TEAM SPOTLIGHT
I bought a carpet. Is this a crime? The floor was cold. Besides, it was all
that Housekeeper's fault. She sent me out to get potatoes. Something about
gladiators having to buy their own food. Maybe I'll rethink this gladiator stuff if
it's going to be like that.
Anyway, Hanna the Housekeeper told me to get the potatoes at some place called
the "Root Cellar," which is supposed to be a store, I guess. And she gave me
directions. They looked like good directions. Go down Straight Street, turn at the
corner with the fish fry shop, directions like that. Well, first, none of the streets
in the Bazaar have names posted. You're just supposed to KNOW, I guess. Well, I'm
from out of town, and I don't know.
I asked people. That thing about guys not asking directions, that's a lie. I
asked. Several times. And they pointed me at streets. Not a one of them was
straight, so I suppose they could have all been pieces of the same street, not that
*I* cared. It's all some kind of joke the people here in Dal Shang play on people who
have the good fortune to be from elsewhere.
Finally I went into a shop to ask. I figured a shopkeeper, who had to worry
about customer satisfaction, might give me a straight answer, you know? A place
called Sheminissian's. Carpets everywhere. Easy on the feet after tramping around on
cobblestones all afternoon. And this guy talked to me for a while, very friendly he
was. I guess he was the owner.
And when I'd left, I had a carpet. Sue me.

SPY REPORT
Greetings, warriors of DAL SHANG! Once again I've been called out of retirement
for my abilities and insights into Spyreporting. What's with KAPPA VELORUM? He
actually beat DAL SHANG's BERVAN THE TINKER, and walked away with 12 more points from
the fight. Har har har! Did TURK-Y MONSTER wimp out, or just get lazy? Anyway,
it's not Duelmaster anymore. I can barely restrain my enthusiam for SAND DANCERS'
outstanding member, Duelmaster CHAEGO TEN SELAH. I suppose you want to hear some
rumors and dirty gossip about your fellow fighters? Tough!
If at first you don't succeed, avoid. That'll get you in the Spyreports.
A fighter's lot is filled with strife, revenge, and killing. Some fighters
don't accept this. The best do. Is it my imagination, or are fighters getting
younger every day? To die so young, so gloriously!
Well, I'm pretty much through. You guys need to get back practicing. The end
