TEAM SPOTLIGHT
A faint musty smell greeted him as he cracked open the door to the small tower that he
and his gladiators had called home in the past. Other than that small detail
everything looked to be in order and in decent condition. *Not too bad considering how
long it's been. It seems I chose wisely when setting up the contract to keep things
cleaned and in shape while I was away.*
The door swung shut behind him, the hinges barely making a noise, as he stepped into
the main room. *It has barely changed even though it's been nearly 15 years.* He
smiled wryly as he caught sight of himself in a mirror on his way to the table.
*You've barely changed, either, my friend.* The years had been kind to him, so far,
leaving his face relatively free of wrinkles and blemishes and his physique still fit
but slender. The only real sign of any aging were the whisps of grey hair coming in at
his temples.
He took a seat at the head of the table as his thoughts drifted back to the very first
time he'd sat here with the gladiators he'd been proud to call friends. How he'd got
them here was something he'd always been a bit vague about, considering the prejudices
and superstitions that had reigned at the time. He still wasn't sure whether or not
the residents of Dal Shang could stomach or even believe the truth of how he recruited
his warriors, but in the end it didn't matter as long as they put on a good show and
got a chance to live out lives that would have been cut short had they not been given
the chance.
Too many had still met with a tragic end, but they'd faced it in entirely different
circumstances compared to what they had been expecting. He still remembered all their
names and there was still a chance he could save some of them with the prizes that
were bestowed during the Tournament of the Dead. That was for the future, though;
right now he needed to focus on getting the tower restocked in preparation for his
gladiators' return.
It was time for The Immortals to return to the sands of Dal Shang.
SPY REPORT
Like the magnificent Sun, rising upon the Dawn and exiling the Night for a Day,
I, Novgorodny Vir, return once again! Nothing is certain in DAL SHANG, with changing
loyalties, changing Duelmasters. Write this down: new top team--WEIRD STUDENTS.
Nothing works for a team like victory (How's that for a perceptive observation?) as
THAT SMELL can attest... Practice pays for DERRINGER, who pummelled FIRE OPAL, to
pocket 18 points. A certain someone should cut down on the drinking and practice
more, after losing 11 points to DERRINGER. (Discrete enough, FIRE OPAL?) In DAL
SHANG, nothing is permanent (except Death), and we find ourselves a new Duelmaster,
HEMATITE. So who was the warrior seen charging into immovable walls and challenging
dead trees? Someone's got a basic problem...
So much to report, so little time! Perhaps the warriors of POSSE should take up
some hobbies, as they are the most avoided team... The warriors of POSSE found their
efforts at combat frustrated as LAUGH TRACK LORDS apparently had more important
things to do than fight.
Ah, the duel! The roar of the oppenent, the smell of the crowd! Those who owe
APACHE FOG of SUPERNATURAL money and had written him off, take note: he'S BACK FROM
THE DARK ARENA!!! AND he'S MAD!!! SMALL BELRAN in the Dark Arena wasn't enough for
DA1 of THAT SMELL. Maybe that certain serving girl(?) at The Blazing Unicorn will
be! Ask not for whom the sword slashes; it slashes for thee.
All good things must come to an end. My fingers tire and I fear my incessant
prattling may cause unfair judgement upon my impeccable character. DAL SHANG, I
leave you now. The Duelmaster has agreed to foot my bill at The Blazing Unicorn.
