                                   HAMMERZ HERALD
                      Death Fest Round Two Edition/DM 59 T-173
                                      by Hammer

Deliver me from and lift me above those who work evil and save me from
bloodthirsty men. -- Psalms 59:2 Amplified Bible

HAMMER WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED TO FIND HIMSELF listed among the Top 10 Death Fest
Managers for the Opening Round; in spite of a momentary disappointment for the
initial turnout, Hammer was well satisfied that a Dying Delarq Arena had been Revived
and that DM 59 Promised to be an Entertaining Experience for those Managers who had
Chosen to Cross Blades in the Hammer Sponsored Contest!
Crip, Tripwire, Rascally Rabbit, One Armed Bandit, Nostradomus, Wildstorm, Kat,
Hammer, Cosmo Frothingslosh and Polarius were the Official Early Leaders [40-34-33-
32-31-29-28-26-23-21 points respectively]; however, Goat was credited with a +25
points for his Team Spotlight and would enter the Official Rankings as soon as his
VENDETTA INC stable appeared on the DM 59 sands.
Baphomet had failed to score among the Top 10 by virtue of his mere 8 paragraph
Team Spotlight [7 shy of the Required Minimum!]; whereas the remainder of the
contestants had FAILED to File a Team Spotlight for a Variety of Reasons!
Bobby Bigfoot had Dug Himself an Early Hole by sending two of his gladiators to
the Dark Arena [costing him -10 points for their Deaths!] and the rest of his VILE
REAVERS stable went Winless to score a Negative 15 points for the Death Fest Opening
Round!
This being a Delarq Arena and more over being a Delarq Death Fest Hosted by
Hammer; the Presence of Two Other Stables Managed by Crip [HANGOVERS and NOT QUITE]
in Addition to His Newly Transferred CHAPEL ROCK [currently giving Crip the Lead as
the Death Fest Dominator with 40 points!] was Completely within the Paramaters of the
Contest!
Hammer would NOT Require Crip to Deactivate His Two Partial Stables; after all,
Crip had Plans to Graduate These Warriors BEFORE the Death Fest Contest was Announced
in the DM 59 Slow Arena and Hammer Would Allow These Stables to Remain Among the
Other Death Fest Contenders and Pretenders to Either Kill or Be Killed as Obvious
Obstacles in the Quest for Death Fest Glory!
That would give Rascally Rabbit and Tripwire an Added Incentive with their
Challenges/Avoids over the course of the contest!

MEANWHILE GUS THE TROLL [BETTER KNOWN AS AXE] was busy addressing the
Psychological and Physical Training of the AXE ILLIS HAMMERZ stable in an effort to
claim one of the Top 10 Prize Categories for Hammer!
"If there's Two Things the Opening Round of the Death Fest Have Proven," growled
Axe as he addressed the AXE ILLIS HAMMERZ stable of trainees who had much to improve
upon if they were to compete for a Death Fest Prize, "is that If You Do NOT Win You
Can NOT Score a Kill...and If You Do NOT Lose then You Will NOT Die!"
The Silver Haired/Silver Bearded/Green Eyed Troll was fuming that GrimmDorr had
sent two more Black Haired/Blue Eyed Mirani Misfits as Replacements for AXE SHADOW
HAMMER [7-4-20-15-17-10-11 Lunger] and AXE CLEVER HAMMER [13-5-10-21-9-11-15 Striker]
who were Slain in the recent Summer Facer Rookies Tourney!
The Lunger Died in the 4th round vs an Aimer and the Striker was Slain in round
two by another Striker.
At least Assurnasirbanipal had been able to forward the replacements and their
strategies to the Gladiatorial Commission [in Hammer's behalf as Proxy!] in time for
the Opening Round of the Death Fest!
While Axe had become the recipient of two more sacks of Gold via ElGon as
incentive to train replacements AXE SEXIST HAMMER and AXE SEXIER HAMMER to compete in
the Death Fest and find a way to Score Precious Points!
At least AXE ILLIS HAMMERZ were fielding a full stable of warriors in quest of
the 25 Bonus Points Awarded to Each Stable Completing At Least 67 of a Possible 75
Fights during Death Fest!

THE VOICE OF ONE HAMMER CARRIED ON THE WIND as if issuing forth from SomeWhere
beyond the Realms of ElseWhere and ElseWhen saying:

"AXE ILLIS HAMMERZ Shall Walk In The Path Of The Mighty One Of Old...Following
The Instincts Of Your Inner Voice...Overcoming The Opposition And Defying Death When
Called...Time Tested And Battle Hardened...Setting The Standard Now For Those Who
Shall One Day Surely Take Your Place...You Are Legends In The Making...The Original
Hammer Death Fest Stable Has Seen The Fall Of AXE SHADOW HAMMER And AXE CLEVER HAMMER
In The Rookies Tourney...Now The Remaining AXE CARTEL HAMMER...AXE BURPER HAMMER...
And AXE BENDER HAMMER Must Embrace Their New Comrades In Arms...AXE SEXIST HAMMER AND
AXE SEXIER HAMMER...Names Also Worthy Of Death Fest History...Counted Upon To Do
Their Part As Well To Lay Claim To A Top Ten Death Fest Finish...Destined To Win...Or
Die Trying...With Your Hearts Focused On The Goal!"
Axe thoughtfully tugged at his Silver Beard as he Pondered the Importance of
Molding this group of Mirani Misfits into a Prize Winning AXE ILLIS HAMMERZ Stable;
in Spite of the Two Deaths and Overall Poor Performance by Hammer's Death Fest stable
in the Rookies Tourney!
"At Least We have a Female in the Stable Now," Axe grinned as he turned his
focus to the business end of things, "which Should Bring in a Greater Load of Gold
Coins from Clients Who Will Pay to Test Their Weapons Against a Warrior Woman in the
AXE ILLIS HAMMERZ Weaponz Shoppe Gladiator Training Arena!"

     MEANWHILE...DEADLY WAGERS...SECRET PACTS...BLOOD THIRSTY AGREEMENTS...
TREACHEROUS ACTS...ALL SET IN MOTION...FOR THE DEVIOUS DOINGS OF DEATH FEST...WERE
ABOUT TO UNFOLD...BY THE DOWN CHALLENGING....

Macauliffe stepped out of the shadows to cross the moonlit street to the small
white cottage crammed in between the Green Boar Inn and Horris's Blacksmith Shoppe.
Cook and Lewis were standing at the front door. They too had been summoned. They
moved to the other side and quickly motioned the others inside.
Once inside the house opened up into a great marble hall and the others
followed. As they walked, hallway after hallway opened up extending as far as the
eye could see. Macauliffe thought to herself that when she first encountered
Kellog's home this effect had left her awe struck but now she was used to it. After
a few minutes Rogers, who appeared to be leading the small party, took a left down
one to the corridors walking down a long hallway that twisted and turned in all
different directions. The hallway opened up into a large room, at one end sat a
billiard table and several other recreational games. At the other end stood Kellog
with Magellan at his side and several other Explorers in a semicircle around Kellog.
They stood between a large bench covered in black leather and what appeared to be box
with a window in it. The window was blacked out so that you could see nothing of
what was in the box.
"Aha, good they're here," Kellog stated more to himself than anyone else.
"Please join us over here. I have an important announcement for you all."
Kellog waited until Macauliffe and the others made it to where the rest of the
group stood. "I have lost a something..." Kellog paused for a moment as if thinking
of what to say. "...It's a wand, it's black in color and it's about this long." As
he said this he held out both of his hand about a foot apart. "If we don't find it
the fate of another world may hang in the balance. I have searched this room from
top to bottom and found no clues to is whereabouts. I need all of your to search the
rest of the house."
There was a collective groan from the crowd. Kellog was constantly misplacing
things around the castle. He referred to this place as a home which is what it
looked like from the outside but when you were searching it was as big as any castle.
When these mishaps took place he would get one or two of the explorers to help him
look for it. However, he had all of them here so it must have been a very important
item. The group reluctantly split up and began look for the wand.
Macauliffe was most put off by this development; she had hoped that she had been
summoned here tonight to celebrate her defense of the throne of Illis. It appeared
that that was not going to happen. She shuffled off haphazardly looking for an item
she had no intention of finding. Someone else would find it she told herself and she
wandered throughout the castle aimlessly. About an hour into the search and nobody
finding it she had wandered into the kitchen to find something to eat. Macauliffe
had just finished making herself a sandwich when felt a slight breeze across her
cheek. Odd she thought to herself glancing in the direction of the breeze. There
was an open window. Kellog was so uptight about secrecy she could image why he had
left a window open. She walked casually over to the window and peered out into the
night. When her eyes adjusted to the light she recognized the problem immediately.
There were two sets of footprints going away from the window. She went immediately
to contact the others.
Within minutes a large group of warriors stood outside in the moonlight hovering
above the footprints. Kellog was the last to arrive. The rest of the group had been
cringing at the thought of this moment. He had spent a lot of time and money to make
his house burglar proof and this was not going to make him happy.
To the group's surprise he simply looked down and said get the horses and walked
back inside the house. Magellan and Eriksen walked toward a small shed only big
enough hold a few gardening tools and disappeared inside. After a long while they
began leading out horses for the group and tethering them to a fence located near by.
It was within a half an hour and the group was ready to ride, Kellog appeared in
his traveling clothes and lifted himself atop Smoky, a charcoal gray gelding. The
group rode off following the footprints out of town. They followed the trail for the
rest of that night and all of the next day. When the sun began to slip below the
horizon they broke off the search to break camp. Kellog used his magic to
materialize several tents and a campfire then directed the trees to huddle together
to make a windbreak and a small shelter for the horses. They all sat around the
campfire and at jerky in silence; Macauliffe knew that Kellog was worried by his lack
of verbosity.
They awoke the next day before daybreak, ate more jerky and road off in the
direction of the thieves. And so it went for the next four days -- awake at
daybreak, ride until dusk, break camp and start all over again.
On the fourth day they awoke to pitter patter of rain on their tent, which had
the same effect on all of them. They all wanted to sleep in and every last one of
them knew that the misery index had just gone up ten fold. By the end of the day we
were all soaked to the bone, cold and still no closer to the thieves. Kellog
alleviated their misery by having dry tents and drying their clothes. The next
morning all of them followed the same ritual they had all week except Kellog. He sat
by the fire in the rain with his forest green cloak closed tightly around him. The
explorers waited patiently for Kellog to mount his horse.
"We're not getting any closer to them are we," Kellog stated to no one in
particular.
Eriksen was the first to speak. "We're not gaining any ground by standing
around here." Eriksen was the first Explorer to graduate to the Isle. However
Kellog had retired him and he was still bitter about and also eager for an adventure
such as this.
"We'll end up riding off the edge of the planet before we catch them at this
rate," Kellog returned coldly. He was cold and miserable from the ride and angry
that his property had been stolen. "We need to come up with a new plan."
"What have you got in mind?" Magellan chimed in. Magellan was Illis's greatest
Duelmaster and Kellog's personal bodyguard. He also happened to be Kellog's
confidant and best friend; they made an odd pair a dwarf and an elf.
"What are we dealing with?" Kellog asked.
     "Gnomes," Macauliffe stated flatly.
"And where have we been heading?" Kellog asked again.
     "North," Macauliffe stated again.
"And who do we know that hangs out with Gnomes and lives this far north?"
"Jordon!" they all exclaimed in unison.
"Then we know where we are heading," Kellog exclaimed, and he got up
extinguished the fire and jumped atop Smokey.
Macauliffe spoke up again. "But Jordon's place is another week away from here
and if I don't make it back I won't be able to defend the throne."
"Don't worry about it Macauliffe. If we start running short of time I can
teleport you back to Illis," Kellog said calmly.
Chills ran down Macauliffe's spine. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that," she
said under her breath. Kellog was a powerful magician but for some reason the art of
teleportation had eluded him.
Kellog climbed on top of smoky and road swiftly off toward the northeast the
rest of the Explorers riding close behind. They road all day and through the night
without stopping. The group continued this for the next three days though the help
of Kellog's magic restoring the horse and riders strength periodically throughout the
day. At the end of the fourth day Kellog slowed the riders and pulled off into a
clearing surrounded by tall spruce trees. "This seems like a good place to break
camp," was all he said. He hopped off his horse and materialized the camping gear
while Magellan rounded and tethered the horses.
The next morning the band set off at a ferrous pace until dusk where they set up
camp once again. They continued this for another three days where they found
themselves just days ride from Jordon's place. There Kellog split the group into two
and positioned them on either side of the trail. There they waited...and
waited...and waited. On the third day Macauliffe worked her way to where Kellog's
had positioned himself.
"Kellog?" she whispered. "I don't want to question your thinking here but what
if what we're waiting for doesn't show up."
"Then all is lost," Kellog stated sardonically.
"We are at least fourteen days' ride away for Illis and fourteen days away from
the next arena fights," Macauliffe stated quietly through gritted teeth. "If we
don't make it back in time I give up the throne by default," she said after Kellog
made no attempt at answering her. "That blow hard Hoffa with hair has claimed that
he's coming back and will take the throne if I'm not there to defend it."
That seemed to get Kellog's attention. "I promise that I will get you back to
Illis in time to defend your throne. Now go back to your post and wait. They will
be here shortly."
That night about half a mile away from where the Explorers had stationed
themselves a campfire lit up. So Macauliffe, Magellan, Rogers and Kellog made their
way toward the light. Upon arriving to the edge of the campsite they paused in the
shadows and listened.
Two furry gnomes sat cooking a rabbit over the fire. "Is it done yet Rik?" the
first one said poking the rabbit with a stick.
"No not yet Slik," said the other poking the rabbit with its own stick.
They sat there a short while saying nothing. "I think Jordon will be pleased
with our prize don't you?" said the first gnome, poking the rabbit with his stick.
"Yes Jordon will be pleased," said Rik poking with his own stick. "And no the
rabbit is not done yet."
"I think it is done," said the first under his breath.
"Do you know what it is?" asked the first gnome after a long pause.
"No! But we stole it from a great wizard it must be a grand prize. And Jordon
will be pleased when we give it to him," said Slik poking the rabbit with his stick
again.
All four of the Explorers stepped out of the shadows in unison. The appearance
was so sudden and so ominous that the two gnomes froze in their spot.
"Where is this grand prize you speak of?" Kellog stated calmly.
The gnomes managed only a brief scream before the others reached them and
incapacitated them. By sun up they had found the wand buried in the bottom of a
pack. Macauliffe found it pulling it out of the pack and instantly recognizing it.
It was indeed about half a foot long and black, but it had several bumpy protrusions
covering one side of the wand. Kellog had called them buttons. This is the wand
that Kellog used to operate the box with the moving pictures, she thought to herself.
"KELLOG!!!" she screamed. "What the hell is this? Tell me we did not come all
this way so that we could retrieve this...this...remote." Macauliffe stood there
shaking the wand furiously at Kellog. "Tell me we did not put my defense of the
throne on line for a gadget."
Kellog just stared back at her with that 'you obviously don't understand men
expression on his face'. "I will get you back in time," was all he said.
After they had gathered the rest of the Explorers Kellog instructed them to
accumulate in a circle around him. With a quick gesture and a curt phrase the group
was enveloped in a bright light, when the light cleared it was clear that they were
not in Illis. They had somehow appeared at the top of some mountain miles from
civilization. They were not going to make it back to Illis in time.

                             Notes from the arena champ.

So, Hoffa With Hair, you are going to pry the throne from my cold dead hand? If
you are that confident why do you avoid me by bloodfeuding? Thank your lucky stars
that we did not meet on the sands. For the rest of my loyal subjects I bid you
farewell; I shall be facing death in the dark arena as is the tradition of all the
Explorers on their final turn.

          Your humble Duelmistress Macauliffe

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly ILLIS games. Former top team IMPROVED ILLUSION was
unseated this week as SEA DOGS moved up from 7th ranking to take the top spot with a
5-0-1 record for the round. There were bitter words at NOT QUITE's guildhouse after
a 0-1-0 showing this week which dropped the stable into 17th. Dark Arena anyone?
Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the corner! Witness how this week
SEA DOGS went 5-0-1 to move up 6 in the rankings. My praise to ILL AVENGERS for
their 4-1-0 week this time out. Indeed, it was a skillfully fought round deserving
of notice! A new guild, VINCERE AUT MORI, entered ILLIS with a clash this turn,
showing off a 4-1-0 record. Indeed, a worthy addition to the city guilds. BLACK SUN
caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested PONTIUS
GLAW and was awarded 17 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable
duels, SVAD BONEGRIN put down EVANGELION, causing her to lose 6 points of recognition
in the process. Unwilling to wait upon the will of others, Duelmaster MACAULIFFE
Dark Arena Challenged WURM KIN last week in a match to decide the fate of the throne.
The crowds were amazed this turn, as WURM KIN killed the Duelmaster, MACAULIFFE,
leaving THE EXPLORERS in mourning. With bloody hand FEDIFENSOR has ascended to the
throne of champions. Is he that one which is spoken of in the ancient texts?
Informants "close" to the city champion have told me that he never fights without
pantyhose on beneath his armor. Watch out!
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city ILLIS. ILLIS, city of gladiators! Mighty among the names of thy guilds
is AXE ILLIS HAMMERZ, a guild shunned and avoided by many in the weekly duels.
Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent the better part
of last week avoiding AXE ILLIS HAMMERZ. Indeed it was CHAPEL ROCK. Loose talk at
the arena has reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters
are after ANCHOR. Watch your back! A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games
this week, it seems that COOK posted a challenge against the more highly recognized
DUFF. The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand COOK lost to DUFF. Remember
warriors, this is the discipline of steel.
Is not Death a warrior's foremost adviser? Warriors, may this counselor stand
ready at your right hand forever! My hearty congratulations CHERUBAEL, for thy
revenge upon KATALYSIS, slayer of thy fallen comrade. Next time she will know
better, eh? Fate is a fickle mistress. She showers the miserable with fortune but
sets enemies against the victorious. Remember this!
The girls are as pretty in ILLIS as ever I remembered them....and the fighters
as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy
company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till next we
meet remember: a fool flies into a rage quickly and often. The wise are angered by
the same thing only once. Zontani Sharp Eyes

These four ads were misfiled and should have appeared last turn. -- Ed.

Phantasm -- Just in case you'd like to pick up where we left off...my team is
Revenge. -- Baphomet

Hammer -- I won't be competing for the Iron Manager prizes, but I'll try to keep at
least one fighter active each turn. -- Baphomet, mgr. Revenge (277)

Crip -- Glad to see you've returned. Always a pleasure. -- Baphomet

Nick -- And my respects to you as well. -- Baphomet

All -- I thought that I actually took the time to write a DM article last time, but I
guess I was wrong. So, here are Hoffa With Hair's faves and such for those that like
to read such information (as I do). 17-5-16-21-9-9-7; Awesome Damage; Poor
Endurance; Very Frail. Goes to ADM with 80 learned and Adv Experts in Initiative,
Riposte, and Attack, with a Master in Decise. +2 Decise and mode everywhere else
that I can see. Faves were interesting: EP (never used), MO/MO (never used
simultaneously), and learns Attack (used a lot). She goes to 106 for retirement. --
Phantasm, mgr. of Improved Illusion
P.S. Very fun warrior to run in Basic, and I would design another just like her if I
had the chance.

Nick -- Hangovers? That is Crip's department. I have enough wild stuff (monkeys
with ballerina dresses and such) going on in my head without outside substances
influencing it (Ben Franklin in a speedo singing God Save the Queen). -- Phantasm

Duff -- As long as the intent to win was in there somewhere. I have a lost cause in
28 that I'm beginning to tank so he can graduate with tons of FE. I started out with
the intention of winning. He did win a few, but then lost his momentum and never got
it back. I change strats numbers every turn and also challenge. You add more
randomness to the process when you do such things, and I like the chaos. -- Phantasm

Hammer -- I'm not much of a gambler, so I took the safe route. Plus, I thought I
would lose what little luck I do have and draw the Arena Master. Just didn't think
she had the Attack skills/rating to pull off a DA win (unless I drew High Elf--but
that would never have happened). -- Phantasm

Tripwire -- Come on, if you're going to downchallenge 92 points, at least teach me
some skills! -- Haggai

Goat -- ABRAXIS has told me about you. Let's show this arena what Vendett@United is
all about. -- Nostradomus

Death Fest Fanatics -- Although I was expecting a GREATER number of Stables/Managers
to compete in the Death Fest; overall I am WELL PLEASED with the QUALITY of
COMPETITORS who have Chosen to Cross Blades in Quest of the Top Ten Prizes! This
issue's Team Spotlight by Hammer includes the Opening Round Scores for All Listed

Stables and Hopefully the Alphabetical Listing of Death Fest Stables/Managers is
Correctly Alphabetized! Looking Forward to some Lively P-ads and Livelier
Competition on the Death Fest Sands! -- Hammer/Your Death Fest Host

Tripwire -- Not only did your Team Spotlight print; it was the First Story Listed in
the DM 59 T-172 P-ads! Enjoyed the Read which was both Entertaining and Informative!

Bobby Bigfoot -- Death Fest Rules have been included last cycle and this cycle in
HAMMERZ HERALD Team Spotlights! You MUST Have Noticed by now that those Dark Arena
Deaths cost -5pts [as well as -1pt for Loss] per DA'd Gladiator! Puts Your VILE
REAVERS in Quite a Hole! Better Late than Never for Competing in the Death Fest!
Understand Your Dissatisfaction with Your Team; ESPECIALLY Since Two of Your Losses
were to My Stable! -- Hammer/Your [Grateful] Death Fest Host

Goat -- You Cut it Pretty Slim in your Team Spotlight! NOT the Number of Paragraphs!
Had You NOT had the Reference of the Flaming "GOAT" Head Burned into Your Chest in
Paragraph 14; then I would NOT have had a Clue as to Who the Manager Reference in the
Spotlight was to be Credited to! So Your Spot will Credit Your Stable with +25 Bonus
Points WHENEVER You Decide to Send Them Out on the Death Fest Sands! Yours was an
Informative Missive Giving ALL Competitors Who Read It an Insight into the Background
of a Possible Threat to Their Achieving Death Fest Glory! As Referred to Earlier; I
Gave Serious Thought to NOT GRANTING You +25 Bonus Points BECAUSE Your Manager Name
WAS NOT CLEARLY NOTED in Your Team Spotlight as per Death Fest Rules! However, I DID
NOT Want You to Cry and Leave the Contest Claiming that the Vendetta Cartel had
something to do with Your NOT Being Awarded the +25 Bonus Points! So Bring Your
Stable to the Death Fest and Cross Blades! -- Hammer; Captain/WordSmith/WeaponSmith
of the Vendetta Cartel Tarantula Tribe
P.S. ANY Death Fest Competitor Who is NOT a Member of the Vendetta Cartel and
thereby Wishes to Lodge a Complaint for Awarding the +25 Bonus Points for the Team
Spotlight written by Goat may Do So by Lodging Said Complaint in the P-ads Next
Cycle! As for now the Bonus Points are Awarded because I DO NOT Want My Judgement
Clouded by any type of Alliance Affiliation Aggravation that MAY or MAY NOT be
Perceived by My Ruling at the Present Time!

Nostradomus -- Congratulations on your 5th place Opening Round Performance!
According to Paragraph 4 of your Spotlight; this is your First Team! Well Done! I
see you are a bit of a Trouble Maker as well! Or Mischievous At Best! There are
Enough Vendetta Cartel stables represented in Death Fest to Test Your Mettle; not to
mention the OTHER Worthy Competitors Capable of Undermining Your Position and Denying
You the Gift Certs Prizes! -- Hammer

Phantasm -- Uh Oh! Just Reviewed the T-171 newsletter that I requested RSI to mail
to me overseas and I discovered that you Revenged the Blood Feud vs. Wimpira on T-
171; therefore, I CANNOT Award You 5 pts for a Second Revenged Blood Feud on T-172 as
listed in the Spotlight Standings! You are Still Placed 11th in the Death Fest
rankings, but ONLY with 4 pts instead of 9, My Friend! -- Hammer
P.S. UPON FURTHER REVIEW I AM AWARDING the 5 pts for the Blood Feud! You Can ONLY
Be Credited 5 pts per Revenged Blood Feud ONLY ONE TIME per Dead Warrior; So 5 Pts is
Being Awarded Because Although it is Your 2nd Revenged Blood Feud vs. Wimpira, You DO
RECEIVE the 5 Death Fest Points Because it is the First +5 pts Awarded for the
Revenged Blood Feud!

One Armed Bandit -- Glad to have your SEA DOGS aboard for the Death Fest contest!
Your solid 4th place Opening Round Performance makes your stable an Early Favorite to
Sail Away with some Gift Certs Prizes! Enjoyed Your Spotlight which was Well
Written/Informative and Entertaining! Looking Forward to Crossing Blades During the
Contest! -- Hammer

Crip -- As the dust settles from the Death Fest sands we find your CHAPEL ROCK stable
in a Fairly Secure Lead for the title of Death Fest Dominator! Enjoyed Your
Spotlight which Provided the Important Insight as to Why You Have 3 Stables Active in
DM 59 and Why HAMMER is Declaring this to be ACCEPTABLE as Written in his HAMMERZ
HERALD Team Spotlight this cycle! -- Hammer

Rascally Rabbit -- Enjoyed Your Spotlight with Your Clever Writing Style! VERY
INFORMATIVE and Insightful! We Welcome Your Stable to the Death Fest even though
JHANS was Your First Choice! VERY Humorous Exchange with Green Eyes! -- Hammer
P.S. Looks like Crip and Tripwire have Outfoxed You on the Opening Round! Where's
Your 5th Gladiator? You MAY Need Him/Her IF YOU PLAN to Improve Upon Your 3rd Place
Position; After all, Your Stable MUST Complete 67 Fights to Gain +25 Bonus Points!

Polarius -- It Will Be Good to Get to Know You During the Death Fest contest!
Perhaps I WILL One Day Send a Stable to Jhans When It Fits with My Managerial Plans!
You Did Well to Place 10th in the Opening Round Because of Your Dark Arena Death
Penalty! En<the rest of this is missing>

P.S. Speaking literally....

Flaming Moe -- I'll bet YOU don't take a hair of the dog that bit you! Because
burning hair of any kind is bad enough, but burning dog hair--! -- Slaker

Sir Prancelot -- Well done! But you should have learned more. And you WOULD have
learned more, if you hadn't let your attention wander to the inadequately clothed
young ladies (friends of Debby Tonte, I believe) in the stands. Distraction is the
bane of superior dueling, Sir! -- Duff

Mad Max -- I couldn't give that fight the proper attention, because I kept expecting
you to turn into some kind of cat and bite me. Sure, I know the Commission SAYS
you're Ratani, but so is every Aruaki, right up until he turns into a tiger or

P.S. Love the warrior names! LOL

Hammer -- I wrote the spotlight as was required. Unfortunately, the editors did
their job and the spot didn't come out the way I'd written it. -- Baphomet (not
counting on getting the points)

It must have been the typist this time, because I didn't do anything to change
     your spotlight. -- Ed.

Crip -- Nice job on the 5-0-1 turn. Man, stay away from my team, okay? -- Baphomet

Axe Bender Hammer -- After my training, I am ready to spill your guts! -- Urg
Gutspiller

Axe Sexier Hammer -- Me will kill you! Me not care how much armor you can wear or
how many shields you can hide behind. -- Goz Heartbreaker

Barry Mcokiner -- Congratulations on getting your name past the ever watchful eye of
the staff. I found it odd that they would edit my warrior Hearteater to
Heartbreaker, with the deathfest and all. Oh well, that's how it goes I guess. --
Bobby Bigfoot

Hammer -- Thank you for reviving my arena. I started my Duelmasters career here some
ten years ago--no wait, it might be fifteen years now. Wow, how time flies. Anyway,
I wish I could compete in the other Hammer contest however I have a liability that
prohibits me from doing so (EX Wife). See you on the sands. -- Kellog

Fanspasam -- I will take great pride in spilling your warrior's blood on the arena
sands. This is not a boast that I do not intend to follow through with. I am going
to hunt you down and expose you for the pathetic manager you really are. -- Kellog

Duff -- You forgot long winded, boorish and unscrupulous. You've convinced me, I'll
run. -- Glenn

All -- We are "Vendetta Inc." We fight with our colors displayed proudly. We are
also only one unit of "Vendetta United Alliance." I am "Gereon" Leader of the few
who dare. (We are all freed slaves of the mind.) -- Gereon

Toker -- This is a good place to bloody your sword. Your skill with a blade is only
equal to what you limit yourself to. "Thought plus conviction equals manifestation."

                            Invitation to Newbie Managers
                                 by Hammer

As a Captain of the Vendetta Cartel, Hammer has recently dissolved the Vendetta
Cartel Crimson Ascension Family. Lady Martilyo and Rook are NO LONGER members of the
Vendetta Cartel.
     The Vendetta Cartel is divided into "Families" under the leadership of Captains;
who have been appointed by the VC God Father known throughout the dueling land as
Master Darque.
Hammer is now the Captain of the Vendetta Cartel Tarantula Tribe and the veteran
manager extends an invitation for prospective membership as a Probate [ONLY 2 Probate
positions are available in the VC Tarantula Tribe at the present time!] to any Newbie
Manager who qualifies under the following conditions:
     1. Newbie Manager MUST have Online Access for Email communications! [Hammer is
presently living in Qatar and Lieutenants Maximillian and Firehawk are living in
Canada; so Email Communication is a MUST for consideration!]
     2. Newbie Manager MUST have the time and funds to create 2 new stables to be
placed in 2 separate Slow Arenas [the cost of running 1 stable in a Regular Arena!]
to actively participate on a monthly basis with the other 3 T-Tribe members of the
Vendetta Cartel!
     3. Newbie Manager MUST have the DESIRE to be an Active Member of the Vendetta
Cartel as a Tarantula Tribe trainee aka Probate; developing his/her managerial skills
under the mentorship of Hammer and the other VC members; thus proving themselves
worthy to become Vendetta Cartel Lieutenants in the Vendetta Cartel Tarantula Tribe!
The Vendetta Cartel Tarantula Tribe lives by the Feud; thereby prospective
Probates are forewarned that membership guarantees instant Friends and instant
Enemies!
Any prospective Probates who 1.) seek to improve their managerial
insights/abilities under the counsel of Hammer and other Vendetta Cartel members 2.)
desire to be active members of an Active Alliance that WILL NOT Dissolve in a Few
Months; building lasting friendships while enjoying Feuding with Common Enemies 3.)
who enjoy sending their gladiators to Tournaments and would strive to see their
manager name listed among the TV and TC winners in the Mailer Tourney Newsletters as
a member of the Vendetta Cartel MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:
Send an Email to HammerDM@fastermail.com to introduce yourself and provide
Hammer with a short Bio of your managerial successes/failures and favorite/least
favorite fighting styles; with a listing of your active stable/stables for Hammer to
verify in the online newsletters.
Hammer will choose the 2 prospective Probates for membership in the Vendetta
Cartel Tarantula Tribe on the basis of who he decides will be most suited [to
Hammer's purposes as the T-Tribe Captain!] from among those responding to this All
Arena Ad on a first response/first acceptance or rejection basis!
