Notes from the arena champ.
Thanks for the title shot, Soul Scourge. Much good it did me.
Right, I took the title on a loss. Only eight wins in my entire career. And
you know what?
Those oafs at the Commission have hauled me off to the Isle of the Eye, "on
suspicion of being a sandbagger." Me! I have never bagged sand in my whole entire
life! My listed fights are absolutely all I have, and I never do tourneys. I am not
suitable for the Isle of the Eye. I have no idea how to go on there.
Literally no idea, because they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me what my
favorites are, just threw me into the arena at Talahya and walked away, leaving me
bleeding on the sands.
I've been framed!

P.S. No, I have no idea if I'll be able to get away and come back here to be menaced
by death at every turn. We'll all just have to wait and see.
SPY REPORT
If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
ILLIS brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Later days, VINCERE AUT MORI, since
HANGOVERS took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. If this keeps up,
ROYAL FAMILY ZUL, you'll have to shine swords instead of use them. A drop of 4 in
the rankings? ISLANDERS turned their 1-2-0 turn into a 4th place rank in the
listings this turn. Any better than this, and you get put on hit lists. Gee, I'm
impressed, a 3-0-0 is nice, but don't get cocky, CHAPEL ROCK, the Fates teach
humility, and the Fates are proud. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to see I
MOTHER EARTH win a fight and gain 29 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, I MOTHER EARTH beat
ALUCIEA THE BOLD and ALUCIEA THE BOLD lost 24 points. You're breakin' my heart. And
it's out with the old, in with the new, as I MOTHER EARTH takes the Title and last
week's bar tab from the old Duelmaster. Heh, heh. I'm not in a very good mood
today, but why am I telling you this? You want to know what's new, don't you, ILLIS?
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. ILLIS, I am losing what little hope I had in you. THE
WILLBURYS 77 the most avoided team? What insult will suffice, I cannot say. And it
looks like HANGOVERS avoided them the most this turn. What a pack of would be
losers, if you ask me. Hmph. Ooh, I'm frightfully impressed, ALUCIEA THE BOLD was
this turn's most challenged warrior. Watch that ego swell, sports fans.
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. We're all going to die in the end, so why
worry if the fate catches up with you sooner that later?
There's got to be a better place in ILLIS to get a drink than The Swinging
Aardvark! Any suggestions? Just wait 'till next time I show up here, I won't be so

To all those lookin' for some easy pickins: I, Elfwine, manager of The Shallowship,
the most feared team in all of Jhelum, invite all who seek wide open spaces for pubs
and other such establishments of limited debauchery, to visit this deserted city and
help me clear up some of the dust. I'm just about ready to have my guys face off
against each other to get some new action. Guess I'd better join a tournament or
something...hmmmm, there's a thought.

The 2006 Mordanti Alliance Olympics are off to a grand start! With seventeen teams
declared, running under eight different flags (not to mention six additional non-
Olympic teams present), it is looking to be as tough as any previous Olympiad, if not
more! Olympians petitioned the Commission to make an allowance for late entries, and
the Commission agreed, and will allow new entrants to partake, as long as they are
active by Round 3 (T546, due May 29th). So if you wish to enter, please email your
intentions to amicitia@gwi.net with team name, manager name, and affiliation
(alliance name or independent), or show up in Mordant (DM-1) on, or before, May 29th
and place your declarations in the newsletter!
