SPY REPORT
Much has changed in DAL SHANG since last I was here. Never fear, Olaf Modeen
adapts to many situations, as do all successful fighters. Biff! Pow! DAL SHANG
watched with glee as SAND DANCERS got knocked off top spot by REFUGEES! What's with
MARDEN VOSS? He actually beat DARK TOADS' LEPAR, and walked away with 22 more points
from the fight. Major screwup at SAND DANCERS. JESSE TAVAN lost 16 points to
MAY-LING SHEN. Some new strategies, perhaps? Maybe JESSE TAVAN will provide more
easy wins... I'm sure DAL SHANG is excited about JEANINE, the new Duelmaster from
TOO GOOD FOR ME. (remember?) But when you've seen as many as I have... I suppose
you want to hear some rumors and dirty gossip about your fellow fighters? Tough!
No matter the time or place, men will always duel. How well I know the feeling
of being in the most avoided team! Don't fall out of practive, JACK ATTACK!
Management must be dealin', as the boys at CARD SHARKS ain't reelin'! JACK ATTACK's
mad! What do people see in CHURRO THE SPIKE? His 3-0-0? REFUGEES ain't talkin',
but he's got 13 points. Taunt your opponent MING THE TERRIBLE! That was my lucky
charm when I was unfairly challenged. (and by 19 points!) ONE EYED JACK should have
an easy win. ONE EYED JACK bested MING THE TERRIBLE. JACK ATTACK calls this
fighting? In my day...
There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters
to walk away, or not? How long have I been here? I got people to see, places to
go...
Who knows what the future holds for a warrior. More fights, there's no doubt.
All work and no play makes Olaf a dull fighter. Work and play no fighter dull Olaf.
Olaffighterwork and no play. Remember--a good fighter needs both good skills and
good luck. Until next time,-- Olaf Modeen

PERSONAL ADS
Murgon -- No, I'm not one of your mother's friends. I'm one of my manager's first
loves, which definitely puts me over the hill. -- Jeanine
Koreen -- Bad style matchup, that's all. -- Jeanine
Ming the Terrible -- I'll avoid inserting any colorful banter after your name...it's
just too easy. And I have noticed (believe it or not) that we seem to have met on
the sands a little too often for my tastes. As for your thoughts on the matter of
who should and shouldn't be winning and/or participating in the arena...never mind,
that's too easy too. *grin* -- May-Ling Shen
One-Eyed Jack -- I'd like to put THAT eye out, too. Darn. -- Marden Voss the Sorely
Wounded
Lepar -- You any kin to the Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County? -- Jesse
Tavan
Wais -- The only surprise in that match was that it was my turn to lose to you. I
thought I had a few weeks yet before that happened. Ah, well. -- Durvan
P.S. You're a damned good student for someone with more fights than I've got.
Standbys. Bah. -- Ming the Terrible
P.S. Everybody's afraid to face me, yes?
If that's the case, they must be afraid to face lots of us, which doesn't make sense.
I think it's just "nobody home." -- Dilys tyl Kogan
The Professor -- And you only taught me ONE skill? You're not much of a professor!
-- Churro the Spike
Jeanine -- Maybe you need to exorcise your bathtub? -- Koreen
May-Ling Shen -- I don't know what Ming sees in you. -- Murgon
Damn standbys anyway. -- Konga Dilli
Wais -- We have never doubted your courtesy and honor. -- Koreen
P.S. And we all congratulate you on your graduation.
8 December 2003
Greetings! I would like to invite everyone to Jhans (DM 36) for the first annual kLk
St. Valentine's Day Massacre (kill contest). We will start the contest off with the
ceremonial burning of the Andorian flag on turn 450. (Six turns away. Roughly mid-
February.) The contest will run for 10 turns. On turn 461, 3 separate victors will
be announced. Team with the most kills, warrior with the most kills, and alliance
with the most kills. Prizes will be awarded to the manager of the team with the most
kills and to the manager of the warrior with the most kills. The prizes will
probably be team roll-ups. The number of roll-ups has yet to be determined. The
contest is sponsored by Jhans' newest, (but by the time the contest starts) largest
alliance, the kLk (pronounced "klick"). -- Polarius, mgr. of Blitzkrieg DM 36

TOURNEY FREEZE CHANGE -- ADVANCE NOTICE
Beginning at the Winter Face-to-Face in Tempe (January 2004), we will implement
several changes affecting tournaments. The tournament announcement for the upcoming
FTF and future tourneys will reflect these changes.
First, we will eliminate the tourney freeze for all regular DM warrior classes.
Regular DM warriors will not be classed ahead of the tournament, but instead will
fight according to their FE on the date of the tourney. There will still be a freeze
for the ADM classes, occurring on the same timeline as before, approximately 6 weeks
before the tournament.
In addition to the above change, the warrior classes will be slightly altered.
The new tourney classes will be as follows:
DM Tourney Classes ADM Tourney Classes
====================== ======================
0 FE: Rookies Freshmen
1-4 FE: Apprentices ADM
5-10 FE: Initiates Eligibles
11-20 FE: Adepts ---induction---
21-30 FE: Champions Contenders
31+ FE: Challengers Primus
All regular DM tourney classes will remain solely FE based. All ADM classes will
now be based on warrior characteristics (i.e., the ADM split algorithm), including the
Freshmen class.
The Gateway and Primus arenas will be merging before the FTF to form one top
arena. These warriors will be split into two tournament classes, the Contenders and
the Primus classes, again based upon their characteristics. More information on this
will be published in the newsletters for those arenas.
If you have any questions about the above changes, please contact Customer
Service. Good luck in your games.
