TEAM SPOTLIGHT
"It's hotter than all the nine hells in here! Get me out of this cursed
platemail!" Rao of the Skull Squadron stable exclaimed trying to reach the leather
buckles on the side of the cumbersome armor. Sweat ran and stung his eyes, while its
salty taste filled his mouth as he licked his lips. He looked to his awaiting
stablemates in the staging area off of the arena after exhausting himself against the
Duelmaster of the Men of Steel stable.
"You lasted six minutes against DA1. I'm impressed with your stamina," Anusha
winked and started to unbuckle the straps. "You know, you should have worn lighter
armor against that TP scum."
"Don't you think I know that? It was supposed to be Mud King," Rao said throwing
his mail gauntlet. "I was expecting he'd be back from the tournament by now."
"He still needs to answer for Cosh's death!" Bosh cursed, kicking at a pile of
sand.
"Not in a Blood Feud he won't," Anusha commented, flinching at touching the hot
mail heated by the noontime sun. "It's been four turns. The statute of limitations is
over."
"I swore by the horde that Cosh would've been avenged!" Rao roared.
"I didn't think you wanted to fight him," Anusha mumbled, undoing another of
Rao's straps.
"What?" Cosh asked, his eyebrows rose in confusion.
Of course he didn't want to fight Mud King. He's unbeaten, a superb warrior, has
his favorite weapon, and likely rhythm. Unfortunately, Rirorni integrity outweighed
insanity in this case, and the honor of the Blood Feud fell onto him. However,
nothing in the code said he couldn't defend his 'honor' by wearing heavy platemail.
He hoped it would be enough to safeguard him from Mud King and this stupidity.
Fortunately, the gods of the plains were watching over him and kept Mud King away from
him the past four turns, so his Rirorni honor was intact.
"Of course I wanted to fight Mud King!" Rao exclaimed, as his eyes shot daggers
towards Anusha. "You saw the turn sheets yourself Cosh; four honorable Blood Feud
challenges towards Mud King."
Cosh's eyes turned up in thought and then nodded. "Yes, indeed."
"News has arrived about Mud King," Targus said entering the staging area.
"So, did he return to fight and avoided Skull Squadron this turn?" Cosh asked.
"Nope, he didn't fight in Rocanis."
"What news then?"
"It seems he's the Tournament Champion," Targus said pointing to a newsletter.
Rao breathed out a sigh of anguish.
"Yes! That is welcomed news!" Cosh exclaimed.
"Why is that? He's even better than before he left," Anusha asked.
"Because now, Rao's defeat of Mud King on the arena sands will be even more
glorious!" Cosh bellowed.
"Why don't you go fight him then," Rao muttered.
"What was that?" Cosh asked with a wide grin of merriment plastered across his
face.
"Oh, nothing."
SPY REPORT
Oh, hi. Its just little 'ol Debby Tonte. Thought I'd check out ROCANIS to see
what's new. MVP award for SERGEANT 8? MEDAL OF HONOR A11's proud of him after
beating BOSH and getting 21 points. Talk about yer major upsets! BOSH's match with
SERGEANT 8 cost him a loss of 18 points! Was that a tear I saw in ANUSHA's eye, as
she took over Duelmastership? And wasn't DA1 fit to be tied! Is the Duelmaster
really being a real snob to his teammates? Don't ask me!
Look, you guys stick to fighting, all right? The warriors of MEN OF STEEL must
be getting lonely. They were the most avoided team. Do you guys know something that
I don't? Is there some deep dark secret why SKULL SQUADRON's been avoiding MEN OF
STEEL so much? Or is it just that they're too scared?
What does a fighter fight for? I mean, the crowds don't give a hoot if someone
gets killed. Not after four more fights. What if they had a fight and nobody showed
up? I'd be out of a job, that's what!!!
I really didn't, you know, study when I was a kid. Who would've guessed I'd be
a famous Spyreporter? I gotta leave. ROCANIS is like such a dump, and you guys
smell too much! I had a fun time, see you later-- Debby Tonte
