DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Hail gladiators of Rocanis!
It's good to be back! Skull Squadron hasn't sat on the throne since turn 651, six
months ago, so it's way past time for a Duelmaster's column. Therefore, without
further delay, I'm off to it.
So, this is what it's like as reigning Duelmaster: free drinks, free food, and best of
all a free fight. DA1's departure is most welcome, but equally unwelcomed was the
uncomfortably warm chair he left for me. However, I hope to do the same for the next
gladiator holding the title.
To my stablemate Rao, never send a man to do what a woman can accomplish in half the
time. As I told you last turn, you should have worn lighter armor against DA1: ring
mail!
To my opponent DA1, I was planning on scorning you for not writing a Duelmaster's
column, but considering you fight with a medium shield in your main hand, you Wit stat
might not be up to the task, so I'll let the offense to Rocanis pass.
To Rocanis, as long as I remain Duelmaster, and I really shouldn't be sitting on the
throne anyway, I will ensure this fine city receives a column every turn while I'm
here. Just be sure to tell the local Arenamaster to call the fight if things aren't
looking good for me on the sands.
As I sit here in Mylar's tavern writing this, my stablemates from Skull Squadron are
finally arriving. I'll bid you farewell as it's now time for the Duelmaster's feast
and everyone is invited. DA1, I had Mylar waive the extra cover charge for you, as
it's renowned you TP scums types can pack away the food and drink in your high
Con/Will girth.
Finally, to my fellow gladiators, I will leave you all with some words of
encouragement. Remember, each defeat in the arena is only a delay on the long road
(or short in my case) to becoming the Duelmaster of Rocanis.

SPY REPORT
You elder fighters surely remember me. The younger ones may call me Olaf
Modeen. I return to ROCANIS once again! Bein' on top is great while it lasts, MEN
OF STEEL. But how many friends do you have now? What's with PANCAKES? He actually
beat MEDAL OF HONOR A11's SERGEANT 8, and walked away with 23 more points from the
fight. Laughs were big at GET while they watched PANCAKES clobber SERGEANT 8. He
lost 18 points and got bruised from objects thrown from the stands. JOMMY was
reminded on the sands why ANUSHA is Duelmaster. I suppose you want to hear some
rumors and dirty gossip about your fellow fighters? Tough!
If at first you don't succeed, avoid. That'll get you in the Spyreports. How
well I know the feeling of being in the most avoided team! Don't fall out of
practive, MEN OF STEEL! Management must be dealin', as the boys at SKULL SQUADRON
ain't reelin'! MEN OF STEEL's mad! How well I know the feeling of being the most
challenged warrior, SERGEANT 8! Don't make idle boasts, they may come back to haunt
you.
There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters
to walk away, or not? Who will dare fight HOCHOPEPA, after he returned from the Dark
Arena? (For the record 6-7-1 is 62, and has he points) Many a warrior has met his
fate in a hungover stupor. You young rapscallions, take note!
Well, I'm pretty much through. You guys need to get back practicing. Are you
as tired of reading this as I am of writing it? Actually, I guess I'm writing it
before you read it. Oh, well. Remember--a good fighter needs both good skills and
