DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
It wasn't Hanval the Claw as expected, sports fans, but the fair Madame U-Tana
that took the challenge of fighting your champion last cycle. As in our previous
bouts, she stood no chance. She at least parried one blow, but that was it. I'm
thankful she survived the beating she took--my war hammer has a mind of its own at
times-- but I have no desire to take life, having all ready done so.
In previous issues of this rag I've written about my career that began twenty
long years ago, and brought you up to this point. Now I'm delighted to report with
this turn my personal trial comes to an end. If I merely survive the round, I will
have achieved my goal at last, so says my lovely and talented manager, Medea (she
wanted me to say that), who says she's figured out the formula for immortality.
Yes, win, lose or draw I will be getting my invitation to the Isle, lands, a
title, etc. and I so look forward to it. So, in this my next to last round who shall I
meet? Will it be Ravana? Perhaps. I was surprised to see her take down my teammate,
Shewish Horror last turn. She has earned the shot.

Well, what are you looking at, DAYLA KIV? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens
before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. Later days, ARGONAUTS, since LAW DOGS
took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. Of course, we're all
terribly impressed to see PARSIFAL MOSAIC win a fight and gain 23 points, terribly.
Tsk, tsk, SHEWISH HORROR beat KRENSHEW and KRENSHEW lost 11 points. You're breakin'
my heart. And it's out with the old, in with the new, as RAVANA takes the Title and
last week's bar tab from the old Duelmaster. Heh, heh. The Crystal Wheel, humph!
I've tasted better ale at mortuaries. Where do they get this stuff? From DAYLA
KIV's trash dumps?
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. What's the big D? ARGONAUTS was the most avoided
team? Bunch of lily livered... grumble... mumble... curse... And it looks like LAW
DOGS avoided them the most this turn. What a pack of would be losers, if you ask me.
Hmph. Ooh, I'm frightfully impressed, TIOGAN CROW was this turn's most challenged
warrior. Watch that ego swell, sports fans. Looks like time for laurels or hemlock,
TIOGAN CROW was challenged by RUSTY SABITCH, who was ranked 26 points below him.
Well, ok, the upstart knave (where've I heard that before?) won this match and gained
25 points to boot! Ha ha ha, TIOGAN CROW.
Some people like volunteer work in the hospitals. I volunteer for DAYLA KIV's
morgue. More variety. Honor is like a chainmail shirt, it only shines through use.
Certain nameless cowards will doubtless rebuke me on this one.
There's got to be a better place in DAYLA KIV to get a drink than The Crystal
Wheel! Any suggestions? Just wait 'till next time I show up here, I won't be so
