Notes from the arena champ.
What do you know. Still more Chapel Rock at the top of the arena, and
Immaculate Collection maintains a slight edge in recognition points over me. I'm
going to try to do something about that by challenging top non-Chapel Rock warrior
Chagua Korbin for the throne. Both his style of fighting and his fighting style
should give me an advantage in the fight, but that's why we fight, because you never
know.

Much has changed in ILLIS since last I was here. Never fear, Olaf Modeen adapts
to many situations, as do all successful fighters. Welcome to ILLIS, ELDER GODS! We
need more teams who can get a 4-1-2 their first time out! What's with YAD-THADDAG?
He actually beat ILLIS' MINI-PUMPKIN, and walked away with 14 more points from the
fight. Major screwup at TALL TALES. JOHNNY APPLESEED lost 5 points to LONG ISLAND.
Some new strategies, perhaps? Maybe JOHNNY APPLESEED will provide more easy wins...
See how the Duelmaster challenged ISLANDERS' CHAGUA KORBIN? That sort of initiative
is how it got where it is now. Try as he might, CHAGUA KORBIN wasn't good enough at
persuading NAZARETH to step down from the Duelmaster's throne... I suppose you want
to hear some rumors and dirty gossip about your fellow fighters? Tough!
Speaking of cowardly avoiders and unfair challenges... The most avoided team
was HANGOVERS. In my day, no team with a 171-127-15 would scare me off! What's the
problem, BEATRICE? What do people see in CHAGUA KORBIN? His 18-26-1? ISLANDERS
ain't talkin', but he's got 102 points.
A fighter's lot is filled with strife, revenge, and killing. Some fighters
don't accept this. The best do. Here's some advice: study your opponent, master
many skills, fight dirty.
Who knows what the future holds for a warrior. More fights, there's no doubt.

There was a line outside the Gladiatorial Commission's registry office. There
often was, but surely not now? Alarond the Scribe, who had drawn office duty today,
frowned at them.
A stocky, fit, moderately handsome gladiator stepped up to the counter. "I want a
name-change," he said. "How can I do my best known as," he shuddered, "'Dangling
Eyeball'? My name is Joe, and I want to use it."
A small and very shapely woman stepped up beside him. "And I am really tired of
being known as 'DA Bait'." She smiled, causing Alarond to sway where he stood. "I'd
like to be known as... Aphrodite, I think."
The others crowded forward, each advancing a claim, the babble of voice rising to
a roar, the crowd beginning to look like a mob--and every member of it armed and
dangerous.
Alarond raised his hands to quiet them, without much success. He raised his
voice, too. "We'll do it! A Name-Change-O-Rama, as soon as we can get the paperwork
lined up! Two or three months, maybe--"
The gladiators howled in protest at the delay.
"No, listen! The files here are HUGE, it will take time to get everything
straight. You've got to be patient. It WILL happen!"
