SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of ARADI! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Former top team THE MISGUIDED was unseated
this week as NATURAL DISASTERS moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top spot with a
5-0-1 record for the round. I have begun to suspect trickery on the part of
LEGALESE. How else weeks like this one's 3-0-0? How else the sudden move to 4th
team? There were bitter words at SYSTEM OF A DOWN's guildhouse after a 0-0-0 showing
this week which dropped the stable into 21st. Dark Arena anyone? My praise to
NATURAL DISASTERS for their 5-0-1 week this time out. Indeed, it was a skillfully
fought round deserving of notice! JIM PANZI caught the eye of many in the
gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested THE TAIL and was awarded 22 points in
recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, IMOTO-CHAN put down HURRICANE
XXXVII, causing him to lose 15 points of recognition in the process. Who here was
not present for the title fight this week as TYPHOON XXII boldly challenged BRUSHFIRE
in order to strive for the Duelmasters honors? Although TYPHOON XXII made a valiant
effort, it did not suffice to topple the reign of victorious BRUSHFIRE. Heed this!
A seer has warned that if exactly 6 die in duels this week, the whole city shall
perish! Just remember...5 or 7!
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. I saw one fighter that warriors
avoided when this week's challenge seeking began. 4000 BLOWS is feared. This much I
can say. Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent the
better part of last week avoiding 4000 BLOWS. Indeed it was DEATH STUDS VII. Mighty
fighters cannot but expect competition from those below. SAMANTHA HAIN take warning!
You have more than a few enemies in ARADI. I cannot but express pride for the
fearlessness of ONE-TIMER who cast caution to the winds and challenged SAMANTHA HAIN,
a fighter 29 points higher. Do not the gods reward courage? ONE-TIMER it was that
claimed victory in the bout, while also rising 8 points in recognition. For some
warriors honor is not important--only empty victory. See, gladiators, how SON OF
BLOODLUST of 4000 BLOWS challenged down 32 points to TSUNAMI. Surprising everyone,
TSUNAMI overcame SON OF BLOODLUST, earning 27 points of recognition in the process!
A knave's just desserts are the sweetest victory. At the gambling halls I have
started to bet money on SPEEDY. He has got the courage it takes. Witness his
challenge this turn against BALLROOM BLITZ! To be sure the battle was a losing one.
But I like to think SPEEDY at least gave BALLROOM BLITZ a run for his money. Give
DR. FEELGOOD credit for his courage. Did you note how he challenged HANA-KALI
despite the 31 point difference in their rankings? I must admit to some joy. Before
my very eyes the underdog in this contest, DR. FEELGOOD, defeated HANA-KALI to claim
victory and recognition.
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? Some guilds are strict but few are as heartless as THIEVES GUILD.
Witness, last turn they sent NEEBA, a 3-1-1 fighter, to the Dark Arena! The
warrior's path is harsh. For mediocrity there is but one reward--death. This past
week DERALD, at 7-5-0, departed ARADI forever. Dark alleys may hide both secrets and
assassins. In the arena there is only the brightness of steel. Keep vigil always!
If it were not for my skills as a spy I would have been mugged three times
already in ARADI. Nice atmosphere you have here! Ahh, but I can hear the spires of
a far off city calling to me. I must away! Till next we meet remember - the pen is
