                             Notes from the arena champ.

Greetings Lin Tirian -- Ah, the situation has changed since you last heard from me.
Gone is your scared duelmaster who is sure the throne is to be stripped from him at
any moment and in his place, you have the adepts TC. An extra 8 FE and the
appropriate learns do wonders for a man's confidence. But that aside, I wish to
offer my hand in congratulations to Yensi. Well fought and I imagine those learns
were beneficial for him. I wish him the best of luck in acquiring more so that he
may see the isle as the worthy warrior that he is. I am afraid I'm not up for trying
my luck against one of the many lungers in the arena at this time... I went out of my
way to fight so few in the Adepts tourney... so Yensi will again get my challenge.
In all honesty, the tourney performance was a great deal of luck in match ups and
learning the right skills at the right time, so I shall remain cautious. --Jon Snow

                                      SPY REPORT

Much has changed in LIN TIRIAN since last I was here. Never fear, Olaf Modeen
adapts to many situations, as do all successful fighters. PBA showed LIN TIRIAN what
they were made of as they fought with a vengeance to walk off with 4-1-0. What's
with BOXWOOD? She actually beat SAND DANCERS' WALLIS, and walked away with 14 more
points from the fight. Major screwup at ROCK-ETTS II. TIGER-EYE lost 16 points to
MORDANT DESERTER. Some new strategies, perhaps? Maybe TIGER-EYE will provide more
easy wins... LIN TIRIAN has a Duelmaster who doesn't sit back and get lazy. He TV
challenged SAND DANCERS' YENSI TWOFINGER (24-23-1), which should prove (ahem!)
interesting. YENSI TWOFINGER was reminded on the sands why JON SNOW is Duelmaster.
Advice to fighters with a 1 will--give up fighting!
If at first you don't succeed, avoid. That'll get you in the Spyreports. How
well I know the feeling of being in the most avoided team! Don't fall out of
practive, TREE PEOPLE! In my day, no team with a 127-44-6 would scare me off!
What's the problem, DARK TOADS? What do people see in YENSI TWOFINGER? His 24-23-1?
SAND DANCERS ain't talkin', but he's got 96 points. BLANK of TREE PEOPLE knows how
to pick 'em. She challenged COCAINE of HABIT who is up by 23. Now was this a wise
move? BLANK perhaps got hers just desserts, seeing as she was overcame by COCAINE
and ended up with 56 recognition points.
There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters
to walk away, or not? Is it my imagination, or are fighters getting younger every
day? To die so young, so gloriously!
Well, I'm pretty much through. You guys need to get back practicing. LIN
TIRIAN is a nice place to live, but I don't like to live in nice places. Remember--a
good fighter needs both good skills and good luck. Until next time,-- Olaf Modeen

Sniff... no one wrote me a pesronal ad. Of course, with the tournament I forgot to
write mine, too... -- TigToad

Rocky -- One would think I'd have the sense to stop challenging you. -- Robb Stark

Jon Snow -- See to it that you write a column, you TOAD. You're so ridiculous, so
SHORT, and you have a sissy style, and--

Jon Snow -- (sigh) Yensi is like that, all too often. Must be because he's an Orc.
Since he won't say it, I will: Good fight. -- Jorja

Jorja -- I resent your comment about Orcs. We are not all like Yensi. In fact, most
of us aren't. -- Irla

300 -- But I feel a very Orcish fury at being defeated so easily by you. Ah, well,
I'll get over it in time. -- Irla
P.S. Congratulations on your graduation. We're all thrilled about it.

Moonstone -- Mantor! I wish you wouldn't do that, now Loden's running around in
circles biting people--you know how it is with rabid Elves. -- Jorja

What gave this silly beggar the idea that I had anything to offer him? -- Wallis

Jon Snow -- I have no one to fight you with the speed and riposte you have and win
the turn in adept. Good luck. I will have by the time you start over with a new
one. You can get lucky with one warrior or two then the bottom falls out. I got
lucky in the arena for a while. Now it's back to the drawing board. -- Elderberry

But drawing boards can be fun, too.

All -- Remember to put your arena number on your strategy sheets. Strategies turned
in without an arena number run the risk of missing the turn. -- NAIEI

To All -- Fellow managers, I humbly request your help. My team (Ex Oblivione) was
started in Monuntial (DM 34) back in '92. They were active for seven months. I have
lost all early traces of them. If any of you can help with copies of relevant
newsletters or, if you fought one of my warriors, copies of the fights, I would
greatly appreciate it. I only have one of my original warriors left from the early
team now active in DM 60. You can diplo me with any info here in the wonderful city
of Aradi. Thank you in advance. -- Enigma, manager Ex Oblivione
