It was a dark and stormy night, and the keep was silent. Myrrdin looked out
over the lands below and smiled to himself, for soon his friends would be returning
home from the tournament. He sighed and turned towards the hearth once again and,
picking up his favorite book, continued to wait patiently by the fire for all of them
to come back home and share their stories of triumph and failure with him.
Just as he remembered he had done so long ago.

"We wait and wait and still no date. Where is our little abrogate?" Silver
Moon sighed plaintively while tending her wounds recently acquired in the arena. "Do
you think he's--" Looking sharply to her left, Loendal stopped her mid-sentence,
holding out his hand and craning his neck to listen to the announcer.
"...Pinkerton lost to Krago in a popular 6 minute match." Krago smiled a
reserved smile. "Quite a warrior that one, mi ribs is pounded to grim nights fer a
week, no less heh."
Loendal nodded, "Saw that one, you are a hearty warrior, Krag."
"...Stormchilde was butchered by Dreihden Bum in a...." Krago's smile froze and
his eyes seemed to harden somehow. "Not quite the welcome oi 'spected , or he for
that."
Silver Moon's eyes dropped to the floor, "Oh lovely Storm, we need to form, and
here we come, Oh Dreihden Bum, we come for you, in green and blue with blades and
sticks, A mighty crew, to fell an oak, an axe to stroke...." Tears stained her
cheeks, and her face was red with anger.
"...Xen Shirn was easily killed by Loendal in a...." Loendal's head dropped and
he sighed. "I got too excited by the whole experience, it's my fault Stormy is dead,
I should not have been so intent so as to kill my opponent. The Gods have spoken a
death for a death, but let us not have any more. No more killing, it sickens me to
my gut."
While all of this was occurring, just outside of the arena a small golem and a
medium built, dark set man approached the small group. "What is happening, my
friends? Long time no see. I won my bout today; how have all of you done? Well, I
hope. Okay, so Loendal the sullen, Silver Moon the beauty, Krago the ox and I
Creator the fox meet.... Hey, where's Stormchilde?" At this Creator looked about at
the sullen and angry crew of his fellows and began to notice the air about them.
"Hello? Hey what's going on, no rhymes or, whoa...you are MAD! What happened?"
The man to his left was a calm fellow, with dark hair, blue eyes and a deep rich
brown complexion. He watched only and said nothing, seemingly having noticed much
more quickly than his fellow the tension in the air. With Creator looking around
like a confused man who had just been pickpocketed and everyone else trying to find
the patience and the words to explain themselves he finally lifted his voice in
introduction. "Stormtroopers, I have heard much about your abilities as bodyguards
and as warriors and would like to join you. I am known to those that know as Big
Brutha."
Loendal nodded his assent and said, "We are short a man recently, we will drink
and talk of what has happened and what will be. Come, let us to the tavern; we have
many things to accomplish in the coming days. These will be difficult and dangerous
times for us."

Warriors I'm avoiding forever and will be winning LU stylemaster over my dead
body because their manager likes to whine about not having DM columns: Draco Malfoy

SPY REPORT
Busy, busy, busy, lots of things happening in DAIYLA KIV this turn, and let's
start with a look at some of the teams. The DARK TOADZ guild has had a 4-1-0 turn
and deserves to be watched in the future. You never know where this kind of thing
can lead. And let's see, SLOPPY DRUNK fought SONGBIRD and gained 20 points and
contributed to PARTY GEEKS' 2-2-0. SONGBIRD has lost to SLOPPY DRUNK, falling 16
points, while helping make DARK TOADZ a 4-1-0 turn. This week's Duelmaster bout was
between DURANY and our Duelmaster <COOKIE JONES>, making a Bloodfeud. The attempts
to dethrone the Duelmaster have failed, and <COOKIE JONES> remains DAIYLA KIV's top
warrior for another turn. Can someone confirm a rumor for me? I hear the top team
makes their losing fighters do dishes at The Crystal Wheel until they win. Maybe?
He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose
for good reasons. My mama told me that one. I also notice that the DARK TOADZ
stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on DAIYLA KIV, what are you afraid
of? And avoiding DARK TOADZ more than any other team we find FAULTY PREMISES.
DAIYLA KIV, are we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? Well, sports
fans, take notice that TILAEN TYL SANH from SAND DANCERS was DAIYLA KIV's most
challenged warrior this turn. GANGLARE of EINHERJAR IV had better have a good reason
for challenging down 12 points in a challenge which he lost. I thought GANGLARE
showed great skill and promise when he lost to DRACO MALFOY. All right, so I slept
through it! Big deal!
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to
be true. Had I not seen it, it would be hard to believe. FRANKIE THE FISH was sent
to the Dark Arena and lived to tell about it! Makes you think, no? We'd like to
remind certain teams not to rob the graves of their enemies. You know who you are;
and it's considered rude.
Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare
to fight bravely. Always good to rest in DAIYLA KIV, but never good to wear out my
welcome. Look for me in future turns. Until the sun next rises and my pen sets to

TOURNEY FREEZE CHANGE -- ADVANCE NOTICE
Beginning at the Winter Face-to-Face in Tempe (January 2004), we will implement
several changes affecting tournaments. The tournament announcement for the upcoming
FTF and future tourneys will reflect these changes.
First, we will eliminate the tourney freeze for all regular DM warrior classes.
Regular DM warriors will not be classed ahead of the tournament, but instead will
fight according to their FE on the date of the tourney. There will still be a freeze
for the ADM classes, occurring on the same timeline as before, approximately 6 weeks
before the tournament.
In addition to the above change, the warrior classes will be slightly altered.
The new tourney classes will be as follows:

arena. These warriors will be split into two tournament classes, the Contenders and
the Primus classes, again based upon their characteristics. More information on this
will be published in the newsletters for those arenas.
