DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
By the knots in my natty beard, look who's the Champion of Dayla Kiv, the
Duelmaster, as they have come to be called. Who? Why, it's me, Tane, your favorite
dwarf.
Hanval the Claw tried mightily hard, but these Stand-Ins just can't get the job
done against a well-polished gladiator and his even better polished sword, and that
was the case with good ol' Hanval. I do hope he does something about that claw hand
of his. It looks rather peculiar.
Who will I fight this round? Another Stand-In, you ask? Hanval the Claw again,
you ponder? Or will it be that pesky Khalhums Dwarf, who's now calling himself the
Traveling Tinker? Masks, masks, masks. Everyone's wearing a mask these days. Why,
here, even the High Elf calls himself Hagar the Northman.
Anyway, these and other burning questions have yet to be resolved, mates. Time
will tell, and I will get older. It's the way of the world. If you have no idea what
I'm talking about, HAR, HAR, that makes two of us.
Until next round, Dayla Kiv, keep your swords sharp and your beer cold. Speaking
of ale, I'm off to the Frothy Mug for a cold one--I have to train, you know.
-- Tane

SPY REPORT
It's me, The Unknown Spymaster, back to give you this week's Spy Report. Sit
back in your seats and we'll have more fun than a barrel of Zontanis. Hey everybody,
watch out for RAVANA, who flew up 22 points in the rankings after mashing UNCLE FRANK
like a melon. Keep your eye on this gal. Ya know, some days it doesn't pay to walk
out on the sands. UNCLE FRANK lost to RAVANA and drops 18 points. It's a proud day
for the THE FUNKENSTEINS stable, as their warrior, BIG SAL, ascended the Duelmaster's
throne. 4 out of 5 gladiators surveyed protect the body, so try and avoid aiming at
that location.
Here is other news that is of note.
Remember that an arena is not always a safe place to be, but it is one of the
most interesting, though! Knowing when to use the right tactics at the proper time
is a very important step on the road to Duelmaster.
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of
you whom I have not offended yet. C'mon, Leadfoot, let's make some tracks. Hasta la
bye-bye. (Loud choruses of 'Beat it, ya bum!')-- The Unknown Spymaster

PERSONAL ADS
Chandar Lo -- Running with favorite weapon and rhythm, probably not a bad thing. --
Erebus Impact
Red Kogan/Sand Dancers -- Thanks, gents. See you somewhere in retirement. And
farewell, all. This is the last ad I'll write. -- Erebus Impact
Komar the Penniless -- You're getting better, you actually attacked this turn. Hey,
wait a minute... either you're getting better, or I'm not as good as my teammates.
Oh, man, you just ruined my day. -- J. Fair
Red Kogan -- That wasn't pretty. Time to reconsider everything about the way I fight.
-- S. Horror
Hanval the Claw -- Three for three on attacks/criticals. I'm diggin' it. -- Tane
Krenshew -- Thanks for the introduction to the "fight game." Entertaining duel, and
good job, sir. -- P. Mosaic
Arenamaster Dernal -- No apology necessary. But we must inquire where you live, where
it's always so cold that it interferes with writing. -- Argonauts, collectively, as
one entity
Argonauts -- Remind me to teach all of you how to write a DM Column. This is becoming
embarrassing. -- Medea (your lovely and talented manager)
Shewish Horror -- That was, yep, horrible. Now all we need is a Shew. -- Red Kogan
Parsifal Mosaic -- Decorative. I figure giving you a loss on your first fight is,
well, you have nowhere to go but up, right? -- Krenshew
And 2-1 against standbys. Oh, well.
Regulus Fury -- Come on up any time. -- Baikal s'Kren
Regulus Fury -- I'm a tinker, we can fix things, including ourselves. --
Khad'drakh'n'dhaz of Khra, known as the Traveling Tinker, maker of superb blades
Erebus Impact -- My lips are sealed, except for the passage of beer. -- Hanval the
Claw
Jakarta Fair -- Alas, parties don't pay well in these desperate times. -- Madame U-
Tana
Shewish Horror -- Well, it depends on "hinterland of what"? To the Adantri, it's the
Imperial capital and full of action. -- Red Kogan
Jakarta Fair -- I was never from Khalhums. Krha is a dwarven nation north of Lirith
Kai. Quite a different place. -- Khad'drakh'n'dhaz of Khra
P.S. One could probably make a good story of the fall of Khalhums, but my boss
refuses to do it at this point. Says it "isn't in her job description."
