DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
That was a very nice fight from my random match-up with Disorder. TigToad is pleased
to get a win against Paranoia, a team which has a history of killing innocent Toads.
Anyway, well fought, Sir Disorder, and good luck in the future. This turn I offer my
challenge to Forla. As she graduated, I figured I'd see what she can do with her
favorites. I wish the best of luck to everyone on the sands this coming turn and am
hopeful to see many of you participating in Philadelphia in a few weeks. -- Amplitur
SPY REPORT
Well, what are you looking at, DAL SHANG? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens
before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. If this keeps up, REFUGEES, you'll have
to shine swords instead of use them. A drop of 4 in the rankings? SAND DANCERS
turned their 4-1-0 turn into a 2nd place rank in the listings this turn. Any better
than this, and you get put on hit lists. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to
see WHATCHAMACALLIT win a fight and gain 27 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk,
WHATCHAMACALLIT beat TAIPAN and TAIPAN lost 29 points. You're breakin' my heart.
AMPLITUR challenged FORLA for DAL SHANG's Title this turn, and guess what happened?
And if variety is the spice of life, DAL SHANG may be getting bland, as AMPLITUR
stays top dog in the city. Kickbacks and bribes, kickbacks and bribes, how else do
you think some of these guys win their fights? Skill? Ha!
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. DARK TOADS, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were
this turn's most avoided team. Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And it
looks like PARANOIA avoided them the most this turn. What a pack of would be losers,
if you ask me. Hmph. Ooh, I'm frightfully impressed, CHURRO THE HOOK was this
turn's most challenged warrior. Watch that ego swell, sports fans. I guess I can
give a little credit to WAIS of DARK TOADS for challenging up by 24 to MARDEN VOSS.
WAIS lost to get 37 points of recognition. And we have METHADONE in a challenge,
going down 10 points for the fight. Guess what? I thought METHADONE showed great
skill and promise when he won victory over DOOHICKEY. All right, so I slept through
it! Big deal!
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. And now a passing thought on a warrior
dying young (PANOMIME of PARANOIA): You had your chance and now you're dead. Oh
well... Let's see, 10-5-0. Pretty good record for a living warrior. A sad one
though, for a dead one. Such is the case for BEAUJOT of TOO GOOD FOR ME. Tsk.
Titanium shields and bamboo daggers, guess what brave team is developing these kinds
of weapons?
There's got to be a better place in DAL SHANG to get a drink than The Blazing
Unicorn! Any suggestions? Well, I've had enough of this drivel, and I'm sure you
have too. Off like a dirty shirt of padded leather. Glad to see the back of this
place-- Snide Clemens

PERSONAL ADS
Sand Dancers -- I sincerely regret the death of Tessa. :( She was a lovely young
woman and under no circumstances did I wish for her death, especially not at my
hands. I had no idea those daggers were so deadly. -- Taipan
Sand Dancers -- You know my policy regarding killing strategies: I don't sanction
them in basic arenas. After the unfortunate death of Tessa, I reviewed Tapian's
fight to make sure he had followed my orders. He had. It must have been his
unfamiliarity with the use of the dagger that caused his shot to stray from his
intended target to the head. My sincere condolences to all of you. -- Poison Ivy
Lepar -- Oh right, you just HAD to bust my nice record. If you had any chance of
teaching me something it might be worth my time but I'm steering clear of you! --
Doohickey
Churro -- Ow. You know, they say pain is an effective teacher but guess I was
hurting too much to pay attention. Sorry about having to return the favor in my own
defense. -- Whatchamacallit
Assur -- Who knew you read personal ads here in Dal Shang. TigToad informed me I can
accept your thanks on my behalf. -- Amplitur
Marden Voss -- I have a jewel in my head? Ack! That's going to clash with so many
of my outfits. -- Wais
Lani -- It's a heck of a lot better than three losses against standbys. -- TigToad
Forla -- Congratulations on your inevitable and deserved graduation. I'm giving you
a parting chance at the throne. -- Amplitur & the Dark Toads
One-Eyed Jack -- You're a squint-eyed devil, you know that, don't you? -- Marden Voss
Panomime -- How thrilling. -- Durvan the unsurprised and not terrible happy to be one
gladiator
Taipan -- I was always afraid of snakes. Now I know why. -- ghost of Tessa tyl Kogan
May-Ling Shen -- The audience expected YOU to surrender to ME, you see. That's why
they were stunned and disapproving. -- Ming the Terrible
Standbys, gotta love 'em. -- Jesse Tavan
Amplitur -- Remind me not to try to use telepathic abilities during a fight. They
seem to have a strongly disorganizing effect on my alleged mind. -- Ghost of Tessa
Beaujot -- You can study to improve, though. -- Forla
Whatchamacallit -- Oh, it's ol' Whosit again. -- Churro the Hook
Methadone -- Lotta skills lying around after that one. Not bad. -- Murgon
Human -- I don't think you're human at ALL. I think you're really some kind of
disgusting, warty amphibian! -- Koreen
Doohickey -- Hmm, that's a thought. I'll have to see what's hiding in the armory. --
Koreen
Darkfist -- No, sorry. I don't know anybody in Sibikhas, if anybody is in Sibikhas
any more. My record's typical for the teams managed by my "player behind." -- Churro
the Hook
Gizmo -- Thanks for not running last turn. Saved me another loss. -- Jeanine
Forla -- Say! You're pretty good, for a refugee. -- Beaujot, Too Good For Me

A note to everyone regarding manager names and manager lists -- If you're running a
team incognito, all you have to do is let me know and I won't put your name on any
manager lists. It has seemed though, that more people want their names listed, even
if they do not announce themselves, than the other way around. Also, I do maintain
the list more or less by hand and errors do creep in. You have but to say I've made
an error and no one will be the wiser (except thee and me, of course). -- The Saint,
keeper of lists

ANNOUNCING THE RETURN OF STORMCROWE SLAUGHTERHOUSE
The last Stormcrowe Slaughterhouse was one of the closest and most exciting
contests ever held in Alastari. Such an epic demands a sequel. Therefore, Master
Darque and Jack Wolfspider are pleased to announce the return of the Stormcrowe
Slaughterhouse.
Where? Stormcrowe DM 45 (slow). When? The Slaughterhouse returns on Turn 207,
due August 19. How can you get into the action? Bring a team (one per entrant
please) to arena 45 and announce your intention to join the contest in the Personals.
Rules: This time around the rules are very simple. Each warrior win against a
higher rated opponent (one or more points higher in the ratings) brings you 10
points, against even rated opponent 7 points, lower rated 5 points. Wins against
NPCs or by a warrior who downchallenges are worth 0 points. Points are doubled for
kills. All warriors in the arena whether participating in the Slaughterhouse or not
are fair game. Points are totaled weekly, and the contestant whose team has racked
up the most points at the end of 10 turns is declared Slaughterhouse Champion.
Prizes: To be announced; we're still talking with RSI about it. Figure it will
be something pretty good. But hey, who needs prizes when the honor of being
Slaughterhouse Champion awaits!
More info: Master Darque, MasterDarqueDM@aol.com, or Jack Wolfspider,
russtulp@aol.com. Or diplo Darque Forces (428) or Dynastic (433) in Arena 45.
