First because Linnis was the only woman on the team at the present, and cooking was, the men were all sure of it, women's work. She claimed her status as a gladiator meant she wasn't one of the women who were "supposed" to cook. Usually adding that no women really LIKED to cook for "dirty, noisy, always-hungry men." But the second and principal reason they weer glad when it came around her turn to cook was that she was good at. This put her way ahead of her teammates. She handed around skewers that were threaded with chunks of meat and vegetables, then took her seat and smiled brightly. "So, anything new on the weird tracks?" Harith scowled. "No. Forget the tracks, they're no fun. I'm not going to look for any more of them." He snapped at one of the pieces of meat on his skewer, tearing off a bite. After a moment, the intense silence of his teammates registered, and he looked around at them. "What?" "You're just going to give up?" Garno asked. "Quit?" "That's what you all want, isn't it? Well, you've got it. I'm not going to go beating my head against a stone wall just for FUN, you know." More silence. Linnis bit her lip. "But... what if there really are monsters?" she asked. Kordal twitched his shoulders, not quite a shrug. "Evil alien invaders," he muttered. "Magical. If we don't see them, maybe they won't see us." * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * ---===FREE BLADES REGIONAL NEWS===--- Duelmasters ----------- DM 9 ZUKAL (turn 664): SHORT SKIRT of HOT STUFF (Papa Bear, mgr.) DM 75 JADE MOUNTAIN (turn 443): BRASELL of KIWI CONNECTION (The Mun, mgr.) SPY REPORT Hail and well met warriors of DAL SHANG! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes, Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. KOLACTAN KABOB caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested GARNO TEN KORO and was awarded 12 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, LINNIS TYL SORN put down SILVER EYES, causing her to lose 3 points of recognition in the process. The city has turned out in honor of SSSKAH, for with hers arena victory she may now lay claim to the highest position in the city! No confirmation, but my sources claim that the top team has gained their position using magical aids. Charmed weapons perhaps? I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when this week's challenge seeking began. CASTAWAYS is feared. This much I can say. Apparently the stalwarts of SHEWISH BUFFET are catching the bulk of jests down at the challenging board for their large share of the avoids. Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more than its fair share of red in recent times. Dark alleys may hide both secrets and assassins. In the arena there is only the brightness of steel. Keep vigil always! The girls are as pretty in DAL SHANG as ever I remembered them....and the fighters as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Ahh, but I can hear the spires of a far off city calling to me. I must away! Till we meet again, remember: a turtle walks slow, hides head in a shell, and harms no one; a lion runs to slay its prey.-- Zontani Sharp Eyes DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME SSSKAH 7059 11 11 0 109 CASTAWAYS (387) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -KRAIT 7054 11 2 0 93 SERPENTS HOLD (732) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME HARITH TEN MORU 7047 18 11 0 92 SAND DANCERS (233) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME KOLACTAN KABOB 7072 5 0 2 75 SHEWISH BUFFET (734) CHALLENGER ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME GARNO TEN KORO 7037 14 24 0 66 SAND DANCERS (233) KORDAL T'ROHN 7077 13 5 1 66 SAND DANCERS (233) -RECOIL 7063 11 4 0 62 SERPENTS HOLD (732) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME LINNIS TYL SORN 7094 4 0 1 46 SAND DANCERS (233) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME SILVER EYES 7088 5 4 0 30 CASTAWAYS (387) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME MARAN TEN PALAN 7089 4 4 0 16 SAND DANCERS (233) '-' denotes a warrior who did not fight this turn.
