Notes from the arena champ.
Step 2 of the program:
Come to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
I've already passed this one! The Rugs did not overly bless me as a fighter or a
Basher. My purpose will be fulfilled upon graduation. After that, I retire free
from the insantiy of being a basher, free from the rat race of the arena.
The only reason I'm still fighting today is simply because I am one of Assur's
min/max warriors. His goal, as he describes it, is to graduate a basher with a
minimum in each attribute that the commission uses to rank warriors and another set
of bashers with maximum values for these attributes. So, there is no insanity for
me, thinking anything other than the fact that I, as any other person, am unique.
An interesting fight, this turn. Neither Gisborne nor I looked as good as in our
first fight. With my teammate running interference, I hope to face Gisborne again
next turn. Though I've taken the first two bouts, I truly do think we are well
matched.

SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of ILLIS! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. BURNING RUBBER caught the eye of many in
the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested DOOMIE JUGGERNAUT and was awarded
20 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, CANCER put down
DILLIS RHIN, causing her to lose 12 points of recognition in the process. The city
has turned out in honor of GISBORNE, for with his arena victory he may now lay claim
to the highest position in the city! No confirmation, but my sources claim that the
top team has gained their position using magical aids. Charmed weapons perhaps?
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. I saw one fighter that warriors
avoided when this week's challenge seeking began. WHAT'S IN A NAME is feared. This
much I can say. Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent
the better part of last week avoiding WHAT'S IN A NAME. Indeed it was BASHAHOLICS
ANON. Mighty fighters cannot but expect competition from those below. DOG CATCHER
take warning! You have more than a few enemies in ILLIS. Give I'M POWERLESS credit
for its courage. Did you note how it challenged DOG CATCHER despite the 27 point
difference in their rankings? Truth to tell, I'M POWERLESS did not come out of the
fight a winner, but it managed to capture much attention, gaining 1 in recognition.
Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more
than its fair share of red in recent times. The warrior's path is harsh. For
mediocrity there is but one reward--death. This past week I'M POWERLESS, at 10-29-0,
departed ILLIS forever. Cruelly, DOG CATCHER of WHAT'S IN A NAME has slain the
lesser ranked I'M POWERLESS. Word already flies around town that BASHAHOLICS ANON
plans a bloodfeud! DOG CATCHER, may you forever slay thy enemies with impunity as
you did ALINAI. Are there none left in ISLANDERS who hold honor as a virtue? Some
say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger
in hand then a sword on the belt!
If it were not for my skills as a spy I would have been mugged three times
already in ILLIS. Nice atmosphere you have here! More than a sharp eye must I keep,
indeed a stout pair of legs must I keep as well! The endless paths of Alastari await
me! Till next we meet remember: a fool flies into a rage quickly and often. The
