Notes from the arena champ.
Back again, though not the way I'd expect. Looks like Cancer is the top
contender. Assur even hinted that just this once, he would not mind overmuch if my
QS were to hit a vital area and eliminate cancer. Viruses are bad. Cancer is one of
the worst.
But perhaps by fighting him I can overcome my recent learning block. No matter
what I do in practice or in the arena, I just can't seem to get past my past
tendencies. I know I've been lucky, but I rely on that luck to win. It is almost as
if I ignore my training and just rely on my inner instinct and predict the fight as
it starts to unfold.
It has mostly served me very well. But I've never faced a deadly virus before.
It is somewhat scary. And I don't have any of the traditional tools for fighting
such viruses. Cut it up, burn it, poison it, then drug it. And Assur sends me out
with a Quarterstaff.

SPY REPORT
Greetings, Warriors of ILLIS. Allow this humble servant Novgorodny Vir to give
you a respite from the fights in the form of this Spyreport. The boys at CHAPEL ROCK
left the arena dejected, after being kicked out of the top spot by BASHAHOLICS ANON.
Good show! CHAPEL ROCK after a sorry 0-0-0 might want to consider abandoning the
sands and taking up singing the 'Can't fight no more' blues! What's a move up by 3
you ask? (alright, maybe you didn't ask) Cause for celebration, according to
ISLANDERS. ISLANDERS had cause to celebrate, after BELITRIS got 11 points by beating
SCRAWNY GEORGE. A certain someone should cut down on the drinking and practice more,
after losing 15 points to LUCIUS VORENUS. (Discrete enough, COCO NUTTAL?) Those who
hoped for a new Duelmaster were disappointed by DUM GRUNT, of ILLIS, who despite a
0-0-0 couldn't overcome ILLIS' Number 1. Word has it one team in ILLIS is using
psychics to predict wins. They lead a charmed life!
So much to report, so little time! To quell some nasty rumors, the guys in
IMPROVED ILLUSION are not carrying any incurable diseases. No need to avoid 'em. As
a woman of good breeding scorns the "warriors" of BASHAHOLICS ANON, so did that sorry
team shy from IMPROVED ILLUSION
Is there life after death? Pragmatics (and warriors) know there is death after
life! Oh hard! that to strike a flame, the match itself must needs be wasting!
