Since I actually lost the title match, I am allowing Maldi Stonebreaker, the victor, to do the column, even though the Commission ignores his right to it. Tebas ten Kogan Well, it's only fair, after all. But a lot of gladiators are too glad to have the stupid title--can you spend it at the weaponsmith's? As if!--to do the right thing. Not that I have a lot to say, or there's anyone here who's listening. But it's the principle of the thing. So, here goes whatever. As you might guess from my id number, the Commission wanted to call me the Khalhums Dwarf. Idiots. Sure, I'm a dwarf, and proud of it, too! And I can see why any self-respecting dwarf would want to get out of that dead-alive hole, Khalhums. But I'm from the Hall of Khra, which is north of here, north even of Lin Tirian. A fine place, Khra, better than any Alastarian dwarf-hole. Good mines, good smithies. WE don't have to leave home to support ourselves, like those Khalhumsites. Which is why you don't see lots of the Dwarves of Khra in the arenas. As if! Just a few of us, to keep any eye on the workings of the Grey Witch. Now, THERE is a troublemaker. Not that any of you gladiators are going to listen to me on that--too eager to get her promised "immortality"! If only you knew what strings were attached.... Maldi Stonebreaker P.S. Yes, and I could eat Churro the Spike for breakfast, except that he's too greasy. SPY REPORT Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the clash and bustle of the weekly DAL SHANG games. My praise to REFUGEES for their 3-1-0 week this time out. Indeed, it was a skillfully fought round deserving of notice! CHURRO THE SPIKE caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested CAPTIAN LENSAR and was awarded 12 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, ONE-EYED YOFAN put down KO LAO-DEN, causing him to lose 11 points of recognition in the process. The city has turned out in honor of BACKLASH, for with his arena victory he may now lay claim to the highest position in the city! Informants "close" to the city champion have told me that he never fights without pantyhose on beneath his armor. Watch out! Many and various are the arts of battle. In DAL SHANG "art" is a word that has long since passed from the language! Is not Death a warrior's foremost adviser? Warriors, may this counselor stand ready at your right hand forever! Fate is a fickle mistress. She showers the miserable with fortune but sets enemies against the victorious. Remember this! A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise manager learn the secrets of them all? Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till we meet again, remember: a turtle walks slow, hides head in a shell, and harms no one; a lion runs to slay its prey.-- Zontani Sharp Eyes DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME BACKLASH 6518 10 3 0 83 TOO GOOD FOR ME (600) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME CHURRO THE SPIKE 6554 16 23 1 81 REFUGEES (377) CHALLENGER ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME DAKORIL 6596 13 8 1 64 REFUGEES (377) TEBAS TEN KOGAN 6598 10 9 0 64 SAND DANCERS (233) KASSAL TEN DRU 6608 8 4 0 59 SAND DANCERS (233) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME JERI TAVAN 6615 7 3 0 52 SAND DANCERS (233) GOBARL 6604 8 9 0 46 REFUGEES (377) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME KO LAO-DEN 6614 7 3 1 41 SAND DANCERS (233) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME RAGOLAS 6607 4 11 1 24 REFUGEES (377) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME DANNAL TEN VARN 6621 2 0 0 21 SAND DANCERS (233) '-' denotes a warrior who did not fight this turn. THE DEAD W L K TEAM NAME SLAIN BY TURN Revenge? PERSONAL ADS I beat Mim Yellowhair, so it's ME who gets to do a personal, right? Not that I have anything to say, and Mim isn't listening anyway. Drat the woman, she NEVER listens. -- Kassal ten Dru the annoyed It is advised that Dengan the Trader should confine himself to trading in the future, as he is not skilled in the arena. -- Ko Lao-Den P.S. But he's murderous with an abacus. I don't see why Kassal has such a down on Mim, but I can see why SHE has a down on HIM. She's a lady, even if she is a foreigner, and he's RUDE. -- Jeri Tavan Remind me never to buy anything mended by Vervan the Tinker. Even if he's better at tinkering than gladiating (and he could hardly be worse), that isn't saying much. -- Dannal ten Varn Ed. -- True, but during the daytime, at least, they are quiet. THIS place is even quiet at night. -- Li Dan I'd rather have quiet at night than during the day. At night I sleep--day is for banging drums and reducing innocent trees to shreds. -- Ed. Backlash -- Wow, a real match! I'd be so excited...if I'd won. (sigh) Good fight for you, I guess, but you were too good for me. -- Gobarl Nobody said I had to be nice to Dengan, who IS a foreigner, after all, so I wasn't. -- Dakoril Everybody agrees that we should send Feltar of Illis BACK to Illis, and I did my bit to encourage him to go. Why doesn't he, anyway? It isn't like he's WELCOME here. -- Ragolas 4 May 2005 Several questions have been asked about Slaughter's Challenge that I'd like to address and clarify. 1) All Prizes must be used on the contest team, this includes the resurrection. Remember any fast arena team should be able to transfer to a slow arena (except for arena 82, I believe). 2) Warriors will be allowed to fight and run in the dead tourney, should there be one, and return if an opening can be made without breaking the rules (i.e. only one DA fight allowed per team). 3) If you win your single DA match you do not get another. It's one use of the Dark Arena win or lose so if you want him/her/it dead be sure and throw the match! 4) The resurrection potion's longevity has been extended by the commission to 6 months but the other potions (favorites, and +1 bonus) must still be used within 2 turns and on a 5 FE or higher warrior. The resurrection can go on any warrior regardless of FE. Street Legal P.S. My thanks to those already entered (Hammer, The Consortium, Tripwire, Stik, and Shaman) and hope many more find a reason to come to arena 54. Again, my email is triumph1971@hotmail.com or you can diplo me in arena 14 at THE DEATH SQUAD (63) if you need more info! 21 May 2005 Amendment for "Fratsfas Quest for the Best!" Managers that have teams already established in Fratsfa need not have (3) three warriors in the initiates. FE will NOT be a factor. Stables may be entered at any time. Just announce your stable in the p-ads. *************************************************************************** This in my invitation to all managers who wish to prove their mettle against managers from all over Alastari. We have limited TP's in this contest to one a team at a time. We DO NOT want this contest to become a scum fest as many others have, hence the Andorian arena. Good luck to all who come to prove their skills.
