SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of DAL SHANG! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp
Eyes, Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. LIQUID COURAGE caught the eye of
many in the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested CHURRO THE SPIKE and was
awarded 21 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, BACKLASH
put down PORGARAL, causing him to lose 8 points of recognition in the process. This
time victory fell to the grasp of the usurper. All hail DILYS TYL KOGAN, Duelmaster
of DAL SHANG! Heed this! A seer has warned that if exactly 6 die in duels this
week, the whole city shall perish! Just remember...5 or 7!
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. Loose talk at the arena has
reached my ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters are after
KASSELA TYL DRU. Watch your back! A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games
this week, it seems that DILBERT posted a challenge against the more highly
recognized KASSELA TYL DRU. The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand DILBERT was
defeated by KASSELA TYL DRU. Remember warriors, this is the discipline of steel.
Is not Death a warrior's foremost adviser? Warriors, may this counselor stand
ready at your right hand forever! Let all swords of the city take heed! By law,
SUPERIOR FORCES 4I has but one remaining week to take their revenge upon MURGON for
the slaying of CHIPP. Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms. One
thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? More than a sharp eye must I keep, indeed a
stout pair of legs must I keep as well! The endless paths of Alastari await me!
Till next we meet remember: a fool flies into a rage quickly and often. The wise
are angered by the same thing only once. Zontani Sharp Eyes

PERSONAL ADS
All five of the Sand Dancers fought standbys this turn, but since the newsletter
NEEDS their contributions, they will be writing personals anyway. Whether they want
to or no. -- Lani, acting manager
Lendo ten Chardin -- I'll gloat if I want to! I CREAMED you. (pause for thought)
SOUR-creamed you. With chives. And cherry tomatoes. Yes, and jalapeno peppers,
too, so there! -- Ming the Terrible
I think someone should let Sweet Anella retire. She really isn't cut out for this
life. In fact, I can't imagine how she came to start. Lured on by some fast-talking
man, no doubt. There should be a law! -- Dilys tyl Kogan
Well, I have to admit that despite being a hairy little guy with a funny accent,
Maldi Stonebreaker was practically a gentleman. Within the limits of the situation,
you know. I'd think it's as hard to be a complete gentleman in the arena as it is to
be a true lady there. But we all try. -- Jesse Tavan
What *I* think is that Dilys is full of it. "Sweet" Anella? As if! That's one
tough broad, and not much of a teacher, either. Stingy, I call it. -- Durvan
P.S. I heard that she entered the gladiatorial life as the alternative to prison.
Bervan the Tinker -- Er...did no one ever tell you that a kettle lid--a patched one,
at that--doesn't make a good shield? And that braiding your beard where it hangs
down your chest, though decorative, doesn't do much to protect your torso? -- Kassela
tyl Dru
That was just totally MEAN. I went out there for a SERIOUS fight, and I drew the
Master of the Edge (edge of what, the bounder's unarmed!), and he kicked me in the
throat! Is that any way for a gladiatorial contest to be conducted? I ask you! --
Murgon the Ill-Used
Titania -- A wonderful match! You get two skills, the win, and the duty of writing a
column, and *I* get an invitation to the Isle of the Eye! Who's ahead on that one,
eh? Why, I might even GO to the Isle. -- Koreen
Backlash -- (wincing) That backstroke is wicked. And remind me not to lean against
a veritable wall of blades, too. Ouch! -- Churro the Spike
This Sagat of Paidan (where IS Paidan, I never heard of it?) seems quite the
gentleman, or anyway friendly. Offered to buy me a drink after the fight and all.
And even if I AM in training, it's okay to drink AFTER the fight, isn't it? So I
will. -- Porgaral
Porgaral -- Paidan's a piddly little place down in Ratan. No money, no industry, not
many people. They grow wine grapes. Very quiet town. You wouldn't like it. --
Zarla
17 July 2004
I am currently trying to put together a favorites chart for AD warriors. I
desperately need help with this. What I need are style, favorite rhythm (ex.:
hi/low), favorite weapons, and tactics. What would be great is if you could send me
a copy of the invite with the warrior's name, id#, and arena blacked out. This way,
I can verify that this is an actual warrior. Minis will work, too!
For those interested, I have both a challenge style vs. style and a match-up style
vs. style chart. There's about 250 fights calculated in these charts, and I'll be
happy to send a copy to anyone who asks. You can contact me (if you're a free world
player) at: Rick Stringer, Merit/East, SCI, P.O. Box 500, Georgetown, DE 19947-0500.
If you're in prison, just send a diplo to: Baphomet, Mgr. Knights Templar (568), DM
#47--North Fork. (I also have a lot of other charts and info for anyone who wants
it.) Thanks!
30 July 2004
The total number of fights calculated was reported as 250 fights. This is a
misprint. It should have read "over 2,500 fights." -- Baphomet
