SPY REPORT
Greetings, Warriors of ROCANIS. Allow this humble servant Novgorodny Vir to
give you a respite from the fights in the form of this Spyreport. REDHORSE? Who?
BAD APPLES is the top team these days, buddies! PIEFACE certainly had a baffled
expression on his face, after losing to DOOM FROM THE SOUTH and losing 10 points in
the process! KID QUICK successfully staved off a grab for the roses by PRONGHRON of
REDHORSE. Does ROCANIS have no one talented enough to dethrone him? So who was the
warrior seen charging into immovable walls and challenging dead trees? Someone's got
a basic problem...
A Zenmaster once told me, 'Does not the spinning wheel turn? And do not the
little birds cry out?' Any ideas? Everyone is famous for fifteen minutes, and
BITTER VETCH is it right now. Most challenged warrior. Isn't BAD APPLES proud! My
love of complete Spyreports dictates that I note the mismatched fight, GLASS JOE and
BITTER VETCH. Are PUNCH-OUT! unwilling to engage in a fair fight? I thought GLASS
JOE showed great skill and promise when he won victory over BITTER VETCH. All right,
so I slept through it! Big deal!
The moving sword slashes, and having slashed, moves on... Ask not a spymaster
for counsel, for he will pontificate long after you have fallen into an unconscious
stupor.
All good things must come to an end. As the seasons change, and the creatures
of the wild change also, so do I feel a yearning to leave this place. Like a mixed
metaphor, and an overtaxed simile, I now bid ROCANIS farewell-- Novgorodny Vir

PERSONAL ADS
Glass Joe -- Drat, I hate getting matched with you. The arena crew told me to avoid
glass splinters in the sands at all costs, and that means not hitting you. But it
doesn't stop YOU. I hate that. -- Bitter Vetch
P.S. That was by way of being a classic style match, wasn't it? In your favor.
What, the Rirorni Thug came back for another pie? What a fool! -- Pieface
Eats Grass -- You could do our lawn. -- Privet
Yul -- The reflection off your head was blinding. -- Large Dog
Probably just as well the Rirorni Archer wasn't allowed to bring his bow, since I, an
apple, was sitting on my brother's head at the beginning of the fight (my brother
tends to get above himself and shout and jump around, waving his arms and anything
else at hand, and this can be a distraction, so we try to stop it). -- Jonna Thane
Kid Quick -- You are a good teacher, mister! You hit me three times, I observed and
learned an attack skill from each one. I'd invite you to fight me again if not for
those two kills on your record. -- Shanks Pony
I fought a stand-in, big surprise. The Rocani Turncoat, but I don't think she really
is. I think she's just a gladiator wanna-be. -- Pronghorn
Privet -- I almost had you...if only you had run a little faster in the first two
minutes. Well fought. -- Eats Grass
Privet -- What a mean thing to say! My life is NOT worthless! Granted, I sometimes
rate it pretty low or I never would have become a gladiator, but as to that, it is no
less than you did! -- Yul
Large Dog -- Look on the bright side. At least we didn't have a Large Dog/Eats Grass
matchup this time. -- Yul
Isn't Redhorse supposed to have one more member? I don't think Hedgehog's
replacement ever reported to the arena. I'll hunt around and see if I can find her.
-- Mila, mgr. Redhorse
Lord Protector Kid Quick -- Congratulations. I, ah, hmm, I see you're a dwarf.
That's a relief, really. Dwarves don't like the plains, everyone knows that, so even
if we DID have lands to give you, they wouldn't be the kind of thing you'd want. So,
go with our blessing, and if you come back to visit, we'll buy you the first drink.

HAMMER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Be it known from the highest mountains to the darkest alleys of Alastari that
the veteran manager known far and wide as Hammer has now officially retired from
sponsoring contests as of September 15, 2005.
What a long time ago was a fun motivated activity to help promote our common
DM/D2 gaming interest in an effort to promote the growth and competitiveness of
selected arenas has become a far from fun experience.
In other words Hammer has had it!
The combination of real life situations interfering with the time needed to
effectively sponsor a contest, plus the attitudes expressed during such sponsorship
interference has led to Hammer closing his personal coin coffers and retiring from
his planned sponsorship of any future contests.
There are others in our close knit gaming community who are well able to step up
to the plate and continue sponsoring contests that make the basic game a fun
experience for all those who choose to compete and interact in such future endeavors.
Hammer thanks all managers both active and inactive who helped to make the
Hammer sponsored contests a historical and entertaining experience well worth the
time, effort and money spent over the past several years.
May the Cheers and the Jeers of future contests build upon the legacies of those
who have paved the way in years gone by to help make this game what it is today.
Hammer has no regrets for the part he has played in that history.
19 September 2005
I'd like to say hello to everyone I know that is still around after my being gone for
five years. Hope to see you all on the sands, and may your weapons strike true and
your shields protect you (except, of course, against MY warriors *grin*)!! -- Lord
Xiang, D2-101
