I again retain the title of Duelmaster and the fine throne that goes with that title. My thanks to Gutterball for an excellent fight. I wish him well in the future. This turn I cannot help but challenge Mad Loden as the idea of two Parry-Ripostes battling for the throne is simply too impressive to pass up. I expect next turn will be my last on the throne. I do not expect or hope to lose my next fight but TigToad does not want me to achieve my 14th arena win until the turn before the face-to-face. He said there is a chance they will graduate me early due to my recent Adepts tourney success and he wants me to have a chance to defend my title in champions this time around. In any case, the throne will be available to another after next turn...I hope someone is able to take advantage. -- Jon Snow SPY REPORT Well, what are you looking at, LIN TIRIAN? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. Later days, TREE PEOPLE, since DARK TOADS took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. Gee, I'm impressed, a 3-1-0 is nice, but don't get cocky, ROCK-ETTS II, the Fates teach humility, and the Fates are proud. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to see BLANK win a fight and gain 21 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, MOONSTONE beat SPLIT and SPLIT lost 32 points. You're breakin' my heart. JON SNOW TV challenged MAD LODEN for LIN TIRIAN's Title this turn, and guess what happened? And if variety is the spice of life, LIN TIRIAN may be getting bland, as JON SNOW stays top dog in the city. The Lost Hope Inn, humph! I've tasted better ale at mortuaries. Where do they get this stuff? From LIN TIRIAN's trash dumps? Well, let's take a look at some more misdeeds of you miserable sword-boys. TREE PEOPLE, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were this turn's most avoided team. Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And who led the way in this mass act of cowardice? Let's see, well, whatcha know? It was DARK TOADS. Ha ha ha ha! Ooh, I'm frightfully impressed, MAD LODEN was this turn's most challenged warrior. Watch that ego swell, sports fans. I suspect either a 21 will or a 21 ego on this one, but NED STARK has challenged up by 29 in an attempt against PROOKIE. But here's a pretty tale--NED STARK did lose the fight, but gained 4 worth of recognition. Some long shots can pay off, I guess. Death and Taxes. The less death I see, the more it taxes my patience. Let's see if anyone's dead or dying. Titanium shields and bamboo daggers, guess what brave team is developing these kinds of weapons? What does the LIN TIRIAN arena have in common with the inns? It's just as comfortable to sleep in either place. Ha ha ha ha! Phlllt! Just had to do that before I leave the fine city of LIN TIRIAN. I feel much better now. Paste this one in your scrapbooks, you'll need the kindling come this winter-- Snide Clemens DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME JON SNOW 2389 13 0 1 233 DARK TOADS (280) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME PINE 2350 15 3 1 106 TREE PEOPLE (265) GUTTERBALL 2344 16 10 1 103 PBA (275) YENSI TWOFINGER 2292 25 24 1 100 SAND DANCERS (68) MAD LODEN 2282 16 37 1 93 SAND DANCERS (68) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME WILLIOW 2351 14 4 0 88 TREE PEOPLE (265) SPLIT 2347 16 9 0 87 PBA (275) COCAINE 2311 20 24 0 84 HABIT (270) BLANK 2374 8 1 2 81 TREE PEOPLE (265) IRLA 2318 17 22 0 73 SAND DANCERS (68) PROOKIE 2345 14 7 1 68 PBA (275) CHALLENGER ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME RICKON STARK 2401 6 1 0 57 DARK TOADS (280) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME NED STARK 2396 4 3 0 41 DARK TOADS (280) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME ROBB STARK 2391 6 2 1 33 DARK TOADS (280) ROCKY 2411 5 1 0 32 ROCK-ETTS II (281) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME TOE PAL 2410 4 2 0 20 ROCK-ETTS II (281) BOXWOOD 2415 2 2 1 13 TREE PEOPLE (265) WALLIS 2413 1 6 0 9 SAND DANCERS (68) '-' denotes a warrior who did not fight this turn. We'll see how far away that is...but none of the others are panning out. Congratulations on the ripper graduate...I know I haven't achieved that yet...and now that I wrote this, Jon will surely die. -- TigToad Gutterball -- Good fight...thanks. -- Jon Snow Pine -- Now I've got SPLINTERS! Darn. -- Irla Willow -- Bwa ha ha. -- Mad Loden O Paul -- Good gods! Only four fights and you're ranked at 84? I hope you have tourney fights, because you're in trouble otherwise! And I am, unquestionably, here to help you realize just how much trouble you're in. -- Yensi Twofinger P.S. I'm being suave today, just to prove to Jorja that I can. You noticed that, right? Robb Stark -- That was starkly expected. -- Wallis the depressed Jon Snow -- If you get tired of writing duelmaster columns, feel free to sit out a turn, and one of us will move up and take care of that little chore. -- Yensi Twofinger and Mad Loden TigToad -- Being an Orc frequently leads to being obnoxious. Not always, but frequently. I hate it when I have to hire Orcs. But then again, look at Loden. He's an Elf, and he's WORSE. -- Jorja Tig Toad has a very good fighter. You get one about 50 fighters or two years in the game. That's all I can make out of the numbers I got. -- Elderberry Wallis -- A Slasher and Aim Blow aren't the two slowest fighters in the arena and sometimes have to give thanks for the skill. -- Boxerook Rocky got a safe you can drop on me and I cannot win. -- Thurkey+three Mod Loden -- You can if you tired but I was lucky and you win the next one so we are equal. I change weapon? -- Elderberry Hi Rockett II, are you soft or slow? I hope you get a good warrior for Tiger Eye, she was soft. -- Elderberry 27 May 2003 A note to everyone regarding manager names and manager lists -- If you're running a team incognito, all you have to do is let me know and I won't put your name on any manager lists. It has seemed though, that more people want their names listed, even if they do not announce themselves, than the other way around. Also, I do maintain the list more or less by hand and errors do creep in. You have but to say I've made an error and no one will be the wiser (except thee and me, of course). -- The Saint, keeper of lists 30 May 2003 Duelmasters Friends and Friendly Foes -- I am returning to the United States for the summer. Such an epic demands a sequel. Therefore, Master Darque and Jack Wolfspider are pleased to announce the return of the Stormcrowe Slaughterhouse. Where? Stormcrowe DM 45 (slow). When? The Slaughterhouse returns on Turn 207, due August 19. How can you get into the action? Bring a team (one per entrant please) to arena 45 and announce your intention to join the contest in the Personals. Rules: This time around the rules are very simple. Each warrior win against a higher rated opponent (one or more points higher in the ratings) brings you 10 points, against even rated opponent 7 points, lower rated 5 points. Wins against NPCs or by a warrior who downchallenges are worth 0 points. Points are doubled for kills. All warriors in the arena whether participating in the Slaughterhouse or not are fair game. Points are totaled weekly, and the contestant whose team has racked up the most points at the end of 10 turns is declared Slaughterhouse Champion. Prizes: To be announced; we're still talking with RSI about it. Figure it will be something pretty good. But hey, who needs prizes when the honor of being Slaughterhouse Champion awaits! More info: Master Darque, MasterDarqueDM@aol.com, or Jack Wolfspider, russtulp@aol.com. Or diplo Darque Forces (428) or Dynastic (433) in Arena 45.
