitter Vetch -- If this keeps up I'm going to have to try attacking. -- Hedgehog

Bald Bull -- Hey, I almost won! This tire-them-out tactic may have something in it.
-- Eats Grass

Glass Joe -- I'm not an Aruaki werecat. I'm a good Rocani tribesman. But even if I
were a werecat, that's better than being a golem. Can't you get yourself made more
human looking? -- Shanks Pony

Thank goodness I beat the Persistent Beggar! It would have been very embarrassing to
lose to him. -- Pronghorn

Javelino -- (very crossly indeed) Graduate, dammit! -- Deadfall

Hedgehog -- Rolling up into a bristly ball does not work when your opponent is armed
with a sword, you know. Maybe you should get a day job. -- Bitter Vetch

Wishlist -- How about if I wish that...no, I can't wish that you should die, that
would be grossly impolite. How about if I wish that you are struck by the Wand of
Instant Graduation and swept off to the Isle, thus miraculously opening a clear and
easy path for me to reach graduation by the more standard route? -- Candy Apple

Mr. Sandman -- Sorry to make the fight such a quick one, but I had this sudden urge
to take a nap, so I obviously had to get the fight out of the way as quickly as
possible. -- Large Dog, turning around three times and curling up to sleep

King Hippo -- Wow, you must've really annoyed someone at the Commission to get listed
as Harkeny. They only do that for people they're mad at, because the red hair that
goes with it makes the unlucky ones hot-tempered and always gets them into trouble.
Usually the really tall ones get to be Shews, which is a lot more fun, or so they
tell me. -- Rotten Core

Javelino -- Six cows and a bull? You won't find any to sell for several years yet,
you know. Better figure on living on grass yourself. -- Deadfall

Hedgehog -- Right! I don't see why men have to make it all so complicated. -- Candy
Apple

All you alliance-type people, I'm trying (again!) to get my alliance listing correct
and up to date. Either send me a diplo (address it to The Saint) or send your
updates to me directly at Sue at solberg-mathews.com. As you may guess, replace the
at with @ and you're good to go (I do hate spammy mail and this will end up on the
web).

I have information on the following alliances: ADIO, Allied Axis, Armada,
Brotherhood of Justice, Brotherhood of the Blade, Cadre, CDC, Chaos, Inc., Circle of
Order, Company of Brothers, Consortium, Council of Lords, Couple Good Guys, Crimson
Vengeance, DOA, DOOMcorps, Enigmafia, Eurosquad, Fascist Federation, FONZ,
Frothingslosh Syndicate, GAPPDA, Homeland Alliance, IT Alliance, Jingoists, kLk,
Knights of the Covenant, LBA, League Arcane, Legion6, Living Essences, Lords and
Ladies of Darkness, Manic Union, Midnight Foundation, Minions of Diana, Monarchs of
Montezuma, NCA, NIMROD, R.A.G.E., Seventh Sons, The Firm, The French Connection,
Vendett@ United, and the Vendetta Cartel.

If you are a member of one of these alliances, let me know. If you are a member of
some other alliance that isn't listed, let me know. If you were at any point in your
past a part of one of these alliance but are now independent, also let me know.
Going inactive doesn't mean you get removed from this list; people are assumed to
still be in the same alliance when they return. Even having everyone in an alliance
go inactive doesn't change anything. If an alliance is officially disbanding, that's
another thing you have to let me know....

The Saint, keeper of lists

P.S. If you already responded to my online plea (and I replied), you can ignore
this.

Hammer 500-Hammer Run for the Roll Ups
                                  Hosted by Hammer

Niytyole Island DM 33 has dwindled to the point where as of T-482 [duedate
November 3, 2004] there were only 2 active stables listed with 3 inactive stables in
a once thriving and lively regular arena.
During the past 40+ cycles Hammer has been hosting the Hammer Run for the Roll
Ups in DM 33.
Thus far only the Ripper and Slasher categories have produced winners to claim
the 5 New Team Roll Ups Prize for being the first declared Style Master of their
respective categories to graduate.
Every contending stable has gone inactive for one reason or another, including
CASINO HAMMERZ, over the past several months.
Now DM 33 faces the harsh reality that if RSI chooses to close any arenas due to
little or no interest, Niytyole Island could very well head the list of endangered
regular arenas!
In an effort to preserve his beloved island, Hammer is announcing the
continuation of the Hammer Run for the Roll Ups; combined with the Hammer 500 which
will conclude both contests on T-500 [duedate July 13, 2005] should DM 33 continue to
remain open in the coming months.
     Attention Hammer Runners!
The Hammer Run is for 0 FE Basic Arena Warriors ONLY. Participants MUST Be
Declared in the P-ads On or Before their First DM 33 Basic Arena Fight to Qualify as
a Hammer Runner! Winners of Each Category will receive 5 New Team Roll Up Gift
Certificates mailed from RSI courtesy of Hammer! [On the condition that they
Graduate on or before T-500; see amended rules below!]
The following Style Master categories remain open with a listing of how many
declared contestants are still entered and their W/L recognition record at the time
of their disappearance from the Hammer Run competition:
