DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
My thanks to Mad Loden for the entertaining fight. I always enjoy seeing Parry-
Ripostes fight, especially in a fight like this, for the throne. I have held the
throne I never expected to take for longer than I expected to hold it. Apparently, I
am just a better warrior than I gave myself credit for. However, the time has come
for me to step down. I will be inactive this turn and I will not try for the throne
again upon reactivation. I wish the rest of you luck for it. Please folks,
challenge the Duelmaster in the future, I'd hate to get the spot back in a random
match and feel obligated not to leave it again. -- Jon Snow
SPY REPORT
Good day, in LIN TIRIAN a quiet thief gets rich, but a quiet spymaster gets
poor. So bring me ale and harken to my tidbits of news. It seems the training can
make the difference, as DARK TOADS is pushed out of top team by ROCK-ETTS II, who
came from 3rd with a 3-1-0 this turn. And let's see, ROCKY fought NED STARK and
gained 12 points and contributed to ROCK-ETTS II's 3-1-0. NED STARK has lost to
ROCKY, falling 9 points, while helping make DARK TOADS a 1-2-0 turn. Due to his
absence and inability to defend the throne, JON SNOW has lost the title of
Duelmaster. And all eyes were on YENSI TWOFINGER this turn as he ascended to the
throne of Duelmaster. LIN TIRIAN has a new victor! By the way, was that our
Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the table at The Lost Hope Inn?
I tell you, a green quarterstaff lasts longer than a seasoned sapling. A basher
friend of mine assures me this is true. The most challenged warrior this turn was
SAND DANCERS' warrior IRLA. More fighters challenged her than challenged the
Duelmaster!
The Dark Arena is for those who cannot win, not who cannot lose with grace.
Dignity in life or death is the warrior's creed. We'd like to remind certain teams
not to rob the graves of their enemies. You know who you are; and it's considered
rude.
Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare
to fight bravely. Always good to rest in LIN TIRIAN, but never good to wear out my
welcome. Look for me in future turns. Until the sun next rises and my pen sets to
paper-- Alarond the Scribe

Yensi -- Your wish is my command. I am stepping down from the throne this turn by
not fighting...and next turn I will reactive and NOT challenge the Duelmaster. -- Jon
Snow
Jorja -- Some day, someone will have to do a comparison on Orcs and Elves. Just as
long as they don't interbreed. -- TigToad
Elderberry -- Jon is a very good fighter. He's bonused in the right areas and is
learning beyond what he should. However, I do not expect you will have to deal with
him much longer. -- TigToad
Jon Snow -- It seems to be some kind of PLOT. Like nobody's ALLOWED to beat you now.
I was all set, but somehow I just...something diverted my blow in a MOST peculiar
fashion. -- Mad Loden
Gutterball -- You're a low woman, I can see. I love low women. -- Yensi Twofinger
O Paul -- Damn, and they told me you would be easy to crack. So much for THAT
theory! -- Irla
Toe Pal -- Shouldn't you have been Toe Paz? Of course, you might have lost and not
learned as well then. -- Wallis
Jon Snow -- Well...okay. I forgive you. -- Yensi "the Tactless" Twofinger
Elderberry -- What? -- Mad Loden the seriously confused

ANNOUNCING THE RETURN OF STORMCROWE SLAUGHTERHOUSE
The last Stormcrowe Slaughterhouse was one of the closest and most exciting
contests ever held in Alastari. Such an epic demands a sequel. Therefore, Master
Darque and Jack Wolfspider are pleased to announce the return of the Stormcrowe
Slaughterhouse.
Where? Stormcrowe DM 45 (slow). When? The Slaughterhouse returns on Turn 207,
due August 19. How can you get into the action? Bring a team (one per entrant
please) to arena 45 and announce your intention to join the contest in the Personals.
Rules: This time around the rules are very simple. Each warrior win against a
higher rated opponent (one or more points higher in the ratings) brings you 10
points, against even rated opponent 7 points, lower rated 5 points. Wins against
NPCs or by a warrior who downchallenges are worth 0 points. Points are doubled for
kills. All warriors in the arena whether participating in the Slaughterhouse or not
are fair game. Points are totaled weekly, and the contestant whose team has racked
up the most points at the end of 10 turns is declared Slaughterhouse Champion.
Prizes: To be announced; we're still talking with RSI about it. Figure it will
be something pretty good. But hey, who needs prizes when the honor of being
Slaughterhouse Champion awaits!
More info: Master Darque, MasterDarqueDM@aol.com, or Jack Wolfspider,
russtulp@aol.com. Or diplo Darque Forces (428) or Dynastic (433) in Arena 45.
