"What do we do first?" Jorge Black Orc asked.
"First, we have to pay a visit to Tossed Salad. Doesn't anybody realize how
HARD it is to find a Happy Peasant who will fight in the arena?" Arenamaster Harkon
shook his head. "This should be Merven Dree's job. Looking after the standbys...."
He sighed.
"I could just...drop in on the Salad guy," Jorge said. He glanced at his claws
and buffed them lightly on his shirt. "Just to remind him not to do that again...."
"No, it has to be official. Me. Tossed Salad is a golem, and golems don't take
hints. They need it laid out in red." Harkon checked that his sword was not jammed
tightly into his sheath. If he needed it, he would need it quickly.
"I'll come along and hold your coat," Jorge said. "And then we can begin our
investigation into the disappearance of Merven Dree. Uh...how do we start that?"
Harkon shrugged. "We think what Nancy Drew would have done, and do it."
Jorge fell into step beside Harkon, then picked himself up and dusted off his
colorful shirt. "Right.... We do what Nancy would have done. Uh...do we have to
wear loafers? She was always wearing loafers. It was like her signature look. That
and a sweater from, uh, Bergenholm Goodbar. I noticed that, because she didn't loaf
even with the loafers on. Always doing stuff, that girl."
Harkon looked down at his boots. After a moment, he said, "No. No loafers. I
don't think we could find any to fit, even if we wanted them. But we'd better get a
magnifying glass. And a lot of little envelopes."
"Why? No, don't tell me, to put lots of little notes in." Jorge sighed.
"Seems like I remember Nancy Drew having a friend named George. I'll be him--"
"Her."
"What? No way! George is a--"
Harkon shook his head firmly.
"Well, THIS George is a guy," the Black Orc said. "And YOU can be Nancy." He
snickered and licked his fangs.
Arenamaster Harkon turned and smacked him upside the head. "You were never rude
around Nancy, so don't start now!"
SPY REPORT
Oh, hi. Its just little 'ol Debby Tonte. Thought I'd check out LOOPHOLES to
see what's new. Too bad, MY BRAIN ON CHLORINE, but RED DOG GANG was just too good to
be stopped. The guys at RED DOG GANG like really pulled together to get a 4-1-0 this
turn, moving up by 4. What was the name of that team who got 3-1-0 this turn for a
total 86-118-3 you ask? (Sure) LEGALESE's their name, and fighting's their game!
MVP award for PRETTY BOY? RED DOG GANG's proud of her after beating TRUST FUND BABY
and getting 14 points. Talk about yer big time losers! CYCLONE got smashed by
THE-SHOCKER, and lost 9 points! Don't you think the Duelmaster is being unfair? I
think LACHES should let DUNNO be Duelmaster for a while, without fighting about it.
Who was the wiseguy that said LOOPHOLES' Duelmaster was paying for drinks at The
Blind Cyclops Inn? Don't look at me!
Look, you guys stick to fighting, all right? HIT ME WITH... was the most
avoided team. Is a 57-66-2 record really that scary? I don't know what DEATH STUDS
VII's been doing. They certainly haven't been accepting many fights from HIT ME
WITH..., that's fer sher. Like, is THE SPOTLIGHT popular, or what? He was
challenged the most in all of LOOPHOLES! He's got a 19-17-1, is that good? Speaking
of challenging 27 points above did you hear about TYPHOON XXII of DEATH STUDS VII vs.
CLUB CULTURE's THE SPOTLIGHT? (And how was that intro!) What did TYPHOON XXII
expect, anyway! Of course THE SPOTLIGHT won. Next time stick to people you have a
chance against, dummy!

FACE-TO-FACE XXXIV
Our next Winter Face-to-Face will be held on Martin Luther King weekend, Friday
through Sunday, 14-16 January 2005, at the Embassy Suites in Tempe, Arizona (4400 S
Rural Rd--this is the same hotel as last year). Room rates are $139.00 per night,
1-4 occupancy, which includes breakfast. The rooms are blocked. The reservations
number is 480-897-7444; tell them you're with the "Reality Simulations Face to Face
Convention" block. Our room block will be released in mid-December, so please make
sure you reserve your room before then!
Room rates include a full cooked-to-order breakfast and a complimentary two-hour
manager's reception. There is a free shuttle to the airport, as well as free parking.
The hotel is located down the freeway in Tempe. All rooms have high speed internet
(for an extra charge). There is a fitness center, jacuzzi, and pool, and of course a
bar and Mexican restaurant inside the hotel. And there's Denny's right across the
street. Look for transportation info in the tournament information sheet.
The tournament information sheet/strategy sheet should be out sometime in late
November/early December.
If you haven't been to a Face-to-Face before, you're overdue. If you have,
