                             Notes from the arena champ.

Me again, still on top...but will that last? I see Methadone climbing fast, perhaps
to make a bid for my position? Should be an interesting match and I'm not at all
confident of a win with only an exp Init, adex Parry. Thanks to Murgon I've gotten
my adex Decise (thanks slowpoke!), perhaps that will make a difference as well. I'm
betting it will come down to whomever swings first. When we last met he was only 6-
2-0 (6 fights ago for me) and I did all the swinging but he out-learned me 5 to 1 and
that's a lot of potential skills after 7 fights.... I do hope that if there is a new
Duelmaster next turn he will have the good grace to say a few words to the masses.
Time to get back to the training hall. See you soon?

                                      SPY REPORT

Hail DAL SHANG! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for
your deeds. The SAND DANCERS guild has had a 4-1-0 turn and deserves to be watched
in the future. You never know where this kind of thing can lead. And let's see,
KONGA DILLI fought CAPTIAN LENSAR and gained 15 points and contributed to REFUGEES'
3-1-0. DURVAN has lost to SWEET ANELLA, falling 9 points, while helping make SAND
DANCERS a 4-1-0 turn. JEANINE challenged for the Duelmastership this turn,
attempting to dethrone BUENO FER NADA's warrior. Defending his title for another
turn, WHATCHAMACALLIT kept TOO GOOD FOR ME's warrior, JEANINE, from claiming the
throne. Can someone confirm a rumor for me? I hear the top team makes their losing
fighters do dishes at The Blazing Unicorn until they win. Maybe?
Oriental wise man once say, 'Hiding behind shields prevents proper sun tanning.'
Inscrutable, but true. I also notice that the OZ 3 stable was the most avoided team
this turn. Come on DAL SHANG, what are you afraid of? And avoiding OZ 3 more than
any other team we find CARD SHARKS. DAL SHANG, are we going to accept, or respect
this sort of thing? The most challenged warrior this turn was BUENO FER NADA's
warrior DOOHICKEY. More fighters challenged him than challenged the Duelmaster! In
a brave attempt, THE PROFESSOR from CARD SHARKS challenged up 22 points to fight
DOOHICKEY from the BUENO FER NADA stable. THE PROFESSOR perhaps got his just
desserts, seeing as he was overcame by DOOHICKEY and ended up with 32 recognition
points.
The Dark Arena is for those who cannot win, not who cannot lose with grace.
Dignity in life or death is the warrior's creed. We'd like to remind certain teams
not to rob the graves of their enemies. You know who you are; and it's considered
rude.
Thought for the day, a new sword shines bright, but the notched sword sings the
sweetest. Always good to rest in DAL SHANG, but never good to wear out my welcome.
Look for me in future turns. Until you see my quill in DAL SHANG again, farewell--

MONGO'S MARDI GRAS MADNESS DUELMASTERS AUCTION

Mongo, aka Matt McIntosh and ex-Warden of the Dark Circle, is auctioning off his
entire collection of Duelmasters warriors and stables. Don't miss out on this chance
to own some fantastic warriors! There are ADM warriors available in every class from
Primus to Freshmen, as well as over a dozen Basic stables.
Does a Slasher with +4 attack, +4 decisiveness, +3 initiative and +2 riposte
sound good? How about a Lunger who received the benefit of a TC prize, has TVed
three times after graduating--and still hasn't maxed out his skills!? How about a
Striker in the Freshmen class who has decisiveness for a favorite learn and the MAUL
for a favorite weapon!?
Or perhaps you prefer playing in Basic. Then how does a stable with four Adept
class warriors who have a combined record of 41-19-9 sound? Or maybe a stable with
three 21-Will warriors? Or perhaps a stable with four Initiates and a Rookie who
have a combined record of 23-6-1?
The quality of the lots is excellent. All you need to view and bid on the lots
is go to:
          http://members.aol.com/jvmerlino/mardigras.html
If you want to be on the mailing list to receive regular updates on the auction,
just send an e-mail to JVMerlino@aol.com. Merlin, aka John Merlino and also an ex-
Warden of the Dark Circle, will be running this auction for me. I just moved to New
Orleans and am likely currently stumbling around the French Quarter...because it's
Mardi Gras! So I have named my auction in honor of this occasion.
The auction will start on Saturday, March 13th, 2004, and will continue for
several weeks. But you should get your bids in early if you want your best chance at
owning any of these fantastic warriors and stables.
Many thanks to all for your interest and your bids,

Mongo
