                             Notes from the arena champ.

Back on the throne! Assur actually would prefer if Bus were sitting here, since I
already have all the Political Points I need to graduate. It'll likely be me against
an NPC next turn. If I had my wishes, I'd be facing a certain warrior who is
currently an Adept fighting under The Bears' management. It is somewhat amazing that
he and I were created independently of each other, but his name is creates a bad name
for me! Let me assure you that Public Transit is SAFE!

We always have people evaluating my tracks and making sure it stays safe, too. The
Public Transit system cannot afford to have wrecks or disasters. That would be the
kiss of death on a program that is already losing funding because of poor government
management and lack of public interest. But we will do our part and maintain our
integrity and rest assured, there will be no Train Wrecks on my watch!

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly VALAMANTIS games. Former top team DEVIL'S MAYHEM was
unseated this week as MIDDLE WAY 10 moved up from 3rd ranking to take the top spot
with a 4-1-0 record for the round. CARELESS BEAR caught the eye of many in the
gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested ISKSO and was awarded 15 points in
recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, SILLI put down WILD THING,
causing her to lose 4 points of recognition in the process. Our last turn's
Duelmaster has lost, folks, lost to KHALHUMS DWARF, and TRAIN has made the way for a
new Duelmaster! With TRAIN clearing the throne, PUBLIC TRANSIT of BUS takes a proud
seat as VALAMANTIS' new Duelmaster, by virtue of recognition points. Heed this! A
seer has warned that if exactly 6 die in duels this week, the whole city shall
perish! Just remember...5 or 7!
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. Mighty fighters cannot but expect
competition from those below. DIED take warning! You have more than a few enemies
in VALAMANTIS.
Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more
than its fair share of red in recent times. Some say a warrior is judged by the way
he bears arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
The girls are as pretty in VALAMANTIS as ever I remembered them....and the
fighters as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Ahh, but I can hear the spires of
a far off city calling to me. I must away! Till next we meet remember - the pen is
mightier than the sword, but a maul is a different story!-- Zontani Sharp Eyes

Din/Hell Storm -- You make my job easy! Keep those challenges coming and I'll do my
best to destroy every single undefeated warrior's record in the entire arena! --
Assur
P.S. I have no wish to see early graves dug and I give my condolences on the loss of
Celestial Fury, but I've always said if it isn't my warrior, it needs at least one
loss!

All right, all right, we're late with these. It's next month already. What can I
say? We ate too much. -- Nick, The Middle Way

Oh, SURE, Nick says that. "He ate too much." Just blowing off MY Duel2Dude's column
because he was a PIG. This is just soooo managerial, I want to SPIT. -- Chip Enser
P.S. I mean, I BEAT TRAIN. I GRADUATED. And he didn't care enough to let me do a
column! Is this anyway to treat a Lord Protector?
P.P.S. You'd hardly believe I have a quite respectable charisma, the way I get
treated.
P.P.P.S. 12-9-19-15-11-9-9 LS, mod/mod, retirement.

Inferno Serpetn -- Dare I say, "You were hot!"? -- Alta Chess

Hajj'il Tan'ni -- I'm curious about your name, but not curious enough to let you win.
Not, at least, when I can defeat you. -- Doc Felle

Colossus's Fire -- (wearily) (It was quite a party) You burn me up. -- Eb Gollu

Ghost of Celestial Fury -- Heck. I didn't mean to do that. In fact, I didn't think
I COULD do that. I'm a total parry, for pete's sake! May you fare well in whatever
afterlife awaits you. -- Bensi Durn

Current stuff--

Inferno Serpent -- That was well done and avenges your teammate, although I realize
you may wish to come again. I'll be here. -- Bensi Durn the moderately remorseful

Colossus's Fire -- Bold challenge, considering that we've killed twice now in two
turns. I think it's something in the latest bag of beans we got. I bet it's
contaminated with Dark Root. -- Eb Gollu
P.S. But I didn't eat any. I hate beans.

Train -- Well, at least you came by the title honestly. -- Chip Enser

Train Wreck -- No, really, I'm not laughing at you. But I'm not going to lie down on
the tracks, either. -- Doc Felle

Hajj'il Than'ni -- I just didn't have TIME to play games with you today. I have to
catch a train. -- Alta Chess

Hammer 500-Hammer Run for the Roll Ups
                                  Hosted by Hammer

Niytyole Island DM 33 has dwindled to the point where as of T-482 [duedate
November 3, 2004] there were only 2 active stables listed with 3 inactive stables in
a once thriving and lively regular arena.
During the past 40+ cycles Hammer has been hosting the Hammer Run for the Roll
Ups in DM 33.
Thus far only the Ripper and Slasher categories have produced winners to claim
the 5 New Team Roll Ups Prize for being the first declared Style Master of their
respective categories to graduate.
Every contending stable has gone inactive for one reason or another, including
CASINO HAMMERZ, over the past several months.
Now DM 33 faces the harsh reality that if RSI chooses to close any arenas due to
little or no interest, Niytyole Island could very well head the list of endangered
regular arenas!
In an effort to preserve his beloved island, Hammer is announcing the
continuation of the Hammer Run for the Roll Ups; combined with the Hammer 500 which
will conclude both contests on T-500 [duedate July 13, 2005] should DM 33 continue to
remain open in the coming months.
     Attention Hammer Runners!
The Hammer Run is for 0 FE Basic Arena Warriors ONLY. Participants MUST Be
Declared in the P-ads On or Before their First DM 33 Basic Arena Fight to Qualify as
a Hammer Runner! Winners of Each Category will receive 5 New Team Roll Up Gift
Certificates mailed from RSI courtesy of Hammer! [On the condition that they
Graduate on or before T-500; see amended rules below!]
The following Style Master categories remain open with a listing of how many
declared contestants are still entered and their W/L recognition record at the time
of their disappearance from the Hammer Run competition:

need to be closed due to lack of participation and interest.

transfer CASINO HAMMERZ to another arena if Niytyole Island is closed by RSI and the

Battle Royal 4
The Battle Royal arena contests are one of the purest tests of manager skill
available. The rules are simple. The scoring is simple. The updates are live. If
you would like to participate, simply get a team ready in Talcama in the next month
and announce in the personals that you're in. The prize is bragging rights and
having your name along side previous winners (Doc Steele, Manray Frothingslosh, and
Manager). It is a brutal contest, but it is a lot of fun!
Basic rules: No avoiding other contest teams. Score = Wins + Kills - Losses.
Only fights against other BR teams count. First team to 25 wins!
BR4 begins in Talcama (DM 18) on turn 502, due on Jan 29, 2005.
